We bought tickets for the day so we could get off the train to explore plus get chance to travel behind each of the two engines in steam, “Tom Rolt” and “Douglas”. Tip: we paid £50 for our two adult tickets as I rounded it up to include a donation, I also made it “Gift Aid”. When we presented our tickets via the phone, we got a £4.60 voucher to spend in one of the cafes. This meant we got a tea and a coffee for a quid.
We started our journey at Tywyn Wharf Station. Saturday had been very nice weather but yesterday had started with rain but cleared up to be fine all day.- 15

This site is ideal for the Talylln Railway which is about a 10 minute walk from the site to Tywyn station. Pitches for tents, motorhomes and caravans. Water and electric hook up £30 a night. Toilet block is very modern and clean. Views are superb and even had the main line running past in the distance.

A new arrival at Malmesbury in the form of a Dapol Flying Banana diesel Railcar.
Very impressive model. I have the factory sound fitted version. Good range of different sound and light options and the volume is good too. These retail at £408 all in. Which I think is good value for money. No connection just a happy customer. Busy this holiday weekend but I will try and do a video this week to demonstrate the sounds.
Cheers, Ade.

Having been away in the van to Statfold Barn for a weekend and the Nene Valley Railway for Easter, modelling time has been limited. However I have been doing some work.
First off, I have sprayed the LMS Brake Van and the LMS Meat Van in LMS Freight grey and hand painted the chassis’s in black. So today I got the decals in place. The roofs are just plonked in place for the photo as glazing has got to go in the brake van plus weights need adding.
I have also got the GWR open wagon sprayed up in grey. I have got a Peco tarpaulin for this one.
Another project I have started is scratch building the coal merchants tin shed. This will be divided into three bays, which were conveniently each the width of a sleeper going from a period photo, so that gave me the rough measurement for the size of the building. Constructed from Slaters Plasicard and coffee stirrers.

Silly question why where they painted blue...? (The axlebox covers I mean)
I knew it was something to do with bearings or oil so I found this old thread.
Cheers, Ade.

A trip to the Talyllyn Railway
in Preservation
Posted
Hi Neal, sounds another good place to stay.
We loved the site we stayed at. Very laid back lady owner. Rang up and made the booking, she didn’t want any money up front or any vehicle details, just name and phone number. Turned up and paid and she said park where ever you wish, but recommended the little paddock where we pitched up. We will certainly go back again.
Cheers, Ade.
