I understand that there are documents relating to railway equipment lost on the continent after the fall of France! These are in the National Archives at Kew!

I worked for Post Officce Telephones in the early sixties ,lots of mud .horrible lorries, clothing not much cop, but we had a good many fun adventures .We used do three days trenching and then went rabbiting with some of the lads.We always left at least four chaps working on site in case the inspector appeared. The rabbits were shared out amongst those on site as always about twenty were captured and on a good day thirty. Happy days not like now,
No one would eat rabbits these days or even know how to prepare one for the pot.

Maybe for a future batch? Possibly a different design to the ribs on these DRS livery ones?

They are similar to the Land Recovery ones, the other batches are a different design from Greenbriar.- 1

Oh heck, is this the slippery slope to sandals and quinoa?
Mine are going in the bin!
Mike.
What's wrong with selling them on Ebay as you can buy the empty boxes from models on there!

They are the original bulk ballast new bodies on recovered bogies and brake gear from 100 tonne glw tanks. Originally hired to Railtrack from Caib for ballast to virtual quarries and modified with the cutout in the end stanchion.

What happens in the future when there is no-one alive who remembers the colour? This is where I think colourisation will muddy the water.
It’s bad enough when people are alive who remember the real colour but colour perception is personal and likewise memories!

More likely that there is a shortage of journalists who actually understand what they are writing about; rather like when the rule book was given to an organisation to simplify the English used and got ‘ a signal further beyond’ (or something like that) for a Distant signal!

Naah, they would have mis-spelt ‘Gloucester’ on the casting pattern.
Small screens and no reading glasses don’t help!

I agree remove the roof and see what is revealed as it may reveal how to get the chassis off.

Please send a phot of it but I fear that it will be one that is glued together!

Reflects they were an all purpose open merchandise wagon suitable for going to the Continent.

In the same way refurbished SOV became ODA. However the SJA joining the steel categories was a sectorisation thing as the prototype two scrap carriers were MFA. -
Working at height regulations have been a major change affecting signals recently as most recent build and replacement are more akin to street lights and can be laid flat for maintenance ad no don’t have ladders!

I guess the screens had been originally built for pony power.
The height of the screens tended to be as low as possible to avoid unnecessary breakage of coal as the size of the coal affects the sale price plus avoid refunds/compensation to cus.

Condensed milk in tins was common in homes and no doubt larger cans for commercial bakers, Libby's, McNeil and Purvis had empty tins delivered to their factory in the specially built lot of 100 diagram 1/214 end door vans.

The trouble with Internal User wagons (NCB or anybody else) is that they wouuldn't leave the premises of the business they belonged to.
Most would be delivered by rail to the customer from works or hirer, Standard Wagon hired many ex BR owned wagons and subsequently hired them to industry with photo’s shotthem being delivered and then there were also wagons returning off hire or between locations.- 1

Reinstatement of Skipton to Colne is fundamentally different thing - the benefits are far more localised (which is not to say they aren’t worthy),
It's up North and doesn't count and can be safely ignore it in London!

missing part of company name
The Ship Canal Sand Company wagons remained PO till withdrawal in the same way that the Pilkington ones did.
