  1. No, my point is that it doesnt need to be a switchable funtion because they do it automatically anyway, i have no control over it when i drive a 1:1 scale version either. the option of having the other AWS/TPWS startup is hardly a no win, 1/3 of the GBRF fleet have it, not sure on other operators so it caters for those and helps really cement this as the ultimate 66 sound file.
  2. Yeahh as above. I recorded a eurospec at Hams Hall the other night funnily enough! its a very clear recording as was so quiet out. if you read this bif and you want me to send it you let me know. Would certainly make it more realistic for those going for the later built locos.
  3. really looking forward to this. The couple times biff has demo’d it for me this year at shows it was absolutely brilliant. do you know what the price is going to be for a package with a single v5 & a matched lokpilot rather than a pair of V5’s? as i have two sets to sound fit but cant justify £500 on decoders!
  4. Putting things like radar hiss on a function is just a waste of a function. they all do it when in direction so why not programme it so? similar with the spirax valves, compressor ect. imo when using a system such as a powercab its a pain in the butt trying to make use of all these functions Also, GBRF eurospec 66’s have TPWS4, which has a different startup chime and does a self test outloud, which biff seems to have missed out. Could have chucked that in the options too which would be good for the later built 66’s it does sound nice though, and i may sound like im being picky but its just my opinion of course.
  5. fingers crossed one of the retailers will commission one. Just seems a bit baffling, as they are trying to get the O gauge side of things kickstarted so surely you would want to appeal to the widest audience possible! im sure they will be a cracking model anyway! ive personally driven a few with only a single wagon at times, from westbury-eastleigh, so short trains are very normal :-)
  6. Fancy producing the GBRF Sorrento liveried example... surely a standard GBRF corporate livery example would sell better... ill be buying one but heres hoping somewhere commissions a standard GBRF livery as id like to model 66763. do people really like the biffa livery that much also? Amazed its so popular.
  7. So, i came to the realisation that the old layout wasnt ever going to be something i could exhibit when finished, things such as baseboards ect were letting it down, so i made the decision to bin it. i went for a fresh start with what seems to be the best out there - Tim Horn baseboards. i ordered a pair of 4x2 scenic boards to make an 8x2 scenic area - similar to the current size. im then ordering a 2x2 square for the corner of the room, which will have a 4x1 joined on in an L shape, and on the end of that will have one of my 5x1 fiddle yard boards i will also have a second 5x1 board for the opposite end of the layout when its not stuck in a spare room. the track will be built with the fiddle yard connected straight to the scenic section and then the curve board added afterwards, so that i can just take it to shows as a 18ft end to end layout as i wont need the 90’ curve. im limited to a 4ft board width ways in the room, so i am also ordering a 5x1 board to use as the fiddle yard, making the layout a U shape and then the 2x2 & 4x1 board would just stay at home when exhibiting and again id connect the fiddle yard straight on the end of the scenic area, except this time in 5ft pform. hopefully that makes some sense?! Ha! will also change to electrofrog points and rejig the trackplan having the chiltern mainline running right at the back with a larger LUL station at the front. so, a 7-8 week wait for baseboards now and then i shall crack on. :-) for now im messing with my EFE tube stock, adding lighting and motorising them. cheers eric
  8. If you pair tenshodos up in a single car and a single dcc chip they run very well.
  9. Cheers, modern era with a bit of rule 1 that LT saved all their past stock in running order lol. Ive got the tankers, brake vans and plank wagons just didnt chuck them in the pic as i didnt take it specifically for this thread :-)
  10. I do have some, was just a random picture. Have you ever been to the LT museum? Where they have a standard stock awaiting restoration? No time travel required.
  11. Thats brilliant mate, thankyou very much for that!! Top stuff.
  12. Love the idea of the couplings, are you able to post any more pics/info? How much are they?
  13. Looking forward to progress on this!!
  14. Its an interesting little place to visit eh. Been there a few times also. Cant understand a word the guy there says lol. im suprised just how much railway there is there!
  15. Super gutted this never came to anything. emailed the LTM the other day after seeing this thread to see if there was an update and looks like they still arent really interested.
  16. Place looks like a bombsite and you cant really browse through as there is little room to move, the guy was polite enough though and keen to have a chat.
  17. Looks awesome so far! Wish i had something like this near me.
  18. I know this thread was yearsssss ago but your wish almost became a reality. Its a massive shame it didnt happen but we were ready to go at ooc with a mainline project planned for it using the apprentices for the manpower much like when 1015 was there. Was voted against unfortunately. Was indeed going to be converted to dual braked in the process. Sad it didnt happen, a massive missed opportunity!
  19. Ive put twin tenshodos in my tube trains, run sooo much better than a single even with extra pickups.. put them both in the same car so if you DCC chip them you only need one chip.
  20. Ah brilliant! Shame he got rid. I was super impressed by it, aswell as a bit jealous! Looks great in the shop.
