Did you have difficulty fitting the sugar cub? I cant get the enclosure to clip back in place with the speaker in !

I'm having trouble fitting sugar cube speakers into Dapol supplied enclosure. I've read this thread but cant see an answer to the fact they sit too high / proud and the enclosure does not clip back into the pcp. What have I missed??

⁸The train now departing has quickly come back. But you will just have to believe me as I set video file too big and cant upload it lol. Will have to change video settings so off to google !! But at least the 14xx is in steam. Now just got to work out all the combination of bells/ whistles / buzzes etc lol

Back to making a noise today. I hope! Replacement sound chip for the 48xx turned up with some more speaker options. Gone for two x megabase in this hard wired 48xx. One speaker in the coal bunker and a larger one in the boiler with the chip. No power pack in this one as I'm hoping it dont need one. Options are open however at a later date? I've ordered another 48xx that I'm going to try and use the supplied pcp board and a 21 pin decoder with twin sugar cube speakers fitted. If I ever work out how the sugar cube fits in Dapol speaker housing? 3 plank wagon has had a repair by pinching a buffer off the 4 plank that came this week. 4 plank will be off to crumlin A shop for a pair of replacement buffers asap !

I take it there is no point holding ones breath on this one !

This is wws extra fine grey ballast. I use it on my 0 gauge layout as it looks right to me.

Finally got my post today ! So tomorrow is tunnel and rock building day. Or the start if it! Also got these 7mm fishplates ( thanks to Aid for idea) to fit on at rail joints. Not that I'm sure anyone will notice !!

We my idiot actions this morning saw me blow the sound chip ! I was however impressed with the wheeltappers sound that I will order a replacement asap. Might even go for two as I really like the 48xx. I blew the chip as I was fading with different speaker combinations, mainly as I was not impressed with the sugar cube speakers. I find them a bit tiny on there own. The sound was much better with a mega base and cube as opposed to two x cubes.

Thanks for your replies My idiot actions saw me blowing the amp on the sound chip this morning so plans are back to the drawing board. But this information is stored for reference. Thank you.

Slight disaster this morning !! Instead of fitting sugar cube speakers and getting on with it I started faffing with different speakers and once again blew the sound chip! So its defo time to flog some stuff off to replace the 48xx sound chip due to my idiot actions ! At least I got to test the chassis and it ran over the tracks and points much better than the 72xx. Compensation is key !

Haha it mainly as I bought the wrong shade of touch up paint for the 72xx !

I've got this v5 loksound 8 pin chip. The 8 I'm ok with. I hope! The 5 wires on the " oyter" end though have me scratching me head! Is the red wire common ? What are the others for? White? Black? Gap Gap Purple ? Green ?? I have looked at the loksound book but I'm not sure so thought I'd ask for a layman's answer?

As expected a sugar cube should end up in the bunker and I'm hoping to get this 25 x 25mm mega base in? Not used a smaller mega base before? What speaker set up have others used? Sound chip is by wheeltappers .not actually heard that either fully just a quick check last year. The supplied 2 x sugar cube set up supplied by Dapol interest me but I dont have a 21 pin decoder for this one. Maybe the next one?

Looks like post will be delayed a day or two around here so I'm not sure where my other tunnel is ? Hopefully it will find its way here soon? Until then it's only the front tunnel I can sort out. Started yesterday and hope to finish it today. Compromise needed on retaining wall but it suits its purpose! Got to have the air raid shelter my son built when he was about 5 for a school project. I think there is room near the cottage for that there? Depends on how much of a rock face I build?

I saw a video of a 48xx bunker first the other day. I'll see if I can find the details as it did catch my eye as being unusual.

A little bit of track weathering done to the tunnel boardwhile watching the floods subsid last night ! Barrow crossing got the look I want. I think ! Leaving " middle" track fairly clean while continuing the theme of a well worn branch line otherwise and a mix of powders to age it Onto the tunnels next !

Not much happening today due to old Skewen Main colliery water flooding as shown on national news ! Luckily our house is so far just high enough so weather is only half way up our drive. So just a bit of track weathering in the base coat of diluted brake dust wash. I did get a small tub of mig " dark earth" pigment as my other and much older tub of mig dark earth was about 2/3rds gone Turns out the new stuff is a lighter shade which is good as a blend of weathered colours looks much better? Just a little test session tonight that will be looked at in daylight tomorrow if dry ! The Barrow/ foot crossing was darkened down as I got a spare jar of railmatch gwr stock brown. Probably go over with weathered wood tomorrow and then a black / dark grey powder mix.

I wanted to enter the "study" this morning to a busy scene on Cwm Risca. When I say study I mean small messy room! Anyway I set up the shots last night and I think the station board is getting there now. I went a bit mad with the track weathering yesterday and had to back track as they say as it went a bit orange ! A bit of sleeper grime brought things back to the brown look I'm looking for. The signal box went yesterday in with lines path and foot crossing. Bit of weathering to be done on the crossing if the glue has set this morning? Jobs to be done on station board ( that I can think of) Point levers and bases Backdrop board Sleeper built buffer stop Whether crossing planks Fit signal switch to control board. Test points and running !!

Do Dapol have a launch day like Hornby etc? Just wondering if anything new in 0 gauge will be of interest this year and how one becomes aware of updates?

Any one know if this is still on track ? It's something to look forward to in these depressing times !
