  1. Been a quiet week but some progress on working out fiddle yard operation. Mk1 cassette in development stage and mk2 is on the cutting block ! Plan A is to get fiddle yard powered up today and new dynamis shelf built at rear of layout. Back to modeling this week then.
  2. Will you be adding a sound chip to it?
  3. I gave everything I did not want from more or less complete sets of the last 15 years model rail, rail express, brm and a few others to Severn valley railway. Kept Hornby mag for reference.
  4. I still think it's a kettle. Be great if it's another gwr tank engine for me personally but I've got my money in the s r camp this time. What time is the announcement??
  5. Just as long as it's not 5 years before we can buy it lol
  6. You need to find out what cv controls it and lower it by re programming. Who sound chip project is it ?
  7. Yesi think what ever it is, Dapol already produce it an one or more other scales.
  8. Ah ok. I though the wall was in the way stopping it swing out to a wagon. Hence better to put it outside. I did consider one on my loading dock but also came to the conclusion it would look too cluttered.
  9. Should it not be onthe outside to lift heavy goods out of open wagons? Im no expert on how they were used but inside it seems of limited use?
  10. I think if Dapol have had good sales on their previous gwr locos such as 14xx 57xx etc then another gwr loco could also sell well. Given the option to purchase the Heljan / Minerva gwr stuff and it's quite easy to get into 0 gauge and build a gwr / brwr layout these days. That's what happened to me! Personally I think tank engines will sell better than (big) tender locos as room at home is of course limited to most. I do concede it would be good to see other regions catered for but at the same time not at the expense of gwr. Thus what's needed is for Hornby and bschmannto fill the gap in the growing market??
  11. I'd just go with a new can if only occasionally spraying
  12. My dynamis pro box turned up but it's not what I expected!! It does allow me to read cv so I can adjust individual sound levels etc and potentially add extra receivers though I'm not sure I actually need one on 8ft lol Have asked questions on couple of groups on that one. Today's job having spent nearly £30 on plywood yesterday is to start work on the fiddle yard board proper! Plan is to enclose it as I really dont like people looking at fiddle yards in shows and not the layout ! Have also ordered angle aluminium to start making cassettes. I wrote out a time table (twice) yesterday which resulted in 20 moves to use all my rolling stock and I'm short of three engines ! That could be two after Saturday if an ebay bid wins and one loco short by Easter if the Dapol 45xx turns up. In truth I need to write the time table for the locos I have and perhaps use less stock! Initial plan was to have 1 loco per "train" but I think it would be more prototypical that the 58xx on morning milk also has to return later on pick up goods! So mk3 version of time table probably needed lol Did add some planks to the point lever so some modelling done ! Power pack for pannier arrived so that needs fitting today as well.
  13. Notch in the extension it board. But no notch in the ir receiver ?
  14. Ok so I've made a mistake and bought a pro box ! I've got a query on the extra i.r. receiver and its cable? @ Least the one that came supplied. I think mone is a re-vanped box? The ir cable has connectors that have a small raised square "notch" that locates it into the ir extension board. This I presume is to ensure correct connection. However the actual i.r. receiver/transmitter does not have the " notch" so the cable can not connect to it. Given the exposed cables ( which does not seem good for prolonged exhibition use)have I got the wrong connector fitted on one end?? If I slice off the raised notch and insert the cable the wrong way, will it blow the ir receiver and or pro box?? I'm presuming the notch is there to ensure correct connection! Photo of my connection cable with the square " notch"
  15. Two reasons not to get excited : Its not a 56xx What ever it is I'm not likley to live long enough to buy it lol
  16. Any reply off Dapol?? If the 45xx is due in April I'll have to hold off going mad on an Ebay loco on Saturday lol
  17. What did you use on the wheels and chassis to weather in terms of paint please and thank you.
  18. Little bit of work on 1432 today. Fitted a power pack ( so much better with dcc ) and buffer beam numbers. I'm going to have to finally break out the airbrush kit I have at some point to do weathering on the wheels and under frame. I think I'm building myself up to that lol. Might as well do all 4 possibly 5 locos after the weekend (ebay purchase possible on Saturday!) locos at one time then ? I was hoping my dynamis pro box would be here today but alas! So rest of today is make useful f key lists of the different locos and produce some sort of laminated flip card for both controllers. Something for easy reference for each loco. I've at last got to grips with the way the wheeltappers sound chips are set up for auto coach working and non auto! Quite alot of playable sounds but the " hiss" and general sound is a bit flat? Still I may get used to them and keep both 0-4-2 as wheel tappers? I think the pannier with its unknown sound project will be re blown with swd group 1. I really like the swd group 2 in the 72xx. Apart from digitrains stuff I cant say I've found another sound chip supplier who's videos or f key lists tick my boxes.
  19. That looks like a nice track plan with lots of operation options. I might of missed it but layout size??
  20. Looking good. Have you an overall track plan?
