  1. Ok fella ive sorted it, after much testing i have found a way to fit this decoder to this train without any mechanical modifying, so for anyone out there with this train and this decoder this is how it fits, hope this is helps. De-solder the factory 6 pin socket, insert from underneath (the decoder fits in upside down) and solder the decoders 6 pins directly to the PCB, this frees up 6mm, as the decoder will never have to come out of the loco anyway, i think this is the best option for reliability. Route the speaker wire under the pcb and fit the speaker the opposite end. Everything is in tact, no mods of the chassis needed. One of the tiny split chassis power screws flew somewhere so be careful, lol, gotta find another screw now from somewhere! Anyway all done, sounds beautiful. Now you have a spare 6pin micro male and female socket to make your own cab light power connection (from supplied dc plug)
  2. Got the iron on and tools out, im determined to get this to fit without taking out the pcb, i like to keep the integrity of the model as much as possible, theres a switch at the bottom for the tail lights no no problems there. Dont think digitrains knew it wouldnt fit, the one i was going to get was the hard wired version of the decoder and its 2mm shorter in length.
  3. Everythings working very nice, and the sounds the most crisp and clear ive ever heard! but one problem, the decoder doesnt fit under the bodyshell! grrrrrrrr
  4. Well this brilliant company have indeed given me the £15 sound file, im sticking with Digitrains permanently now, what a brilliant company they are.
  5. Doesnt traincontroller let you add images for trains?
  6. Hello folks, Well i've got a pretty good idea in my head what i want to do on my 5ft 5" x 2ft 6" baseboard in N gauge, my question is, i was planning to build a siding with the purpose of programming only, can the program track be connected to the main with isolated rail joiners? or will i have to totally separate it from the main completely, i'm using the digikeijs dr5000 system with dr4088 block detector box. Thanks.
  7. I really like zimo chips, and love how many cvs they have its a huge list. think my class 70 soundfile though doesnt have the "activedrive" function? so i hear anyway. The class70 is so ugly thats probably why i like it so much lol
  8. Are there any available that have their own decoder for N gauge? Thanks.
  9. Thanks, yes ill send the paperwork that came with it and see eh. i miss my colas 37
  10. Ok no worries should be a simple enough process with a multimeter, as the pcb has all the resistors onboard. But whats all this i hear about the lighting on the class 70, something to do with the marker lights not being correct or something.
  11. Its the wiring i was having issues with sorted now, the instructions for this device are just horrible, doesnt even tell you that you need to make a loop wire on the detector box
  12. True, i could send the paperwork that came with the train
  13. Contacted digitrains its £18 plus postage, however i don't have the receipt for this train as i bought it from ebay.
  14. I would not recommend Hornby TTS for anything.
  15. I ordered a farish class 70 a zimo sound chip and soundfile to match yesterday, this morning had an email from Digitrains saying i forgot to buy a speaker, so theyve sent me one out free, damn this really hit home that there are some genuine nice people still left in this world, bless them.
  16. Really? oh wow, wish they would do this with farish coaches! that's epic!
  17. You've done the right thing by fitting the pickups to the sides of the wheels rather than the tops, that way they don't pickup grime from the track any where near as much. Gotta ask, where do you get your phosphur bronze pickups from?
  18. I bought a 12v motor for this very purpose out of an old farish dmu and attached crocodile clips for when i use decoders that are designed for motor control when programming, something to do with the back emf setting, the decoder prefers to see a motor over a resistor. You have to be so careful with these decoders, doesnt take much to tip them over the edge and destroy their power circuitry.
  19. Thanks for the detailed explanation! i had no idea this decoder had all these functions, this is great news, ill stick to buying these then from now on. I hear the class 70 has very weird lighting, something about marker and high beam not being correct on farish or Bachmann versions? But this certainly is a welcome addition just fitting the decoder in with pins, however ive also heard the pins are too long so ill trim them down and tin them to ensure a snug fit.
  20. Just dropped them an email, will see what happens eh.
  21. Ill send them an email mate, thanks for that i will see what they say, i bought the class37 from ebay with the zimo chip fitted and pcb scrapped.
  22. Just bought this decoder from digitrains should be with me in a couple of days, with a class 70 farish loco and appropriate soundfile. Got a great deal on the "american ugly duckling class 70" only £84 Now looking at the schematic, it seems the 6pin type i have bought only controls the headlights, how would i go about connecting the tail lights and cablights? ive only ever used the zimo hardwired decoders as i thought it was best to scrap the farish PCB, but this time ive gone for the 6 pin version to save messing about. here is a diagram, Cheers.
