  1. Matildas vs Lionesses will decide who wins the world cup.
  2. So quick and dirty measurement of the Kres VT135 gives us a wheelbase of (appx) 58 mm, a chassis length of ~92 mm, and chassis width of ~23 mm. Translated to 1:1 in proper units, the wheelbase in scale is appx 22' 10", chassis length is appx 36' 2-1/2" and width appx 9' 0-3/4". Going off the diagrams, the AC railbus has a wheelbase of 19' 0", length over body of 36' 0", and width of 8' 11". The length and width are pretty close, but the wheelbase is off by three feet; looking at the pics on the Lincoln Locos site, this issue does look addressable by moving the sideframes about a bit, if one can live with the discrepancy in the wheelbase. The 22' 10" wheelbase of the VT135 is much closer to the 22' 0" wheelbase of the Bristol railbus, which Lincoln also offer... the Bristol is much longer than the VT135, so the Kres chassis should be adaptable to fit under the Bristol body without much difficulty. For the Park Royal and the W&M railbusses, the Kres VT95 is a much closer match in wheelbase, difference being only a fraction of an inch.
  3. With my acquisition of the diminutive Kres VT135 railbus, it occurs to me that I may have found a suitable chassis for the AC railbus Lincoln Locos offer... I'll give the VT135 a measure when I get home and will report back on what I find.
  4. I've only just discovered this thread and I have to say everything I see here is fantastic! And very inspirational, as I have a similar project in the planning stages; similar, in that it's focussing on Pen Mill, though at a later point in time (I'm focussing on 1965-to-1968-ish), and I'll be doing it in 1:120. I've a lot to learn though, as this is my first venture into British modelling. I'm very keen on seeing your project as it develops further!
  5. I acquired a bunch of TT stuff from a late friend's estate... now I'm packing it all away as I'm going overseas (Africa) for a year at the end of next month. So I took a couple pictures of a few pieces for fun of a few of the new acquisitions... Le vin doit arriver a l'heure! État 230-936 (ex BR 38), limited run from Beckmann, with four SNCF wine barrel cars from BTTB... I have a soft spot for railbusses. I already had the Hungarian one on the right (from MTB), the new one is the Kres VT135 on the left. edit: maybe this could be a general "latest TT acquisition" thread for everyone?
  6. It kinda is, though. The only thing *almost* compatible with a British model railway scale is British N with Japanese N, which is 1:150 - so you could use Japanese road vehicles and buildings and suchlike and vice versa... but that's it. It is also impossible for another number to do, because it has to be a number that the rest of the world uses - and 87 is too close to 76, and 160 is too close to 148, so there's no point in trying to start British outline H0 or N:160, because there's really no benefit over any existing British scale other than being correct to gauge. So this leaves 1:120 as the only possible option. Hooray for us hardcore TTers!
  7. I can't wait to see this develop!
  8. And as has been discussed in that thread, the Piko V90 is also a useful chassis, with a little bit of cutting it'll fit into a cl 22. One day I'll get started on mine, but that's likely a year away as I'm likely going to be in Africa for a year from October, and am probably not going to be taking modelling stuff with.
  9. Scale width or near-scale width wheels in TT - like in any other scale - needs much finer track work than the regular scale standards set by NEM or NMRA... I know that Proto:120 is doable and works, as a friend did it experimentally just to see it it would work. For a small layout/module, it might be something to go for, if one really wants.
  10. Well, not to the same layout as my Hungarian stuff, I'll have a separate British layout, but Hornby's announcement is precisely what finally brought me over to British outline, anyways...
  11. This. Club was free to join. Everyone here (and wider afield) was aware of it. It was free, which is zero commitment to ever spend a penny...
  12. The Continental epochs are indeed widespread, but they really only fit Germany and perhaps Austria well - every other country differs significantly, and forcing the German epochs onto them is a rather ham-fisted kludge. The only one of the epochs that applies everywhere in the EU is epoch VI, i.e. the present-day open-access period. Forcing the Continental/German epoch system on the railways of Britain would be worse than useless.
  13. I'm not sure about sizes as I don't do electrics, but the Sommerfeldt ones do look far superior to the BTTB. That said I agree they're too short for the GG-1...
  14. Have you looked at Sommerfeldt's pantographs? They might work, I know they offer some single arm ones in TT, I think scissor type too.
  15. Vauxhall Velox in Vancouver... (well in New Westminster actually, but I liked the alliteration... Vancouver is a suburb of New Westminster)
  16. When I was a kid my great uncle had a Chevrolet Kingswood Estate, I swear it was bigger in the back than my room at the time was... we'd have four-five kids in there and have plenty of room... according to my dad it had the 454 engine and a 25 (imperial!) gallon fuel tank and it needed filling daily...
  17. Here's hoping, as it would be very useful indeed.
  18. @cary hill well I wish yous all the best next season. I'll always have a soft spot for Leicester, as in secondary school the only person who treated me like an actual human being was the custodian - he was from there and was an LFC supporter, always gave me his back issues of Shoot... I thought of him first when yous won the league.
  19. There does exist an SW1200 in RTR form from MTB but it is out of production so likely would be difficult to acquire... but worth perhaps keeping an eye out for.
  20. The other day I caught the Aranycsapat commemorative locomotive at Komárom...
  21. Diesels don't come to Budapest anymore, so I went to Székesfehérvár to see a Csörgő and a Sergei...
