  1. Starting work on another micro layout AND a confirmed new job. Happy Tuesday!

  2. Never thought when I'd be job hunting/redundant I'd be so happy with everything else in life!

  3. What is it with Dapol coupling hooks? You do so much as look at them & they ping into outer space!! 🥴

    1. Pete Haitch

      Pete Haitch

      Or the entire coupling, 'droops'.

Fully concur. The modern plastic one's are useless from just about every maker - not progress back in the day when they  (as in t/ls in general) were metal with the hook on a rivet they rarely failed. The clip on idea for the hook is not fit for purpose.

  4. Redundancy notice period has its perks: Getting paid to do no work, job hunt & browse RMWeb in between applications 😆

  5. No model building/purchases UFN due to completely unexpected redundancy tomorrow 🙄

  6. Apologies for lack of updates. Another loved one personal issue 🙄

  7. Debating whether I need another shunter or a mainline Bo-Bo for my Presflo micro 🤔

  8. Went on the Elizabeth Line for the 1st time (or Crossrail as it should be known 🤣) today! Was awesome!

  9. When you're dating someone who's apartment overlooks the railway through Basingstoke! 🔥😎

  10. Kernow did it to me again! Collecting a wagon order & came away with an additional Class 37 🤣

Get them to post it to you rather than collecting it.  It's cheaper in the long run!

  11. Call me late to the party but after acquiring an Accurascale model: OMG the quality is 🔥

  12. I'm in beautiful York next weekend. Any good model shops in that neck of the woods? 🚆

Monk Bar Model shop in York, concur with the other posters.  If you are driving in from the south Hensall has a good one by the station and level crossing.  Also a Hobbycraft up on the Monks Cross shopping complex with regular bus links to/from the City centre if you have gone to York on the train.

  16. Lock up your spare pieces of wood. 'Cos this happens when I find one spare! 🤦‍♂️😆IMG20230417220239.jpg.bf2ad550f3a9ddfa1a3793e8d24c2163.jpg

  17. That's all the OO locos/stock sold. Time to expand the HO! 🙂

  18. Why do old Wrenn products fetch such exorbitant prices on ebay & with used stock retailers?

    1. Northmoor

      Northmoor

Circular logic: Wrenn models always were expensive, so they must be worth collecting as valued items tend to go up in value, so people collect them, there is a finite supply which drives the price up, so they must be worth collecting......

Interesting. I've noticed it recently & couldn't fathom out why 😀

I remember dreaming of buying a second hand Wrenn 08 shunter way back in the 1980s, they were that expensive back then!

  19. What are people's loco fleet sizes like?

    I have 2 x shunters & 6 x big diesels to operate 2 micro layouts 🤔

The first rule about how many locos you own, you don't talk about how many locos you own!

For a small Scottish branchline with two services a day each way, I seem to have an awful lot of Class 37's...

Be sure you want to before you do it. I have found the new one’s very poor and would happily swap the small one’s on my modern stock for older types that work. I have bought some Sprat & Winkles but have yet to start fitting them.
