  1. All you “OO” , “N”, “O”, and whatever else scale naysayers please take note. TT:120 is here to stay. It’s new. It’s in touch with the modern lifestyle (generally smaller dwellings and rooms). It was launched 19 months ago so don’t expect the vast range of product that, for example, OO has after nigh on 50 years or N after 20. I for one think this scale is great, and I’m fortunate in having the financial clout to have been able to purchase near enough everything that has so far been produced. I’m not a “rivet counter” and I certainly wouldn’t worry too much about a shade of maroon or blue being a bit out on a coach. I connect a loco to some coaches and they go round and look ok, then I’m happy. It’s called playing trains - some forget that. Perhaps this is the wrong forum to make these points. Maybe it’s not. Whatever. Just trying to put the younger point of view for you all. I’ll only be 67 next month after all…..

    TT120: HST

This was mine the day it arrived. https://youtu.be/0J9G5egPFJo
  3. I used to use Clearpay and it worked great. They recently stopped allowing Amex cards - the 1% Cashback was a small bonus - so I just use whatever portal is there. I had 3 TTAs on pre-order which are now being processed individually. Which means three lots of post & packing. I called CS and was told that as long as they all arrive together (the werehouse will endeavour to try to send them together), I can call and get my P&P costs refunded. Once my club membership has expired I won’t be looking on their website for future purchases. At least all the other retailers I’ve dealt with are working in this century.
  4. There was a period from just before Christmas and quite a few days into the new year when the Android app stopped working for many people after an app update. The timing couldn’t have been worse for so many reasons… new HM7000 locos and sets arriving (especially in TT:120), no option to speak to the app devs (as they’re always on a multi-week holiday at that time of the year), not a lot of online support (although the guys on the Hornby forum did their best). How many people tried HM7000 in those two weeks, couldn’t get it to work, and have just forgotten about it? For me it’s been a great. But I started with it in the summer (using an iPad) and luckily I’m not dumb with technology. How might it have been for the mums and dads that bought their kids a Bluetooth train set for Christmas to run on a Samsung phone (other android models are available) and they couldn’t even get it to run. One has to wonder who was the bright spark that authorised an app update just days before Christmas before it could have been properly tested in the void.
  5. Rails of Sheffield have announced that they’re now official TT:120 retailers. Must be a plus mark for the scale.
  6. Just ordered a handful of next 18’s from Hattons, all ready for the class 50 and 66 TT:120’s (not available to pre order with sound fitted) hopefully coming in the next few months. Or something else so far unannounced…
  7. Rails have been Hornby stockists again for the past couple of months and are hoping to have TT:120 on their shelves early next year (they’ve already sold a few secondhand TT:120 items).
  8. I m reliably informed that the cost of containers from China is far lower than it crazily was a year or two ago. Perhaps the overall cost base for items manufactured in China is lower now than at this time last year? That could only add to the bottom line.
