So the last few months i have been working on some Bachmann Peaks, as with most things it's taken a lot longer to get them finished but I am happy with how they have come out.

45110 45128 had a bit more work too make them a 45/1roof mods side steps removed centre headlights fitted.

My original plan was to do a few Heljan Peaks. I thought I could live with the shape issues but I just wasn't happy with the build quality on the one I bought and it just didn't run that well either.

    Anyway a few pics.

I gave my new Heljan 10800 a run on the layout this afternoon with a few items of similar period stock. It gave me the idea that I could run the layout in a third period, mid 1950s, with other suitable wagons, plus a couple of Green 20s. Would need to temporarily disguise the portacabins but it could work. Will mull this one over…

And yet more decorating with transfers, this time the class 74, which has been sitting patiently on the turntable for ages. I found the acrylic paint I used took a long time to harden properly. Even before I took the photos, one of the data panels went missing (on the grille side), so I'll have to find a replacement in my stocks of transfers. Welcome to the fleet E6102. The photos show some of the rough bits rather cruelly, I'm afraid, but it looks okay at normal viewing distances.

Managed to finish the loops at the east end of the layout. I also have installed an EMU berthing siding which can hold a 4 car with ease.

Next job will be to rework the west end to add a couple of loops and some form of loco stabling area.
