  8. I always like to weather my scalescene kits before printing out and I've not had a problem in the past in doing this in GIMP, however, for some reason the last few times I've tried to do this, the finished weathered image prints out much smaller than requested. I've scoured the internt looking for an answer to this but have not found anything that works. Anyone else had this problem and solved it? Here's hoping.
  9. Thanks to you both for these posts
  10. With Christmas on the horizon can anyone make any suggestions for good books around the topic of secondary French Lines in the steam era please? French Language versions are ok too. Cheers!
  11. Colin, Mark and Pacific thank you for your most fabulous replies. Most helpful indeed. Cheers to all!
  12. Great post pacific. I believe this to be the location of the final scene. Would you agree?
  13. Careful study of Google earth (street view) will reveal the exact spot of the very final scene of the film. If you want to know it and can't find it, drop me a PM. Len
  14. I've recently developed quite an interest in French branch lines (under steam use) especially metre gauge ones. I've looked on Google for any DVD's of such a thing but I've found hardly anything beyond preserved steam (which is not really my 'bag') There must something out there! All I have so far is the rather excellent Railway Roundabout In Europe Part 1. Does anyone know if what I might be looking for even exists? I'd also be keen to receive any recommendations for books on the same subject that you might have read. Cheers in advance! Len
  15. Found this on another site, thought it was funny and worth sharing! "I was the signalman on duty in Crompton's Sidings signal box, when the line to Patricroft was closed, with all intervening the boxes decommissioned, and every signal removed. A light engine was erroneously signalled for Springs Branch Shed, which had to use this line to gain access to the shed, butit turned out to be a train with one luggage van. This train went as far as Howe Bridge, before the driver stopped to query the missing signals. He rang me from a nearby public house? It's all in the book! Later the line was singled, and re-opened to the open cast site at Bickershaw, controlled from Warrington Power signal box in September 1972. (Incidentally, the distant signal on this line was a semaphore. The only semaphore signal, on the entire Warrington Power Box area.)"
  16. Begs the question , I wonder what was the longest water trough?
