  1. Thanks for all the comments and advice. I have some old bits from tanks in 1/76 scale such as sprocket and idler wheels, chains and hooks. All should be fine when mixed with the odd railroad wagon wheel.
  2. Hi d&h thanks for your comments. I really like this idea of using tarpaulins. I could leave one truck uncovered and another covered.
  3. Hi today I have added a few bits of scrap around Coalman’s Yard with over doing it because of its size. I hope to have some coal sacks and a metal dustbin next week to add. Then I need to find one or two coal wagons to go with my Hornby terrier.
  4. I’m wanting to make a small pile of scrap on my diorama. Will old bits of old airfix model parts be ok to achieve this look.
  5. Jerry this sounds like an interesting theme for your new layout build. I’m certain members will be able to help you with the pictures you are looking for.
  6. Ian your layout is progressing nicely. I like how you have modelled the Methodists chapel.
  7. Hi the shed now has a coat of paint and the tin roof is fitted painted and weathered. I hope you like the pictures.
  8. Thanks folks for the likes. I have painted the shed area and placed the homemade tin sheeting on roof. Primed and just ready to weather. Hope to have a picture up soon. If anyone is wondering the baseboard and sides of the layout are made from spare bed slats I have laid around in the man cave.
  9. ... some more pictures of the shed build in progress on the test track.
  10. Afternoon fellow modellers. I have started to build what was going to be a test track but I got carried away and started build items around the track. The track is peco setrack with analogue power supply. I started to build a small platform and then I thought it would be nice to build a loading or goods shed from wood coffee stirrers. The shed is coming along great and the roof will have tin sheeting. Around the rest of the test track there will be a small embankment, ballast and some foliage. I hope it’s sounds good.
  11. Nice work on the fascia screen and as Luke has mentioned the Adams radial looks great on the forum.
  12. I like the back scene you have used Jerry. Track looks much better when painted.
  13. Jerry thanks for your kind comments. As for the coal sacks I still need to order some along with a couple of dustbins. I have no coal wagons as yet but I need them to be era 4 same as the terrier.
  14. Morning, today I have managed to take some shots of the progress on my shelf layout. Still a few more tiny bits to add and I thought it would be a good idea to put my new Hornby terrier on the layout.
  15. Morning fellow modellers. This morning I have managed to post some pictures. The grass scatter and real coal has had time to dry. Next will be some static grass work and place clumps of grass around the edges.
  16. An interesting little layout. I like your layer cake design and the weathering to brickwork look really good.
  17. Jerry thanks you for the positive comments, it means a great deal to someone who is just starting out. Today I have laid the grass scatter and I must say a lot easier than ballast work. I will post a few pictures later today.
  18. Thanks to everyone for the likes. Tomorrow I should be able to concentrate on the grass scatter and static grass areas.
  19. Afternoon fellow modellers. Some progress has been made on my little shelf layout. The office has been painted and weathered along with the surface area around the office. The ballasting is complete, it was my first go at ballasting and I hated it but it’s done and has turned out nicely. The ballast will be weathered around the coal staithe with powders. The grass will be added once the ballast has had to dry and set. picture of my progress.
  20. Nice work on the wagons Luke. It will be interesting to see if you go ahead with the longer wagons.
  21. Nice work Stu on the bushes and foliage.
