  1. struggling to find someone that makes an etched brass antenna for the Class 47 (the examples im modelling all had them) now i know they had a distinctive V shape base but i cant find one available, now there was a product listed on shawplan but without an image im clueless as to if its right, does anyone else do one or is it simple to fabricate from plasticard ? TIA
  2. Im looking for a few (6 or more) white metal or brass speedo drives for various diesel locos i have, unfortunately i can only find one for a class 47 and the maker craftsman are no longer in production. can you suggest some alternatives please? ta
  3. yes ive mounted it to the chassis rather than the bodyshell, i have some hose packs and Bachmann accessory packs to detail it :)
  4. having a go, first stage... thankfully 57/0s have very plain beams with not many contours.
  5. Hi all, I'm partway converting a lima class 47 into a class 57 (roof kit, underframe tanks from Bachmann, detail, repaint etc) the difference is most class 47 had a different non cutaway bufferbeam compared to the class 47 and the lima one is part of the body. Having measured it out would it be feasible and have any of you done it to scratch build a bufferbeam from plasticard? Thanks
  6. Hi all, i have the above kit from a car boot but there were no instructions, is there anywhere to download them so i can build it up?
  7. Thanks gang, i tried to use plasticard to make one didnt work, ill have a think as its which avenue best matches my skillset
  8. Hi new to the program.... might not even be the right one for the job im trying to make a class 31 roof cowling for the lima (00 gauge) model which means i need to start with an 18mm diameter cylinder, sadly im inept and cant get my head around the program. any pointers?
  9. yes the original railfreight grey locos had red cabfront logos
  10. Has anyone tried this on Hornby RTR stuff and if yes what was the success rate like?
  11. Anyone else terrified of fitting the green 'hubcaps' incase they fall off in use ?
  12. Same as other members on here, recieved replacement bogie (care when fitting due to small white spacer) but not the buffer beam expected too !
  13. Happy-ish with my version of this it was the £199.95 British Enterprise version in grey, No damage to report or running issues per se but i have noticed that the steps by the valve gear like to collect platforms and railside furniture and the 2-2 pony trucks do not touch the rails at all, not noticable at speed but you do know its there =/ has anyone come up with any fixes yet as theyre too minor to warrant returning to Hornby TIA
  14. Hi all wondering if you can help, Just acquired an older version of the Hornby A4 its 4482 Golden Eagle in apple green (lovely) looking at pictures the black valancing and tender frames had a red lining, if it were you how would you replicate this very fine lining? Thanks
  15. Any plans to make some Conflat Ps in 4mm for those of us that have a Heljan 28
  16. Does anyone know when the update kit will be available ? i recall them saying they were sending out new bufferbeams and front bogie to correct the errors not seen in the second batch?
  17. been stood for a few months and where they were stored was slightly damp but they were working when put away
  18. wooden wagons in real life i would imagine they weren't perfectly parallel anyway
  19. Final verdict is 3 out of my five controllers are knackered, One of the ones that works is an identical type to the three broken ones and the other working one is much much newer. out of the four that are the same (R.965). the working one has a totally different 'feel' to the potentiometer dial its very stiff in use but that seems to enable all my locos to vary between a barely perceptable crawl right thru to a sprint. Will hunt out a gaugemaster one as i do need an aux for points etc
  20. 00 Gauge, There was no control at all from when the loco picked up voltage to being on max, It does have a blanking plate fitted so that rules out DCC, I tried a much much older loco an 80s Hornby 8F and got the same result either full or stop and nothing in between. turns out the potentiometers on 3/5 of my old controllers are the same...time foe some new budget ones i think
  21. Short of opening it up can anyone assist me? I have a Dapol Class 22 which seems to have no control on DC, you select the direction and as you ease on the power it shoots off at its max speed. There seems to be no analogue speed control what so ever, Im using a mid 90s Hornby red knob DC controller (not sophisticated i know) but there is no speed control on the loco as soon as you get to about 1/2 way thats it full tilt. Have i accidentally bought a DCC locomotive andam i going to find a chip if i take the body off? is this normal DCC on DC symptoms?
  22. Hi there been a while since i was last on this thread, Yes i sent it away, turns out the contacts were foulling the wheels and the valvegear on the L/H side was bent making the wheels stiff, Runs great now
  23. Cant be... My name starts with a V and i got mine a week ago...
