Lovely looking models,
I also am impressed with Bachmanns details, great locos as a starting point. I have a almost 20 year old Bachmann 4MT tank that ive started running again recently. Its really nice and deserves some attention, maybe weathered etc, but i dont know where to start.

Hi Paul,
I have learnt an awful lot from rmweb and am happy to have contributed in some way. I have to admit my prototype knowledge is relatively poor so was unsure what to put. I saw a photo of a van with MT on it which i assume meant mixed traffic and no longer a dedicated produce carrier.
Cheer
I dont know what the markings mean either im afraid, i had assumed an "x" would mean empty. I hope someone on here knows the answer.

I love the blog section of RM, so many tips to pick up. I have liked the chalk markings on detailed wagons but was unsure how to achieve it. After reading this i went up in the loft armed with a ordinary white pencil and had a go, perfect result.
Thanks for the tip.
Paul.

Heres a shot of the goods loop heading South into the station. I have only recently started this extension, it runs around the loft to Sturminster Newton.
The goods shed is in the wrong place, it should be behind the station building in my neighbours loft. ( i have never seen a photograph of the original goods shed at Shillingstone).
I will be building bridge no 180 that goes over the road to Child Okeford just after the buffer stop on the layby siding.

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply.
I was leaning towards slaters for the less thickness plus flexability, i will use them for sure.
They look great on your layout.
I have started my first Dapol brake van, great little kit and as you say, great price.
Thanks
Paul.

Hi Westernviscount,
Great blog. I have bought a Dapol kit and will have a go at this, really like it.
I have a unrelated question if you dont mind. What do you use for the platform brick edges in the photos? I am struggling to find something to get the texture, maybe Wills or Slaters?

Paul,
Try the Peco brick station and their platform shelter/shed kits for Stur, not perfect but better than others.
Jack
Thats exactly what i have done Jack, plus a Wills kits stone water tower and Dapol signal box. Total cost less than i paid for Bachmann Shillingstone station building from the North Dorset Railway Trust, but at least that money went to a good cause.
I do read the Child Okeford blog and take some inspiration from it, thank you.
Paul.

This is my terminus based on Broadstone, lots still to do here. This was originally Swanage but it could not cope with my intended traffic, so was extended, goods yard added and access to MPD.
Note how the Metcalfe platforms have shrunk in the summer heat causing the fencing to warp. I am trying to find a good way to make platforms, any tips?- 3

Fantastic stuff, looks amazing. That wiggle we all get?, well i blame Enstien and all that gravity=mass stuff myself. Cmon Bachmann you need to change the laws of physics.
Only joking of course, what a wonderful model.

They do look good but uncoupling might be a problem, Still Kadees for me.
