I do not like that attitude of the pedigree vs the non-pedigree you do not make your own light shine brighter by putting out someone else’s flame -
Locomotion & Rails of Sheffield announce SE&CR D Class
markneilp14 replied to AY Mod's topic in Rails of Sheffield
Equalising beams between the front bogie pivot and the lead axle will ensure all 4 axles wheelsets are in direct contact more of the time. Mark -
It is nicely done and clearly a bit of fun i like the fact that its a lone railcar and in Virgin livery as in it cannot pull!!! Still nicely painted model
-
if its EM gauge how come its posed on a length of peco track? Looks well built though but sadly i can buy a Bachmann V2 with a makers garuntee for a lot less
-
How much? did the guy sneeze as he entered in the amount that he wanted?
-
wow a new level of delusional

Maybe it comes in a gold plated box. Who says you cant turn into money. Wheres muck there is brass!!

hattons 2nd hand is by far a lot better in this situation https://www.hattons.co.uk/489823/bachmann_branchline_31_996_po07_class_d_16_lms_10000_in_br_brunswick_green_with_part_eggshell_blue_waistband_pr/stockdetail.aspx

The bogies look like chopped down class 45 power bogies as they have the lead axle on a pivot arm. So probably on old knackered mainline diesel chassis. Paint job done with a cement mixer in a darkened room too, hmmmmm BARGAIN!!!! Its a project for someone who likes a challenge to turn a sows ear into a silk purse but not at £649.99 I would offer £6.49 for both the locos in that state and that includes the postage!! Mark

delusional https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/00-gauge-model-railway-layout-Job-Lot/392443301069?hash=item5b5f718ccd:g:lo0AAOSwiZpdc47g

the livery is awful they cannot really want that much fr this loco https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-GAUGE-LNER-J94-0-6-0-SADDLE-TANK-LOCOMOTIVE-68022-KIT-BUILT/323921526138?hash=item4b6b3a3d7a:g:qXkAAOSwmFBdg5Us

Very nice but a little high on the price based on the fact there is a RTR model. It is a shame whenever a loco that was always a kit loco suddenly becomes an RTR model it kills the market for well built kits. This looks as though it is a well built kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DJH-PRINCESS-ARTHUR-OF-CONNAUGHT-00-GAUGE-KIT-BUILT-LOCOMOTIVE/401896917748?hash=item5d92ec4af4:g:phIAAOSwY4JcRKxB

that is expensive for the captains table!!!!

Another ebay silly overpriced piece of old tat. Please do not spout its rare as TTTE is no longer Hornby blah blah blah. This hobby is so fast becoming swarmed with "bargain hunters" who think an old knackered model is worth more than its weight in gold. Get a grip on reality guys!!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-Thomas-James-No5-Red-Engine-and-Tender-Used-Unboxed-Runs-Well-00-Gauge/264450863487?hash=item3d927ff17f:g:3ggAAOSwYpJdbN2n

Highly optimistic in their financial valuation of these highly sought after, very rare items which are in A1 condition with out the original box. Its a Steal!!! You would be mad not to by this. Oh wait, you would be mad to buy this, bring on the men in white coats to take me to my padded cell!!!

thanks for that i needed a good laugh

Making a start in hand built track.
markneilp14 replied to Johnson52's topic in Handbuilt Track & Templot
I have done point building on my layout of Merstone using SMP rail and sleepers for the straight track but when it came to the points the track is a continuation of the rail and the points were built in situ to give gentle flowing lines with no dogs legs of reverse curves. I have used the copper clad strip. The picture below is an old one from 2015 so a lot has changed since then. The trackwork on Merstone is to a minimum of 5 foot radius. -

Should that not be ERM gauge
-
Ah i see. as you say we would chuck them in the bin or rob them for spares maybe. Does he ever actually sell anything then? Bizarre though how the sellers think they can ask for silly money for a junk. Mark

sorry to sound daft but who is selling it?

and this old thing looks almost professionally drop kicked https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-SCRATCH-KIT-BUILT-SOUTHERN-SR-0-4-0-TANK-LOCO-556-WEATHERED-mw/331201657044?hash=item4d1d2838d4:g:4RoAAOxyCTtTcRwd

oh look another probably from the same vendor https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KIT-BUILT-Hornby-THOMAS-the-TANK-ENGINE-TOBY-the-TRAM-0-4-0-LOCO-7-ns/333191003195?hash=item4d93bb3c3b:g:pPEAAOSwowdc1U7m

I found this on the buy it now option. I know the TTTE ex Hornby models sell for silly money but this is an old airfix badly painted for £99??? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KIT-BUILT-Hornby-THOMAS-the-TANK-ENGINE-GREEN-0-4-2-LOCO-OLIVER-11-ns/333191003215?hash=item4d93bb3c4f:g:NKIAAOSw-9Nc1U2R

As of last night I started the restoration work on the Bembridge layout. I purchased this layout from its former owner and builder Paul Mays about ten years ago. I purchased the layout and continued to exhibit it but eventually I decided to retire it 5 years ago so that Merstone could take its place. As I have an invite for Warley this year I need to replace the backscene with an in-built control panel, lighting rig, new fascias and tidy up the wiring underneath. I also had some BIG cobwebs and spiders to evict as well.
