  1. Hi Ian, the Holland newsletter says they are using the old wares of digikeijs. Here's a status report regarding delivery delays. And the YD7100 in particular. As already written on our website, there is no possibility of producing some products because DC-DC converter chips have been taken off the market. Affected are: YD7100, YD7101, YD7652, YD6016LN-RC, YD7910 and YD7912...... As the pre-order for the "YD7100 + 7101 Set" was already quite good, we worked out a temporary solution in consultation with our distribution partners. Through good contacts with Far Eastern manufacturers of ex-Digikeijs, we were able to get our hands on some remaining stocks of products that had been ordered by Digikeijs but never paid for. Logically, the producers did not send the goods at that time either. After the bankruptcy, we were approached and offered these products. Among these products were a limited number of DR5000 boards. We were also able to buy a larger batch of DR5000 cases. This combination allows us to offer a DR5000-based control panel called YD7001-E as a replacement for the pre-ordered "YD7100 + 7101 Set". The E can be read as "Extended". The YD7001-E is already equipped with the YD9401 upgrade, has a YaMoRC green LED, some current measurement weaknesses have been fixed and... gets the ability to measure both track current and track voltage. As well as the power supply input voltage. Exactly the same applies to our turntable controller YD7652. A similar offer applies to this too, as we also bought DR5052 remnants. Here, too, we are making some quality-improving changes. Then further what and how it will be done in the future 1. since the central unit is getting a new design, we are going to make a complete unit with everything from YD7100 + YD7101 in the same, large, enclosure instead of making a "small + extension". Attached are the pictures of the new YD7110 😉 We will come up with a further release date later this year. A very rough estimate says the end of April 2024. 2. because of the YD7110, the extension YD7101 will be dropped. 3. the "small" YD7100 could possibly be released in late 2024 if there is sufficient demand. 4. YD7652, YD6016LN-RC, YD7910 and YD7912.... Well... due to your huge demand for our products (very, very much THANK YOU for that (y) ), we are in a bit of a pinch when it comes to development. But because development is very, very important to stay in good shape in the future, we will temporarily stop production and distribution of the YD9401 until early December. We are very sorry about this, because we know how many are still to be delivered. But to stay healthy with company and people, this is an unpopular but very necessary measure 😢 Our booster YD7403 will be produced soon.   2. Many CV can also be changed through POM. Programing on Main. That the decoder does not respond via Prog. Could be that the voltage is too low. If I use a zimo MX ULF the display always shows 11.2 volts 2 amp. Or rather 11.2 volts is the lowest working voltage with a max of 2 amp. Try a higher voltage ( 17 volts and power i.v.m. the UPS capacitors.
  3. Hello , Is there anyone who can help me further along the way. I have the sound decoder file ZS33ASL class 33 from Digitrains L.t.d, and loaded it into the Zimo MS950. My question is about the Heljan roof fan of the class 33. The Heljan roof fan is not polarity sensitive, so it does not matter how it is connected. The original Heljan PCB was taken out and in its place was the Zimo PCB LokPL 950 that comes along with the Zimo MS950. From the supplied documentation from Digitrains, no wire connections are listed . I implemented the assigned function assignments from Soundfile of Digitrains ZS33ASL class 33 and wiring to the the Zimo PCB. Everything on the Heljan Class 33 runs and functions as named in the appendix of the soundfile. Was left how to connect the roof fan. The roof fan runs best on 1.5 volts. ( tested with a battery ). I want to control the running of the roof fan , to the designated sound function of the F key 15 , ( Sound Fan ) with the free function output FA5 . Considering the sound of the Fan is also recorded as random sound. Given that the Comm + gives the full track voltage ( 17 volts ). That is too high to bridge with resistors to 1.5 volt , besides it can give unwanted heat development. So I want to switch out to the +5 volt comm. So the Red wire has been soldered to +5 volt comm The other black wire of the Heljan roof fan has been soldered Function output FA 5. FA5 is technically an OpenCollector output of a transistors ... so when active (FA5 is "on") it draws to ground (so voltage difference between the consumer poles exists. Now I want to get from the 5 volts to a voltage of 1.5 volts by adjusting CV 60 value . However, it has been made clear to me, that voltage adjustment this is not done with CV 60 CV#60 defines a PMW-value ... so simple an "on-to-off-rate" for FO(s) If you set CV#60=128 (which is about the half of 255, half of the time the FO is "on" (draws to ground/0V) and half of the time the FO is "off" (high impedance) ... so in the case of an LED light , is then shining for 1 Millisecond, then 1 Millisecond it is off, then 1 Millisecond it is on, and so on. ... but the slow human eye don´t notice that very fast on/off rate (so you didn´t see the single turn on or the single turn off) ... you only notice that a LED is not shining so bright (in whole), when it is about 50% of the time off. When CV#60=204 it means that 80% of the time the LED is "on" ... and 20% of the time the LED is "off". With a CV60 value you NEVER change any voltage. So given the delta percent value between 5 volts and 1.5 volts the number -minus 70, would be the Dim factor which also applies to the Fan Motor . So that means the value for CV 60 = 179 ( 255 x 0.7=178.5 ). However the value of CV 60 gives 70 % reduction to all FA outputs due to the PWM. To excludes specific functions from dimming, i assigned the value 191 to CV#114, so that the dimming value would apply only to the FA5 output. The front and rear lights as well as FA1, FA2, FA3, FA4 , FA6 would then not be dimmed. However, despite all the preliminary work, it does not work. If I switch F15 on or off no reaction of the Fan . What am I overlooking. Should I not use the 5 volts and should I still use the Common Plus that has the track voltage of 17 volts.   4. Question There was an annoying loconet bug in the DR 5000. Ss this one now fixed by Karst , he was designer of the DR 5000 at Digikeijs at the time.
  5. Hello Forum Members, Is there anyone who can help me how to access the rear tow hook of the Dapol 0 gauge class 57xx Pannier. The tensile stress on the couplers in the curves with a radius of 1033 mm is too high that these couplers break, or the Dapol autocoach derails . It looks like the rear hook is stuck. The hook at the front of the Pannier has much more freedom of movement and there the problem does not occur. The supplied drawing of Dapol only provides information on the installation of a DCC decoder. I do not live in the UK, so going to Hattons or Osborne models is a big undertaking given the European customs formalities. Thanks in advance for thinking along. Rupert.
  6. Small update , Worked under the table today, removed old wiring and sorted it by length. The model railway " Wantstow " can be controlled by two DCC systems. Lenz and Tams All occupancy detection via the BiDiB Bus including the occupancy detection of the Lenz feedback system ( RS Bus ) . Or only the Lenz system with the Lenz LZV200 which uses only the the RS Bus. On the Tams mc2 i use the BIDIB BUS in combination with a interface RS to BiDIB ( made by Fichtelbahn ) . On this way i can use the RS Bus from Lenz, which is a complete autonomous system that communicate with the RS to BidiB interface. The so called cable salad is a conscious choice , this eliminate the chance of interference to another cable . Since then, no ghost feedback observed anymore. Regards, Rupert.

  9. Today I worked further, behind the shed I placed another platform. Possibly with the crane it will be a loading location for goods that do not go through the shed. Also thinking of loading cattle, but then a ramp needs to be added. Most of the work today was making bricks., and making a negative mould for a Typical cornwall brick wall. With the negative mould I can make bricks in High Density foam (styrodur). It's heavy work, because you have to press hard. The first result is very nice. Tomorrow I will continue with gluing the strips.
  10. Today I bought 10 bags each of 100 bamboo sticks with 3 bottles of "Tacky Glue" in a non food discount shop for less than 7 pounds. The sticks have a length of 140 mm, a width of 5 mm and a thickness of 1.5 mm. One side is flat, the other has a very slight curve to it, but can hardly be seen. It is possible to bend a stick with a 180-degree turn without breaking. It can be easily cut with a pair of side trimmers without the edges being dented, which is the case with spruce. Safety goggles are recommended when cutting.
  11. Today I started with the study of the freight shed. To get the feel of it, I converted the freight shed to millimetre scale 1:43. And put it on the model Yard Was amazed at how big it is, to store two cargo wagons. I have the strong impression that the standard kits, fiddle a lot with the scale sizes. In my experience they look much smaller. Or am I wrong?
  12. Hello Forum Menbers Work continued last weekend on "Wantstow". All the old rails could be reused. The last work was the placement of two custom rail pieces. A lot of work went into making the top of the rails exactly horizontal. At one spot, a 1.8 mm filler piece had to be placed over a length of 63 cm. This was also done with the help of a laser. Then came the check on the free profile. And here I did not come out well. But this was quickly solved, by removing the protection plate. Here I will glue a piece on the outside so that a possible derailment in the curve with a chance of falling is prevented. The next question arises does it all fit. Especially the yet to be built goods shed and the 65 ft turntable that has been waiting for customs clearance for now 11 days. The large outer dimensions of the turntable was cut out of an IkEA subfloor, and for the goods shed the dimensions were plotted on the location. I have not forgotten the remark of "Station Master", how they used to work , and yes, there is work space for the man with the Pinchbar. The red line is the free profile of track zero 1:45. The coming days will be all about soldering the DCC Rail Droppers to the occupied detection ( BiDiB ) . To be continued, with kind regards, Rupert van Swol

  15. The more I study this layout and the train movements that take place on it, I am increasingly aware of my lack of knowledge of the history and origins of British Railways. I assumed too easily that where railways were invented Great Britain was copied to, and by the countries on the continent. I have been looking for the so-called brake car in the Netherlands and Germany. Apparently the Westinghouse break system quickly gained a foothold on the continent. The brakeman became redundant at the end of the 19th century when the continuous air brake (westinghouse brake) made it possible to operate the brakes of all the vehicles of a train from the locomotive. It took several decades before all railway vehicles were equipped with such a brake, and the brakeman was definitely a thing of the past. Very instructive this journey of discovery but but I do not understand what a pinchbar does or works. Can't get it to translate. Is it a kind of crowbar kind regards Rupert
  16. Given Phil station master's comment Yesterday , about too limited goods handling in some model railway plans. I got the idea to add more types of transhipment, like a small coal depot, where two wagons can be transhipped by crane into trucks, which is has also a small coal loading point for the small steam locos. The class 08 diesel engine gets its fuel from this Coal loading site, but is refuelled from the tanker truck. On the far left at the end of track 4, I created a small ramp in mind, for loading life stock into a livestock wagon. To reach the coal transfer point, Track 5 can be crossed made of wooden planks between the rails. I have placed a truck on top for the dimension size. Platform X ( northside ) has been shortened and has no longer a passenger function, hence the fence. I have doubted for a long time to make this track a bit longer for the combined use with a Railcar. But I abandoned that plan. The turntable and the tunout have been moved, which is now just behind the curved turnout. The slight curve is unfortunately unavoidable. The freight station has a connecting track 3b which serves the tracks 3, 4 and 5. Track 3b is now extended as the level crossing has been removed. Track 3b has a length capacity of 10 wagons see picture . So after arrival of a freight train on track 3, track 3 can be cleared immediately. Also the wagons of the ACE (5 wagon length) can be parked there temporarily. There will be no locomotive shed , So much for the state of development of Wantstow RD , kind regards, Rupert
  17. Hello Mike , I agree with you. Because of your finding, I found that I had placed the largest length and width of my German freight wagons in the drawing. I had another Pecco wagon without a chassis and took over the length and dimensions. Ok it's not 20 but on the extended track 4 , now 15 wagons fit including the Pannier . I made a picture of a pre war G3 which is in 1:43 scale with the Pecco scale 0 also in 1:43, see the length difference. Thank you Phil for this contribution , indeed the more length , the more effectiveness of the freight yard . That will indeed be well tuned with the loadingmaster, Thank you David for your contributions, I looked at your drawing, I did not understand the intention offthe Coal Train. Here too was the setting up of e.g. Coal wagons to see how many wagons on the track actually could accommodate, with space to uncouple. But the safety aspect by means of a fence I found a welcome addition. Track 1 has been shortened. Platform 1 can no longer be used also here for safety a fence. Extending track 4 is definitely necessary. The location of the goods shed has been shifted to the north. More instinctively, the view of the points can be obstructed as the track is at a height of 1.03 metres. But I still have to build the goods shed. I am still looking for a drawing . Oh yes Almost forgot, moving the turnout more towards the Fiddel Yard was gold. I made a temporary partition of a tunnel, but a subway by a road is also possible.   18. Mike was right. I put the plan in 3 D mode, to look at it from a different perspective. That 3 way switch is so distracting in the picture and so removed. Personally I think this plan is sufficiently crystallized. More rails on a surface of 5.25 meter by 0.95 meter give a more restless image and adds very little. I am now orienting myself on the buildings and other railway stuff. I also found a photo of the rectangular water tower. Also looking for a technical drawing of a wooden British goods shed. Continue with the dismantling of the old layout. To be continued, kind regards
  19. Hi Mike, I am and will remain a Dutchman, if I look at what is not coming back on the layout it is a lot, including the 3-way switch, and that hurts. As it is a top product of Pecco, built for the lenz rail system I placed the turn loop to see if it can reach a part of the freight yard network for the transshipment of hydrocarbons, without losing the length of tracks 3a and 3. As you always want to keep hydrocarbons far away from sources of open fire like steam locomotives, I inserted a kink of 3.5 degrees. In this way I can also use my tank wagon e.g. to load a truck, and a small fuel tank installation for the Class 08 diesel locomotive. I could build this on track 3b instead of the scrap yard. But the feeling of "too full" always creeps up on me. your vision on this

  21. Hello Dave, In answer to your question. the starting point is at ground level, so value zero. Then I bend the straight flex in the desired angle (60 degrees and the radius xx CM). The next step is to select the curved flex and activate the Helix option. The helix is always a 360 degree circle , where the start point and end point are 180 degrees opposite to each other. But the start point and end point are not in the same horizontal plane, the start point is in the horizontal plane at level 0. The end point is in the horizontal plane at level 30. You can connect a turnout, or any other piece to the end or start point, if the correct height is assigned to that turnout or rail piece. Move it to its presumed location. There is only one connection point on that level, in this case 30, the blue dot appears, and the job is done. If you assign a rail piece with a height on level zero, it will connect to the start point. It hard to translate Dutch expressions into English, think of the Dutch football trainer, Louis van Gaal, you cannot translate it 1 to 1. so a picture explaine a lot. kind regards Rupert

  23. Hello Dave, Here is an example of a double helix. I have made it a bit more complicated. The inner cirkerl has a tighter radius. so the locomotive has a heavy vault on it if it has to climb. I made the slope smaller by adding more windings to it. So the only thing left is that the parralel distance between the two rails are equal. Otherwise they are two different spirals. If you want everything to be the same, you only have to keep the number of windings the same. Then both the distances and the height ascension are parallel.
  24. Hello Johnster, Wantstow station does not exist. I live in the Netherlands in a former Dutch Zuiderzee harbour called Enkhuizen. The street where I live is "In het Want". I was actually fed up with building crammed German model railways, which in principle can only run circularly. Point to point layouts are hard to find. I have always been charmed by the Victorian architecture and infrastructure. In any case Wantstow still has some elements of Padstow due to lack of space. In the last few days there have been many positive changes to the original plan. As I have a 65 ft turntable from Kitwood Hill Models and Padstow also had one, my choice fell on Padstow. The conversion will be slow. I am already very happy to have 2 steam locos from Dapol and the Diesel loco with 3 Dapol open wagons.   25. Hello Dave, excuse me for my lack of clarity. Ok now everything is made with flex, in the 2D mode it is difficult to find where the end point is which has a height of 30. In the 3 D I look it up, I use very deliberately an angle of 60 , then there are always 6 rail pieces . per 360 degrees . Then it is just a matter of giving the connecting rail the correct height and then "KliK. Good luck with trying it out Rupert
