It’s been a while since I’ve done anything on actual railway so I’m over the moon to have one of my locos back from my mate in work who is a wizard with the airbrush! He’s got 6435 now to work his magic, the plan is to cycle all my panniers through his works over the next few months.

Being dragged to Ikea by the wife has it’s benefits, I picked up this glass display cabinet for only £60! Ideal to display my collection safe in the knowledge they won’t get dusty or broken, there’s also a facility to add a light which I may take up at a later date.

Evening, has anyone been to one of the collectors club factory open days up at Dapol ? Ive had my invite to this years, so I was wondering if it was worth making the 3hr drive up. Do they have models on sale, quality control fails etc which would make it worth it as I picked up a lionheart 64XX for £250 due to it having its bunker lining missing on one side ! Any insight would be great

Your daughter was 15 at the time, she had the correct ticket, she was doing nothing wrong - fair play to her for refusing to provide her name and address to a male proporting to work for a TOC (it’s been known for people to pretend to be railway officials before). There is no requirement to carry ID in this country, it would be easier to do so if you wish to buy age restricted items of course. Let the official kick up, make a scene or call the police (good luck getting BTP to attend), no guard in their right mind will eject a 15 (suspected 15+) female from the train alone - if they attempt to simply refuse to move, again the majority of other passengers will support the lone female. Bad day or not this is the type of person who really shouldn’t be in the role anymore, they’ll come across someone equally as obnoxious at some point then moan with attached “compo face” when they get a punch in the face. My plan was to erect the first return loop this month, but the real railway calls - so instead I invested in a lovely Dapol / Lionheart Class 64XX Pannier in British Railways Lined green, this will be my fifth Pannier but my first green one! Brought directly from Dapol, at only £250 it was to good to leave - the super low price is because the batch failed quality control, only having the bunker lining printed on one side! By the time a bit of dirt is applied you’ll hardly notice the lack of lining, you could even say the loco was rushed out of Swindon before the paint shop could finish it !
