“You have to see the job finished before you start, and work accordingly.”
I'm also aware before I start something, that if things don't go to plan, a do over could well be on the cards.
For example, I painted the backscene for Bodmin Moor three times. Each time I thought it was fine when finished, but after a few days I scrapped it and started again using a different reference image. It's quite hard to be objective when you're too close to the work and just standing back is not really good enough. This has been the case many times and I don't feel gutted that I have to start again, I actually find it rather refreshing and the work improves immensely too.

Looks like the chap on the platform in the black leather trousers is demonstrating how to do a Michael Jackson moonwalk with hands on hips . . . .

My feeling is that even if you build it with the original blueprints, it could still look too big in the space available. So my mantra is to always go with what 'looks right' over what 'is right'.

General Information Announcement
For many, many months now I have been ploughing through this thread from page 1 to reinstate all pictures lost before the hard drive collapse of March 2022.
Yesterday evening I completed the task.....
In summary:
All my main pictures have now been reinstated (as they are saved on my computer as well as the cloud).
Most of the mobile phone ones have been as well but there are gaps as sometimes I would take and post whilst in the railway room but not save.
Naturally not be able to do the 3rd party pictures.
Great news!
Little Muddle was the main inspiration for getting me back into the hobby after a 30 year hiatus. And it continues to inspire me today.
