"Ere mate, d'you know the lid's blown off his logs?"

"You hum it and I'll play it."

Just caught up with this superbly modelled scene.

Reminded me of the Liskeard and Caradon, which I walked a few years ago.

I attach this photo by way of inspiration.

    Thanks Quintus.

That's a great shot, I love the weathering on that building, very inspirational. Who knows, this could end up on a layout near me one day?

But for many of us, getting the layout up and trains running is actually the objective, so we accept 16.5mm and other compromises.

I think you guys know, I love to build anything scenic including structures but track, no way. I'll leave all that to Peco and Marcway.

But isn't that the fascination of this hobby, something for everyone?

Wow that's a brilliant bit of work there George... your follow up to Bodmin Moor?

I've seen raindrops done in military modelling but not in 4mm yet how did you do that?

...as we're now very close to finishing Bodmin Moor, my thoughts are towards building another diorama.

I may have mentioned earlier that the plan for Bovey Quay was to start with all the main buildings and structures, before building baseboards etc. So the idea is to set the finished building, a corner pub called the 'Golden Cod' in a small scene complete with cobblestones on the quayside. And possibly at night in the rain.

It's all smoke and mirrors AKA Photoshop.

    Interesting, John.

I'm sure you know what rivet counters are?

    Now you'll meet feather verifiers.

"I'm sorry, bird x would never sing at this time of day."

"Do you realise that birds y and z are rarely, if ever, found together?"

"Your birdsong seems to be on repeat. Those birds don't repeat phrases..."

    And on it goes.

Birders are more picky than railway modellers, trust me😄

"I remember hearing a Nightingale sing somewhere..."

    "Berkeley Square per chance?"

    "That was it!"
