  1. My goodness, that is absolutely beautiful! I never thought I’d say it but WOW!
  2. I could get the livery but it would take me about a week to apply on my editing software. Diesels would be no problem but the A4 is just a bit too intricate.
  3. Right, getting the full IC livery went down the drain so I modified the BR lined blue. Not much to look at but I’m happy with it.
  4. Eureka, that's it! I'll paint it in Intercity colours! To Photoshop!
  5. I'm just going to have yellow buffer beams and corridor connection, the rest is blue and the black smokebox is retained.
  6. Same over here, although my livery is going more modern... BR blue?
  7. *INTERNAL SCREAMING* If they'll look like that, forget it!
  8. Here's a random idea - steam-electric locomotives? They could use the same principles as a normal locomotive, but as opposed to burning coal, they could use electric superheaters powered by third rail (or overhead) electricity, effectively being a giant version of the Hornby Live Steam mechanism. They'd also use modern advancements, improving on the older design like they did with Tornado, or a completely new locomotive design. Opinion?
  9. Here’s a question - remember the Stanier Conqueror concept? How quickly could that realistically go?
  10. Random idea, how about a 1Co-Co1 'Super Deltic', like an amalgamation of LMS 10000 and a Class 55? Would that be able to be used on the ECML?
  11. Here's an idea - what about a modified EMD F7? It would be shortened in terms of height and width in order to fit our loading gauge, and probably given Blue Pullman-style fronts and cabs and made to work in pairs - an early HST of sorts?
  12. Aye, not a bad point. While I've never been the biggest fan of diesels, I must admit the 08s are lovely beasts, and they influenced me to research more about British diesel traction. Long live the Gronks!
  13. Great idea - I did think they were missing something when a small shunting Standard wasn't designed.
  14. Smaller shunter/station pilot with a Terrier body?
  15. I have noticed that the 17 is practically a bigger version of the Class 14, which was far more successful. Maybe the 17s could have incorporated some of the equipment from their speedy little brethren?
  16. Not sure - I'm fairly sure the Paxman units came first, but I can't confirm it.
  17. A pair of 17s on merry-go-round workings, similar to the 20s, could work. Of course, make them Royce-engined versions!
  18. Hmm... what about a Royce 17 used as a station or yard pilot? Maybe at Immingham, Liverpool or Edinburgh?
  19. Excellent point Northmoor - that’s why I made the suggestion of a ‘Co-Co Clayton’ that would juuuuuuust edge into the Type 2/3 border.
  20. Off topic with some real locomotive sightings - in this case a picture I took of 7F No.53808 at the Mid Hants Autumn Gala last year. I was coming back from school, and had popped to the station to meet a friend, which gave me time to capture my favourite 2-8-0.
  21. I’m still convinced that given a bit of work and some new engines, the 17s could be wonderful engines.
