  1. Hello I've been attempting to find a 2P kit that I was hoping to build into the North Western Railway Number 2 from the very early Illustrations from 1945 as a Tribute to the 75th anniversary of The Railway Series, The model would have been bought new on 3SMR but the sites imperfect, very confusing to order from and only takes paypal. not that I have anything wrong with the site anyways, its a bit hard to use.... That purchase never happened... However luckily I found on ebay a seller that was selling one of these 2nd hand but mint from BEC whome I assume was one of the original Manufacturers I've never built one of their kits before, but would be pleased to learn! I have an Adjustable soldering iron and some 60/40 lead solder ready, although not with me at the time of writing this, But I'll have the model ready soon enough! you may have seen photos of said kit elsewhere but as a recap here's what it looks like for those who don't know here's what it looks like (Bottom) Again I never built one of these kits before, However I would like to add a very single very, very small robotics Servo for a moving eye Mechanism. that would be powered by a RC Receiver through the track Another idea I had was using the T.91 and T.92 components from the castle, specifically the Wheels, gears, Bogie and tender chassis... Couplers included. and a New Coreless Motor would be used too, but that I'm unsure of what kind to use, not sure if the T.91 4-6-0 Great Western Railway Castle wheels would wok to be honest Obviously pickups would have to be added to the tender and metal wheels added Thanks for any Help, its Really Appreciated!
  2. Hello, I've recently bought a Rosko HO train set that I'm hoping to run at some point in the near future, Its still pretty much in transit, however I'm curious to know if any of you had one as a kid, I'm planing to put together my own controller for it using apple components, a good thread on Model Railroader can be found here Apple Controlled Train Set/Rosko Train Discussion (Model Railroader) funnily enough the first post was was started by yours truly. it got really creative and interesting quickly I was wondering wen you may have gotten one, two maybe with pocket money from jobs etc? the one I bought was about $70 2nd hand it comes with Tubular HO Track which is chromed steel very much like Marx's and Lionel's track 3 rail track, which is one of the main reasons behind buying it, ok maybe not that entirely, I needed some 15" radius curved track of this style for a future layout the HO loco is pretty cool though and so are the frieght cars and will certainly be used This is technically my 2nd set, but this set is going to be a runner and I'm hoping to experiment with it The Tracks will be cleaned with a scotch bright pad and wheels, plus axle boxes will be maintained with Q-tips and a little rubbing alcohol
  3. Matchbox did produce a few mini models of Double Decker Busses with crimped axles Matchbox original No.5 Double Decker Bus ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That may provide interest
  4. Well that's interesting, have you considered making applications of models for the US market? American Flyer is widely used over here in the US of A... would love to do some possible S scale conversions with your kits with minimal work done, American Flyer DOES have a 4-4-0 so the chassis may only need slight modification (Removal of the cylinders etc.) to accept the K2 V3 body shell Possible Edward Chassis How to Mend old American Flyer (Toy Train 101) Personally I'd love a model of a Railway Series Edward in that Scale!
  5. Actually Piko make TT diesels that may be perfect for the basis of some UK shunters which you could convert into a British Railways Class 02 as an example TT 0-4-0
  6. I've thought of using Tillig track myself, Tri-ang Type A track is hard to find but its fun to work with, you can possibly ballast the sides and inside of the ties (Yes I'm a yank) like Bachmann Ez Track creating a very realistic road bed once you screw the track in How to Ballast Bachmann Ez Track by SMT Mainline Type A and B Track
  7. Guys, I think I found the model I've been looking for! on the notes about the DC-3 I'll be picking one up too I Just so happened to come across a 1:100 ornament of a Cessna 172 Skyhawk on eBay, wow! thanks for the input its appreciated 1:100 Skyhawk Ornament
  8. Hello, on a forum on model railroader post I discovered it may not be to far fetched to control a train set via apple charger plug using one of These to control speed for the set itself, now that has gotten me thinking of all sorts of things that this could be run by, say a computer or something else that may take 5-6 volts, however you would need a circuit breaker of sorts to use the set with for the laptop Now I'm tempted to try this idea out with my TT set which the Jinty has now a blue coat of paint, I used Tamiya brilliant blue but he pretty much should be done as I get some of These for the final finishing touches of the model, I'm pretty sure they will work as NWR type decals but here he is! he looks a lot better now though (Personal apologies for all the edits)
  9. Howdy! Hope you all had a Happy Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever you celebrate but I hope you guys/gals had a good time regardless. I got a TT train set for Christmas this year from the 50s that I will be creating a small Layout for, I wanted to have a Airport... or something that was suggesting an airport with a Cessna 172 on the ramp, Not sure what model would work, But it would be Appreciated! Here is the Train Set. Its the Rare TA Set with the battery controller, Need to get a couple Lantern Batteries for it. The Layout will be set in the 80s or 90s...
  10. Hello, the model in discussion today, is a Burlington Northern Santa Fe unit by Atlas and is a GP38-2 that I'm rebuilding for use with the Treble-O-Lectric Freight cars that Lone Star made, the conversion is quite simple, I took off the original couplings and glued on the Lone Star one's with a little plastic cement, the result works really well! And the Atlas is a HUGE upgrade from the original Lone Star F7 which the coupling is from, the coupling was bought in a chassis lot from eBay, even though I still appreciate the original rubber band F7's by Treble-O-Lectric. The model is currently awaiting transfers and will be renumbered to a GP40 code No. 3001, the model I'm re-numbering into a Character from a YouTube Series called Modern Railroad by Big Engine's 87 who's name is "Rocky" I'm rebuilding the unit to use Tension Locks because I have a bit of a collection of Lone Star Freight cars that I had the intent of running for a really long time... I'm having quite a fun time modeling this series, but for now, that's all there is, there isn't any more
  11. Right now, A Graham Farish 3F "Jinty" currently motor-less but I got that covered, it will be re-numbred to 47605 the example was originally 47313 I didn't quite fancy the original running number I will use a motor I got in a Tram Electrification Conversion kit meant for Corgi/Atlas Trams, I'm not sure who necessarily made both the motor and kit itself, but I figured it would be perfect considering its low speeds, perfect for shunting , the original gear that was used with the original commentator will be recycled for use on the new motor, the new pickups will be made from paperclips, the model will have a Branchline Passenger head-code, I intend to use the Jinty with Lone Star Treble-O-Trains Coaches and Wagons re-done to look like from Christopher Awdrys Stories for my model to pull, the model was made in the 80s or 90s and is die-cast, and currently it free rolls really well!
  12. Hello, I've been wanting to share this with you guys for a while... Its a Graham Farish Universal Tank Engine. what I've done to mine is I've taken off the original Transfers and added Some new transfers on, my goal is to make it seem a bit "Toy Like" as my Jinty will be fitting in with my Railway Series Thomas the Tank Engine models when I get around to building them.. all running off the same voltage pulling 50s and 60s Train Set like Consists. My Inquiry is, what kind of motor do I use??? I may be interested in 3 volt motors, running off a 4.5 volt power supply.... which I'm not sure where to look, I know their is a company who produces small 1.5 Volt N scale Trains... any information on the company would be Fantastic, I'm hoping to run it off rechargeable AAs. I wanted to convert mine as a bit of a Tribute, it would be Appreciated, I tried cleaning the Commentator of the loco, didn't help what so ever, Tried cleaning the gear as well, which didn't work to restore it. hence why I want to put in a new motor in the loco.
  13. In my Times Railway modeling with MANY different models I wanted to have a modern Coreless motor used in an Engine and 3 railed... for Amusement really, I'm not sure if a post Similar to this exists! so my apologies if their is one, I'm unaware... How do you Achieve such a modeling feat??? I've tried to isolate a modern Coreless motor before, which failed... I'll show you the chassis from a model I tried to update, its on a Newer shell, I'd be really interested to learn! Also I want to add a working Headlight to the buffer beam as well so I'd like to learn how to add that on, I have a few bits of Marklin Tin Track from the 1930s that I want to use badly... Its a Strasburg Railroad Thomas the Tank Engine that I'm working on, second version... the first is being used for something else... More modifications WILL be made without a doubt to suite the proper strasburg Porter/Thomas look! The old account I barley use anymore....
  14. Thanks!! and I apologize about not seeing your previous comment! also for the reply, I'll keep that in mind! Turns out the Date is a Time Stamp! Who knew!
  15. Hello again! I've been building my own N scale layout, I've been working on it for the past year, starting with 4014's Inaugural Excursion (what date was that again?) when it was single track, its changed somewhat.. Now the Train Set has a Double Track Mainline set up, exploiting the Time I have building with my very good Friend, which the latter is still very much current... We have been side Tracked recently with other projects and fix-me-ups, not Necessarily Restorations. Experience is Extremely Satisfying!!! It was fun to watch the Trains run around before and will be again. I'm basing it after a YouTube Parody Series called "Thomas in O Gauge" the Parody Series hence the Reason for all the American outlined models converted to UK outlined Prototypes. The Guy who used to produce the series, used Lionel AC Engines, which I'm Jealous he has! it was a Very creative idea, Not recommended for the Faint Hearted... its very Vulger not that I care for the swearing on my part. however I love it for its concept and the stories... you could say I'm a big fan! anyways, I've had some up and downs with this model railway, I used the fairy gardening glass Rocks as ballast--- bad idea from Experience. it completely mucked up the original Track set up which is under restoration currently.. the original track has been ripped upz I am using woodland scenics ballast on my 2nd attempt, and I am enjoying using this much more realistic and more scaled down Professional ballast. The Layout has a Tunnel, which will be Receiving its portals soon!! just as soon as I order them from woodland scenics... on Amazon. I Accidentally made a hole which I have patched up with some plaster cloth I had laying around.. I'm happy I still had some. The N scale Layout uses Code 80 Track, Atlas and Aurora branded! it has a very small "Lake" the controller that will be used for this layout works really well! Its by Aurora Postage Stamp Trains, wanting to get another one, on my own time... I'm still figuring out how to use the Terminal section.... The Experience of laying the Track is going good as well... I'm going to be rebuilding this to a winter layout, How good is the German Noch Snow kit?? Tempted to get the larger one on Reynaulds European Imports. Not sure how they are able to import Marklin and Noch item, Black Market maybe?? Structures included on the layout include those from Lone Star Treble O Lectric and Lemax, four three or four buildings have been in our family for YEARS Presumably. I have no idea where they may have come from what so ever. others were bought at local Hobby Shops! So Far this project, Build, Rebuild and restoration are all three a Labor of Love, I cannot wait to get this layout done!
  16. Good Afternoon RM web from the US of A! Currently 4 in the afternoon while writing this! I've been really curious for the past 2 weeks, I've been wanting to rebuild a Atlas GP 38-2 in a BNSF Paint job to use Authentic Lone Star Treble O Trains, Or Treble O Lectric Couplers, I ordered a BNSF GP38-2 a couple weeks ago, I'm eagerly awaiting it because the seller Literally just shipped yesterday, turns out he was on Vacation! I'm very excited to get this N scale model I'm hoping to haul some of my Vintage Lone Star Treble O Lectric And Treble O Trains Freight Cars once I get it... assuming some of you have done the same before on your own layouts... I'm Really keen to learn... I'm hoping to renumber this to 3001, which I am very aware is a GP40-2 Classification, Their are NO examples of GP40s in my budget or at all in the market Available, it was blooming hard to find this model, (I didn't think they existed!) I'm so thankful I was up at 11:00 that Saturday Night when I struck gold! again, any comments would be Extremely appreciated, without too much modification of the example given... photos of your conversions would be Appreciated too for easier understanding on my part.
  17. Thank You Ever So Much!! its Really, Really Appreciated, I will be getting the Tomy Tech TM-ED01 Chassis, never would have thought to use their chassis for this project...
  18. Hello! I'm wondering how it might be possible to re-power the Treble O Trains 0-8-0 (Baldwin?) switchers to electrification, I'm rather clueless on this subject as I don't know what chassis to use! I tried using a Kato 11-105 Chassis before, That didn't work what so ever.... I'd like to have something that can pull a decent sized Train, I will be rebuilding two examples that have red Bases to black ones.... Here are the models in question below, I will be repainting them into a pair of Caledonian Twins from a 1980s British Children's TV Program, one that I plan to model a adult comedy parody series based after the TV show, I will be scratch building my own tender shells for them based after the Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer models, hence why I chose them to portray Donald and Douglas as they are pretty close to the Pennsylvania Flyer models in O Gauge
  19. Hello, I'm in a slight pickle... I have a few pieces of Lone Star Treble O Lectric Railroad Track I'd like to use for a small Two Track Layout, my Inquiry is where can I possibly find Substitutes for the Treble O Lectric Rail Jointers and insulated Rail Jointers or Fishplates, I would not know where to begin to look, to replace/fix the broken pieces of model track... Any Comments regarding would be greatly Appreciated.
  20. Well this is a model that I'd never expect to purchase since they are hard to find, I'm very thankful! and excited to run it, I bought it today online, its not even here yet, since its still in transit, I'm eagerly awaiting its however... I'm wanting to know how to replace couplings on a N scale Atlas DC GP38 in with the More "Toy Like" British Lone Star Couplings to haul some of my much older Die-cast Treble O Lectric items, Its Appreciated!
  21. Hello, so recently I bought quite a Marx Train Set I bought it to use for this for this Upcoming Holiday or Christmas Season, I was hoping to operate it with a 9 volt rechargeable battery in the controller, for Improved Efficiency and for longer operation, I was wondering, since the model runs technically off 3 volts as I've had Experience with Electric Motors that run excellently off of 3 volts In O-27 that are also by Marx, I'm wondering how would I drop voltage without loosing current for this 4.5 volt motor and not stressing the motor out? how many of what diodes would I need and of what specific Type --- Thanks!
  22. In the past year or so I discovered, a new to me, but a very old Pioneering company that has been really useful so far for the plan I've got, I've been busy rebuilding 0-8-0s from a Foreign company called Lone Star which I'm sure many of you are familiar with the company. My project has been switching out components in the models so they look like they are from Treble O Lectric, but are really not... The plan is to rebuild four, and use the 5th for spares as the first photo isn't as Up to Date, as I'd like it to be, The Components are near to impossible to find! (where i'm from at least) The First inquiry is a non original but strong chassis to push the 0-8-0s so they can move along the 60s track with the die-cast freight cars in tow, 2nd inquiry is the appropriate screws to replace the flimsy plastic crank pin on the rear axel of the locomotives, what would you suggest?? I'd really Appreciate any help on the matter, thanks!
  23. A bunch of 0-8-0s by Lone Star Treble O Trains for me... kitbashing e'm into replicas of the Treble O Lectric 0-8-0s but using the original coupling rods. (Since I don't have the best budget)
  24. Hello, I've been wanting to kitbash my own British Railways class 03 shunter using a shapeways kit that I have been having trouble finding online, I Haven't had much luck finding the kit after a while, the first time I found it, I've been wanting to kit build 3 examples in BR Black a BR Green and a Lighter BR Green version, the latter will be un powered on purpose as it will be a flatbed load, I really Appreciate the help!
