Are you missing a row of roof panel latches on the left side, as viewed in the picture or is that a trick of the photograph / self fitting ?

They weren't self fitting, but I think it's the light as in the next pic where the ends are reversed they are there.

On a different note, the Bachmann  24/1 that I just got had the main (upper) part of the chassis  seemingly glued to the body and impossible to remove. Yes I removed all the screws holding the chassis to the body too, and only the lower chassis/running gear appeared to lift out..oh dear. Anyone else had this problem?? Not seen this in many years of chipping Bachmann locos. Have I got a dud?

Did you find the screws under the bogies (just in front of the rear wheels on each set)? Sorry if you did, but they are the ones that caught me out for a while as not a normal Bachmann placing.

Returning to the Hornby model, can any forum members provide definitive advice about any dcc decoder that WILL fit the 87?   So far I have deduced that even the dcc concepts 8  pin direct will not fit?

    Thanks in advance

I've got a lenz standard in mine. Wasnt the easiest to fit though, and have used the sticky pad you get with it to secure it underneath the circuit board above the driveshaft.

  4. I got one of these whilst in Scotland last month. It's going to control the sidings and goods yard around the distillery on my new layout. We were travelling around on a 15 day Spirit of Scotland rover, so managed to see the real box as well (excuse the rain it was an extremely wet day)
