Anybody tried Kadees on the tender?

The mount is so far underneath that a #18 doesn't even poke out under the corridor.

Looks like a #20 might be needed, the longest I have is a #19.

    Yes and you'll need a 20.

Well I popped in the modelshop on the way home and there on the counter was my Hush Hush just being prepared for a test :) So I assisted in the testing and we had a nice chat while it ran in. Fortunately no damage and sweet running and a stunning model. Just need a trip to the parents to give it a run as I have no stock to match it ;)

It’s a shame somewhere in the packing and transport process has resulted in damage but a good one is a delightful model.

I've been running mine with Clerestory and Hawksworths for the past 24 hours

  3. Yes, flanged wheels are in the detail bag.

Runs really smoothly, like most large Hornby steamers and the finish and curves are exquisite. No issues at all here.

Are you home yet then? Taken videos and pictures yet? Why not? Hurry up! Waiting waiting :jester:

Mail order this time unfortunately :( although it was shipped straight away by UPS so shouldn't  be too long :yahoo:

  5. On the show, they photographed and measured the ex FGW powercar at Crewe Heritage Centre, then 're-vamped' their current offering around the rear doors, front lights and coupling mechanism.  They also mentioned that a double sugar cube speaker would be present and new led lighting functions.  It looked pretty good!  Especially the coupling!

Such a shame the FGW set are finally being re-released on the old chassis :-(

Does anyone else think Bachmann have failed to step up with this model?

No, I quite like it.  Visually, its a stunner and it's a massive leap forward from the older 20's.   Then again, I only dabble in sound, and I can take or leave the marker lights as none of my other loco's have them anyway, so it would only show them up.

Are the steps that are missing from under the front corners of the cab provided in the extras bag?

    Thanks,

There's 3 pre fitted and one in the parts bag.  Guess not all examples had all 4 fitted?  Cant think of why else its done this way.

That's interesting and thanks for the quick reply.

It won't put anyone off buying what is a lovely and much-wanted model, I am sure, but it will be dealt with on mine as part of the preparation for weathering process.

I'm actually a little more interested in how the back-to-backs measure out.

Having said that, I'm hoping to hear the postman's knock here any day now!

     Mine are coming in at 14.48, 14.61 & 14.51.  A lot better than a how a certain 94xx arrived...

I can see much to like on that model but only one thing that is vexatious, which is the horizontal gap along the rear bunker.

Clearly part of the manufacturing process and can almost certainly be rectified with some filler and a little care, but I wonder if the top of the bunker needs to be removed for some kind of DCC purpose?

No, the (very detailed) instructions show the full top coming off in one. That join is a shame and keeps catching my eye already.
