    Good morning all,

Staining readily here and has been for some time.  It should become drier this afternoon but will probably remain cloudy.  13°C and might reach 19°C.

Migration of phones and broadband from BT to EE is a complete clusterf#ck.  Still no SIM card for my mobile, no new equipment, changeover date cancelled and now waiting for a new date.  Multiple calls and rants to various people made and all I've got so far is apology after apology.  Two phone calls have been promised for today but I won't hold my breath.

Good news is that after much eating and drinking on the cruise last week my weight has remained the same (although still a bit too high).  We managed to walk an average of about 2.8 miles a day (ashore and onboard ship) which is not bad for us so that helped burn off some calories.

Nothing planned today apart from waiting for the aforementioned phone calls so I may visit The Shed and play with some toys.

    Have a good one,

    Bob.

How much do you want to bet that they'll ring whilst you a) in the shed b) on the Khazi c) walking between shed and house and d) other.

It is my understanding that Customer Services operate under the following - an apology costs nothing whilst doing something is expensive. To date I can probably count on one hand the number of them that have disproved this.

This evening I set out to book car parking at the Co-op Live arena where we are going to see the Eagles in 4 weeks' time. The only way to do so is via a web site but to say that the web site is complete sh!t would be understating things and it is blindingly obvious that whoever designed it (designed? - bit of a misnomer there) did not have anyone test it before subjecting the poor suffering public to it. After trying for over half an hour to get somewhere near achieving the aim of booking a space I was just about to give up when I tried about the only thing I thus far hadn't done, mainly since it made no sense to do so. And guess what? It worked!! I therefore accepted the on-screen assurance that my booking was being confirmed via an email but when the email arrived it was just to say that I then had to download an app and then....... suffice it to say that eventually I succeeded but FFS what a performance. And, of course, the only way that you can now gain access to the car park is by having the booking displayed on the app, which effectively bars anyone not having a smart phone from being able to park there. The world really is being taken over by the witless.

    Rant? You betcha.

    Dave

Now if only you'd mentioned this I could have helped. We here at Manutopean car reserved parking establishment would have only been to happy to cater to your needs. We have four levels of service. There's the Premier at 1 K. This option provides liveried staff member meeting you at your preferred drop of point with champagne and nibbles of your choice; removal of car to secure location where it is washed, two layers of wax applied, cleaned inside and finally fueled; the vehicle is then returned to the designated collection point. We then have the Executive at £750 where you get all of the above less the nibbles and the champagne. Or there's the Welcome at £500 where you get the same as the Executive less one coat of wax and no fuel filling. Finally we have the Entry at £100 where we joy round Manutopea and your lucky if you get your car back at the end of the night.

So do delay as we are in high demand. As we say here at MCRP you've tried the best now try the £#&££#@ (censored)

  3. Here's a photo of the only iris in flower. I do like them but unfortunately they don't do very well here which is a disappointment.

This one is called Edith. Unfortunately I can't remember the rest of its name other than it's for a well known breeder of them.

Actually I think people often assume I am more capable than I am so when I can’t do something they think I am being “difficult”. If I don’t understand  something, I will ask. This seems to be quite annoying to some people.

Aditi knows to be specific in the gardening tasks, after I once pruned the wrong clematis. My task today was quite simple, to put all the tools away. Aditi was rushing in after being bitten by mosquitos. She seems to be more susceptible each year. When we first moved to Essex the mosquitos caused unpleasant reactions but I am less bothered now.

    Tony

That is one of things I used to drum into my staff and contractors. If you don't know ask. But it was very difficult sometimes.

I think I would have quite liked a career as a grounds maintenance operative.

Sorry looks like you've got a brain cell, your able to make a decision which is evidence of self determination, so I'm afraid you'll have to be a gardener instead.

  5. That sounds a bit like how grounds maintenance operatives ( please note that doesn't include gardeners) are hired in that if they are; upright, can hold a strimmer and walk they get the job.

Ps the brain cell is reserved for gardeners and above.

  6. That phot has several things in its favour here at Chateau Winslow.

Firstly it shows your very high standards of modelling. Secondly it's something that I don't think I've seen before (might be wrong here due to a combination of forgettery and and what was the question again) and finally it doesn't have a you know what in it - begins with a 'p' ends with an 'r', has seven letters.

🤣 sadly not anymore…..…it’ll be notifiable to RAIB & ORR. Who will no doubt drop by shortly to ask a few general questions.

Like please provide the following evidence.
Up to date SMS driven Pway Inspection frequencies, last date of inspection, who by, proof of training, proof of assessment and competence. Up to date work bank, fault response against engineering standards and fault close out dates.

Med screen crews, signalling staff…..and so on.

I’d be amazed if this hasn’t already happened. As there will be loads of evidence happily posted all over mugbook etc.

Best bit is that I well remember the days of jacking and packing stuff back on to the road….cameras are every.where now though. 😬

Yep know what your talking about there Grizz. Happy days.

The trouble is of course that not all the footage now a days is used to assist, rather the opposite and when all the who hars evaporated the problem is still there.

Class 50 loco very slightly ‘off the road’ at the Swanage Railway diesel gala…..very sad to see. Hopefully not too much damage to the loco. Not my photos, but forwarded multiple times.

Oh it'll be alright. A few two by fours, a bit of muscle and bobs your uncle.

    You worry to much Grizz.

I take it was the 'dimple'- technical term I know not, that caused it.

Not sure if I am honest, transfers have arrived for the WKT so that should take account of one day!!!

    Then……?

What do you think I should work on next?

    Lets start a new trend.

Would it be too much for it not to be a Pannier as according to the, WB & Priestly hypothesis, x + y = c (where x is too many and y is the square root of overkill then c =0) except when there's an 'a' in the month then its = -0.

    Fortunately no.

    Couple of weeks yet.

Been in shorts here for at least a month and no, I am not a postman.

Meanwhile, the skys above SM42 Towers are thick with gulls again.

Can hardly hear oneself think for all the sqawking.

I wonder if I can make a noise complaint against the RSPB or Natural England.

    Andy

Unheard of shorts in May what's is the world coming too.

So you've still got a couple of weeks have you. Well that's plenty of time. Leave it to the week before I'm certain they'll be plenty of bargains left. Oops that's Christmas isn't it.

    Ps shorts still being worn.

  12. I must warn my fellow TNM'rs that yesterday's warmth has reached a critical mass and even though there is still an 'a' in the month that, not only have the shorts been deployed, they are also being worn. Yes I know but what can one say.

Whether this will continue is hard to say. Stay tuned for further updates.

  14. Well it has been a lovely day here in Manutopea. It did start of a bit chilly but gradually as the day passed the warmth built up.

And to round the day off we had a tw£t riding a motorbike or rather standing on the seat I should say through the park.
