  1. Hello, I am looking to model a small layout with Rhostryfan station in 009 I have got a small board and a gaugemaster shuttle unit to power the train continuously up and down through the station/scenic section. I have currently got a fourdees Beddgelert , a ashbury summer coach and will be getting soon some slate wagons which will be mostly what will be used with Beddgelert as the train goes back and forth. Period will be around 1897-1906. However, i could do with knowing a few things before i get started. 1) What was the track like at that period, should i go for 'mainline' or 'worn/crazy'? 2) What was the station like roughly, was it similar to any other designs of stations on the NWNGR? 3) What was the rough layout of everything and a general track plan? Many Thanks, Jack
  2. i'm guessing it will be like how the Beatles Eurostar was done for booth the coach packs and the main sets, with plastic inserts. If so the box art will be gorgeous especially on the coach packs.
  3. When i pre ordered and got it dcc fitted they asked Hornby-It will be a decoder for each DTS to control the headlights and a decoder for every motored NDM-also where the sound will go in. Hope that helps.
  4. I totally agree they do look very good. I'm currently creating a section of the WCML platforms at Motherwell in the winter of 1981 to go with my APT. It's the section to the south, towards London.
  5. Hornby say summer 2021-some stores are a bit more specific and say July 2021.
  6. Just to add to this to give a little hope. Hornby put the coronation scot coaches as winter 2021-22 despite previously saying spring 2021. and later it was changed back to spring 2021 in a matter of of days, And now the coronation scot coaches have arrived on time at spring 2021. I think it could just be a small glitch. Thanks Jack
  7. Very easy to say with them smoke deflectors what i do believe were added to give it that southern style. there are 3 main pointers what tell me the link to RHDR locos in my eye. 1)The boiler Look at it, a circular, parallel style with that firebox, a design straight of an LNER A1 or RHDR loco. 2)the smokebox dart I know it's a very simple matter but very few of this style are seen but an appearance was made on the RHDR locos in the early days-see pictures below. 3)the vale gear Just look-It's almost identical in positions. smokebox dart comparion.
  8. An intresting and the most like idea. Going of this does anyone know anymore on the exact origins of the loco? Thanks Jack
  9. Thats what i have been thinking. Thanks for the advice. Jack
  10. Thank you for this information on the date the railway. you are right but also wrong RHDR as southern maid was built in 1926 and green goddess was built in 1925 so the railway could have easily taken and shrunk the plans by that point. Jack.
  11. Yes thats the best i think i'll get-from the son of an ex owner. Thanks Jack
  12. No i was recommend doing a new one this time specificlly with the words working in to appeal to others who may just glance other and there has been a few alterations.
  13. @ejstubbs oh thanks thats best break through i've had today. Can't thank you enough. Jack
  14. Thank you i have added some more of my theory's onto the new forum . Please have a look, considering u have seen please could you maybe have some guesses on my questions. Theres the new forum please do anything you can do to help. Thanks Jack
  15. Hello I have been admiring this little miniture railway what was on Hove's esplanade in the pre-war era called under two names the southern miniture railway and western lawn miniture railway. It also had connections to a orphanage in working for children who lost their fathers working on the railway and also i believed toured around the south of England. I have learnt a lot on the line but the are two subjects i can't answer. I believe the engine in question what i specifically what to know about(pacific)is a based upon Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway's southern maid but with smoke deflectors, please have a look and see what you think and give me you opinion,a second pair of eyes will really help me and will be greatly appreciated. I really would like to know more on the engine so any information on it will be very much appreciated. Here is the link to a short video of the line with the spare engine Drummond in action but will still show the track. https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-miniature-railway-1926-online My other question is what gauge it is it? Please if you do know comment. Also if u have experience with the various miniture railway gauges please could you make a guess by looking at the size of the people to track. I believe it could be either 5 or 7 1/4 (more of me thinks 5.), however this is only going from my very limited knowledge of miniture railways and comparison of todays miniture railway,I think it's 5 as judging by the size of a man he sits just over each sides but on Romney 2 men fit in between the sides so thats why i guess 5 inch as like before a second pair of eyes would help greatly Final thing is if anyone has any information, details of place where i could get information or books to buy please comment it all anything will be greatly appreciated as is so often with old miniture railways little can be found out about them. Thanks Jack

  17. These may be able to help you- https://www.electrarail.co.uk/triang--Hornby-mark-2a-coach-2442-p.asp If you look down in the livery options box there are the two DRS MOD barrier coaches, these are vinyls designed to go on to the old triang/Hornby railways mk2s. Hope this can help you.
  18. I could suggest you have a look at model rails miniature railway article-it's in two parts in issues 223 and 224 from july and august 2016. also below is some heywood trackplans https://lone.net/trains/carendt.morphoist.com/microplans/pages/real/narrow/index.html Hope this helps Jack.
  19. Thanks for the information however mighty atom i know currently has a different style of tender to prince edward of wales and little giant so may differ. Jack
  20. Hi i have always wanted to build an 09 basset lowke class 10 either little giant as she is today or Rhyls prince Edward of wales booth as per toady-i don't suppose you have any advice, drawings and tips on making one -anything will be greatly appreciated, Jack.
  21. I contacted them six mouths ago to enquire on katie-never asked about effie. i may suggest you contact them via the email on their website they will get back to you with a definitive answer. Also if you like haywood may i suggest a a look at minim gauge model who make some haywood coaches and heywood styled wagons. a combination of heywood locos from n drive and heywood rolling stock would give a good start on an 09 estate railway, also if modern day you could look at something like eaton halls shunter converted from narrow gauge, also you seem to be particularly based around the ravenglass and eskdale minimum gauge models do basset lowke coaches what i believe use to run on lal rattey and would go welll with any basset lowke engine, also on this note there are some 3d printed ravenglass 09 stuff and for ravenglass stuff try avalon models-i unfortunatly can't say much on their information but i would reccomend serching around https://www.n-driveproductions.com/contactus.htm http://www.mgmodels.co.uk/store/c37/09.html https://www.shapeways.com/product/KKVRSQMWN/o9-r-er-quot-lady-wakefield-quot-body-kit?li=marketplace&optionId=61108327 https://www.shapeways.com/product/STDHBGMJQ/r-er-icl-no-1-bunny?optionId=65730546&li=marketplace https://www.shapeways.com/product/RTD7958NB/r-er-arthur-heywood-ella-shelagh-or-ursula?optionId=65730258&li=marketplace https://www.shapeways.com/product/4KS6QVLJE/r-er-quot-river-mite-quot-o9-2-8-2-body?li=marketplace&optionId=63751465 https://www.shapeways.com/product/AATEYCHY7/r-er-quot-river-irt-quot-o9-0-8-2-body?optionId=63751463&li=shops https://www.shapeways.com/product/PDA3UME3A/r-er-quot-river-esk-quot-o9-2-8-2-body?optionId=56023543&li=shops https://www.shapeways.com/shops/keeneye?section=1%3A24+Scale+Models&s=0 Hope this helps you-Jack.
