  1. Hi folks,

found the following Picture in "British Standards at large" from Book Law Publications on Page 59.

The Picture shows 82027 at York. The date is May 1963. In the background on the left side, there is a Coach in a livery I can't recognize. The Coach seems to be a Gresley and has a Running Number which looks like it is from the Scotish Region (which is better visible in the Book than on that Screenshot). There is also a Coat to Arms or Rondel on the side.

It doesn't look Maroon to me, the red over the Lining seems to be too bright. What does the community think?

  2. I wonder how realistic and lucrative Gresley Main Line Coaches and Quadart Suburban/Branchline Coaches would be for Dapol.

The Mainline Coaches are mostly identical to the existing Coaches and with the Buffet Car, the "first" one already exist. The late build Quadart Coaches had the same Gresley Standard Bogies.

The one niggle identified both by "Charlie" and by Sam is the lack of sprung buffers on the A4.

I now have a pair of very expensive Continental locos (sound fitted) running on Bregstadt as the layout is becoming.

One is the Arnold Class 58 2-10-0, the sound fitted one being £391, and the other is a Roco Class 38 4-6-0, a mere snip at around £350 if you can find one (I was lucky).  Neither of these have sprung buffers.  Nor do my locos from Piko or Tillig have sprung buffers.  Sprung buffers are not a feature of TT:120.

I'm now going to upset a lot of people by saying IMHO sprung buffers in OO are a waste of time- when do they get depressed other than to say "look, it even has sprung buffers"?  If you are using them to shunt with three links, why aren't they fitted to all of the stock as well?  However, this is probably the only time I'm going to air my opinion and it isn't a grievance, and not something I would pan a model for having.

    Just a thought

    Les

Spring Buffers are mostly uncommon on german Loco Models. The only german company I know using Sprung Buffers is Brawa for their H0 Models. I'm also don't get why they should be important features on models.

  4. Just tell them you get that Set as Christmas / Birthday / Weddning / Whatever present should work?

Do we know if TT120 will be sold permanently by Hornby Exclusive over their own Webstore?

  5. Hello there,

did someone of the community swapped the shells of Dapol (ex) GWR Steam Locos to get different numbers and name plates - to change a GWR Loco into a later WR(BR) condition and vice versa?

Is it easy to take those Locos apart for switching parts?

BR adapted the Brunswick Green Livery of the GWR for their Passenger Locos, are those Dapol Locos painted in the same green when they come in GWR or WR(BR) conditions?

    Thanks for the answers

  6. All new build German Coaches after 1920 beginning with the DRG "Hechtwagen" from 1923 had solid wheels. Pre DRG  Prussian "Steel" Coaches had them already from 1911. Pre DRG Bavarian and Wurttembergian Coaches were still build with spoked wheels arround 1920.

  7. Hi folks,

did any GWR B Set Coaches existed with the boggie's positions of Dapols N-Gauge B Set Coaches?

I can't find any sources with B Set Coaches which had such far inside of the body lying boggies.

  8. Three GWR 0-6-0 Dean Goods ended in Germany after the Battle for France in 1940;

One was after 1945 renumbered as 53 7607 by the East German Deutsche Reichsbahn and was operated until 1955.

One ended after WW2 in West Germany but was ever operated again and go scrapped in the early 50s

One was claimed by the Red Army and was given to be operated by the Austrian BBÖ arround 1952.

Hornby could sell a TT120 Dean Goods as 53 7607 under the Arnold Brand as a limited run for East German / Continental Customers.
