  1. Hello everyone Once again it has been all go at Little Framling , and for a change the work has been on board no2. The point work and track has been laid and wired up and being as electrics are a real weak point with me , I’m please with how it has gone . Yes I know I have used scotchloks and I know quite a few don’t approve of them , but they work for me , especially as I’m not the worlds greatest solder , I am just waiting for a few switch holders to arrive and then I can do some testing to make sure it all works and then I can get going on the the scenery. I have added my partiality built goods shed so you can see where it is located Jayne
  2. Hi everyone I have just built one of my station name boards , and I’m really unsure about it Does it look just right or is it too large , should I leave it as is , or should I go for Lt FRAMLING Jayne
  3. I am just in complete awe , the level of craftsmanship is amazing and so beautifully done
  4. Hello everyone Once again it has been a busy time at Little Framling. The platform canopy has now been stuck in place as have the benches, the small end wall has been build and fitting and along with a few people the station is beginning to look right and feel like it is coming alive The Station Masters garden has been started with the fencing and a small shed, also some of the station fencing has been fitted along with a few bushes and a tree , and some cobblestone has been laid and a small fence around the entrance to the SM’s accommodation. All these little additions have really started to make the layout come alive , but there is still a lot , lot more to do Jayne
  5. Maybe you should have Locomotion on banking duties
  6. @Johann Marsbar I have looked up the old station site quite a few times on Google maps , and there isn’t a lot left , I think even the old goods shed has gone You can still just about work out where various buildings and the track went , but the more it gets developed the harder it becomes
  7. Hi everyone With my first scratch build almost finished , I have now started on my second , which with a lot of lessons learnt on the first one , I hopefully won’t make the same mistakes One lesson I definitely learned was use thicker card and on this one I am I’ve attached a couple of photos of my station and one of the new one , I’ll let you guess as to what it will be Jayne
  8. @Allegheny1600, Hi John , thank you it’s starting to get there , and I am really happy with how it is going Yes there will be a few characters working at the station , like the Pheasant shooting signalman , who usually manages to bag a couple during the season , and if it isn’t them it’s rabbits, he’s good mates with the goods yard foreman. I’ve yet to give them names , but I am sure I will think of some soon Jayne
  9. Hi everyone It has been a busy week and a bit here at Little Framling , I have got a few more lights going on the station platform and they look quite good , I’ve fitting the platform back wall up to the end of the original platform , the rest will be railings and I have been busy working on the goods shed , which I am very pleased with. I have also been painting my GER benches which I got from Shapeways , an expensive indulgence but they look so good On a more serious note , the Station Master was not very happy with my temporary repair to the platform surface, so he was straight on the phone to the regional office and they made me resurface the whole lot . The Station Master was very pleased with my work , until I drilled a hole for one of the platform lights in the wrong place , needless to say he is not a happy bunny
  10. Hello everyone I have been doing a bit more work on layout , the platform canopy is finished , although the matt black roof does have a bit of a sheen to it , so if anyone has any ideas how to dull it down The platform has had a tarmac repair and the station masters garden fencing has been laid out for sizing and the small end wall for the canopy has been started Jayne
  11. Hello everyone My first scratch build is almost over , the platform canopy is finished , all that remains is the guttering and drain pipes and one small wall which I’ve just started , so hopefully by the end of the week I should be done The only down point is the canopy roof is supposed to be matt black, but it has a distinctive sheen to it , any ideas to how I can matt it down Jayne
  12. I had the same problem with my station building roof , like @john new said the easiest way is to use thin card templates first before making the roof proper
  13. I would go with what @PatB said and have a looking in the CJ Freezer book , there is plenty in there for most small locations , I think there is a few in book for narrow gauge
  14. @stivesnick. Hi Nick , thank you , I’m really pleased with the layout so far Little Framling is based on Framlingham, although not an exact copy , so along side the station there will be the Station Tavern which I’m going to have to scratch build as I cannot find one that will fit , next to that will be about four terrace houses and then the yard will open out and there will be a range of various buildings ie coal and wood merchants, small warehouses that will line the back siding and depending on how much room I have they’ll either be full buildings or low relief The jigsaw of where to put buildings etc is slowly coming together , and sometimes it’s the smallest of parts that determine where they go , for me it’s the double goods yard gates which I’ve just built , so now I know how much room I have to play with for the goods yard entrance Jayne
  15. @willsheldrake Hi will , thank you I’m really pleased with how the building turned out , being as it was my first go at scratch building . The canopy is from Lcut , they do all the separate pieces to make one , I then just modified the columns as they were too tall and bit of cutting with the roof bits and I ended up with what I was after Jayne
  16. Hello everyone, I have been working on the platform canopy and I’ve just trial fitted it to the platform and it look rather good , I am hoping that the slight unevenness in the roof will smooth it’s self out once it has been fitted. The canopy just needs the painting finished off and the valences attached Jayne
  17. @wagoneer Looks like we are both on the same path as to scratch building , and it’s one that I’m finding very satisfying All the best with your 4mm building with your son Jayne
  18. Hello everyone Just a little bit done to the station building but something I think adds a lot to it , and that is a few LNER advertising boards, they really make a difference The canopies are in the process of being built , and I’ve got some more guttering on order I have got loads going on for the layout with fences , gates and coming soon the Station Masters garden Jayne
  19. Hello everyone Just a little bit done to the station building but something I think adds a lot to it , and that is a few LNER advertising boards, they really make a difference The canopies are in the process of being built , and I’ve got some more guttering on order Once this is finished I shall be starting on scratch build 2 , as once again I cannot find anything that goes Jayne
  20. I do love a sleepy Southern branch line , and you’ve got it dead right , the attention to detail is brilliant and I really like your background
  21. Hello everyone, it’s only been a couple of days since my last post , and now with the bit between my teeth I have been cracking on with base board 1. Around the station building I built up the ground with polystyrene sheets to keep it light and which has a gentle slope down to rail level for the goods yard, I then added some thin card strips for contouring which was then covered with plaster strips. Once dried it’s has been painted in an earthy brown . I’m quite happy with how it is going at the moment Jayne
  22. Superb bit of modelling, I just love your back scene , the way you’ve captured the moody sky
  23. @col.stephens Thank you Terry , it’s a bit scrappy in places but I’m pleased with it , certainly learnt a lot by building it As for your question I really don’t know , I know it won’t be the goods or engine sheds as I’ve bought Lcut kits for those , I might have a go at some of the building that will go along the back siding once I’ve laid it jayne
