Little Framling , a ex GER branch line terminus
Great Eastern Lady replied to Great Eastern Lady's topic in Layout topics
Hello everyone I have been doing some more work on the station building as I’d like to get it almost finished before I start on baseboard 1 again. The entrance canopy has been built which I got from Lcut and has been fitted, the roof is finished except for the guttering’s and the extension building has been completed with advertising signs and fire buckets. I have some LNER signs on order which should be with me soon and then they’ll be attached I’ve got a bit of light bleed coming from the roof which I’ve left detachable so I can replace LED’s should I need to All in all I am pretty happy with how it is turning out Jayne- 51 replies

What a wonderful superbly detailed layout, full of Great Western atmosphere, and so much reminds me of my visit to the South Devon Railway many years ago
-
@Dunsignalling It wasn’t so long ago almost everything was either GWR or LMS , and Southern and LNER were the poor relations with very few models coming out Even now if you do a google search for GER , it comes up with ‘ are you sure you don’t mean GWR

Hello everyone and a belated happy new year Well it’s been quite a few months since I last posted anything and after a few dormant months I finally got going again on the station building The roof is almost finished bar the guttering and entrance canopy and the extension building is 3/4 finished . Once the building is finished I’ll start on the platform canopy , which I’ve already got the pieces from Lcut- 51 replies

A Y14 in GER blue with either teak or Crimson red six wheelers and I would have bitten theirs hands off
-
I found the 16xx ,looks like they’re doing the 15xx as well , just glad I didn’t mention them lol
-
As much as I admire the new 2021 range of steam locomotives, they’re all big main line engines, there is nothing small or medium I know I’ve mentioned F5, F6 and E4s a few times , mainly because they’re what I’m after, but they are also small , likewise with J17, J69 . Now I’m no expert on locomotive classes but I’m sure there are many that modellers would like to see like 16xx , the three cylinder Stainiers they used on the LTSR and many more I’m not having a go at Hornby , just an opinion

I recognise that place and the carriage , volunteered there for long enough , but that was a long time ago lol I’m looking at the hattons ones at the moment tough choice

Now I’m in a dilemma, do I A , pre-order Hornby in LNER teak , or B , pre-order hattons in LNER brown -
@Edwardian I’ll have a look on the GER society website , they’re pretty good at information like that
-
@PhilJ W Funny you should say that I was just looking at Hattons range , and as you mentioned they are doing GER , but it looks like the earlier livery , I was after the later Crimson livery @Edwardian It’s close , but knowing the crest is wrong would really bug me
-
I am Defo going to order up a set in LNER teak and with the interior lights . Shame they didn’t do some in late GER livery , maybe next year
-
I remember back in the late 80s early 90s I had a Hornby cl58 , can’t remember the livery and I also had an AC electric , once again I cannot quite remember whether it was a cl86 or 87 , but it was in a set and it came with working over head wires which from memory were hugely over scale Back to present day and I’d still like an F5 or F6
-
Hornby have produced a few J15’s in LNER liveries and in BR , but not in GER blue , now that would look amazing I still would like either an F5 or F6
-
For me personally i would like to see Holden T26/E4 , 2-4-0 Holden G69/F6 , 2-4-2T Holden S56/J69 , 0-6-0T GER corridor bogie carriages in Crimson Others that i would love to see , although they would not be for me as i'm not modelling them are Urie G16 , 4-8-0T Urie H16 , 4-6-2T Maunsell W Class , 2-6-4T And LNER J94

My first train set was a Triang , had a red clockwork loco that didn’t really resemble anything , three wagons and a circle of track . I remember setting up around the Christmas tree, made a little tunnel out of boxes and I loved it . I would just sit there for hours just watching go around and then putting the key in rewinding it and off we’d go again

Those pumps do spit , and trying to get to the fireman’s water valve for the injectors without burning your hand is great fun (not)

Try cleaning or chucking out a fire on a Terrier , a 57xx is so spacious

Thank you @jazzer , I’m really pleased with how it is turning out , a lot better than I’d thought . I’ve still got quite a bit to do before the building is finished and then I can start on the canopies -

Hello everyone I have been quite busy with the station building over the last few weeks , the Station Masters office is finished and I have just a few finishing touches to do to the parcels office and refreshments room and the lights are working lovely. I know they look a bit bright , I do have a dimmer switch just haven’t wired it yet . Quite chuffed it’s all coming together Jayne- 51 replies

Hello everyone it has been a few months since my last post , and now I have been able to get the electrical connections I needed from Modelit work has started on the station building again The station Masters office is now finished , just got to add the man himself and the general waiting room/refreshments room is almost finished . I think I might have made the refreshments counter a bit too long , still a bit late now as I’ve glued it down. Anyone got any ideas how I can furnish the counter With may be tea urn and plates etc Oh and the lights work I have attached a few photos
