  1. Nice weathering Andrew. Transforms it! Graham
  2. Those downloads have scaled up really well. Thinking of trying something similar myself.
  3. Prior to progressing the platform further, I have started thinking about a backscene. As a first stage I am putting a retaining wall along the whole length of the layout. Similar construction to the platform walls. The next stage is to add some coping stones to the top.
  4. Looks good John, you’ve got a nice size layout to work with too. Graham
  5. The platform sides have been lined. I used a downloadable brick paper which I printed onto artists watercolour paper to try and give it a bit more texture than just plain card. Not really sure that made much difference though. The brick piers cover the joins in the paper.
  6. Hi Andrew, Yes, exactly that. It is actually a balsa frame, but only because I inherited a load of balsa so it was a cheap option. Otherwise I would have probably used something with a bit more strength. Graham
  7. Thanks Henry C for your kind comments. I’m no expert modeller but it provides a bit of enjoyment trying to do my best, and hopefully learning a bit as I go along.
  8. Thanks, yes it’s starting to look more the part now. I could put a heater on in the garage, but I try to avoid the expense if possible. There are some things I may be able to progress indoors like the section of toll bridge, which is probably the next thing to build anyway.
  9. A slight modification was needed to the boat landing stage, as I had forgotten the steps. This has been done and handrails added. The fence between station building and hotel has also been fitted. As it is now getting rather too cold to work in the garage I will be turning my attention back to my 7mm layout for a while.
  10. Back on the winter project as it’s getting too cold to work in the garage on the 4mm layout. A start has been made on the platform supporting walls.
  11. The station building is now in place and the paths around it surfaced. Additionally the garden has been completed, although the fence in front still needs adding. Work is in progress on the roadway across the tracks to the bridge. Construction of the river bank at the foot of the wall is underway. The distance between the station and hotel should be greater, but that is one of the compromises needed for the layout length.
  12. Whilst making some plants for the station garden I tried adding foliage to few pieces of sea foam which are now on the embankment.
  13. The ‘George Hotel’ is now in place, and front path ‘gravelled’.
  14. Hotel path handrails made and paths surfaced. A little ‘flower’ colour added to the shrubbery!
  15. Fencing along road complete and a start made on surfacing the yard.
  16. All recent attention has been to my 4mm layout, but I did connect up the signal box lighting.
  17. Now the goods shed and the other smaller buildings are in place, I will be able to continue constructing the road and goods yard surface.
  18. Various sheds and buildings ready to go in the goods yard.
  19. Tried that too, but it made no difference that I could tell. Still get the message everytime I click on a topic unfortunately.
