  1. Thanks, having lit the main buildings - station, goods shed, signal box etc. I didn’t just want a row of dark building shells along the backscene.
  2. A couple of similar pictures with the internal lights on. Each property has an LED mounted on the inside front wall to illuminate the interior back walls which have printed room interiors stuck on them.
  3. Yes, I think it was on your thread I first saw them. Even being low relief I still had to reduce the depth of them by about 50% and couldn’t make full use of extra fittings like porches, in my limited space. They certainly give a good starting point though.
  4. First post for a while as much of the winter project was making new low-relief buildings for the back of the layout. In a further change I scrapped the couple of scratchbuilt attempts I had made. Instead the replacements are mostly modified ‘Petite Properties’ items, the exceptions being the scratch built factory at the left hand end and the ‘Skytrex’ factory at the right hand end.
  5. I purchased 9481 (35-026A) last week. No etched plates
  6. Yes, coach 3 is a foot shorter and also has an internal partition.

    New Hornby 14xx

Plus another £10 on the price I expect? 😐
  8. Having been unsure about buying one, I ended up buying two! Both seen following a bit of weathering, real coal etc. Black example renumbered as 78003.
  9. The trees/hedge alongside the station path has been completed.
  10. I realised that as originally constructed the bridge wing walls were too low, so these have been modified and raised, and some spear fencing and bushes added.
  11. Experimenting with sea foam to make a tall hedge along the access road.
  12. Starting to experiment with sea foam for trees and bushes
  13. My grown up elder daughter was visiting last week, and whilst I was out, had found some of her childhood models! 🙄
  14. Thanks, managed to download it onto my laptop, couldn't open it on my tablet.
  15. I couldn’t view it as I think you need to sign in to Dropbox which is not something I wish to do. However, from your text it doesn’t seem very good!
  16. Just tried to do a very quick check with the vernier and the smokebox diameter is pretty similar, Dapol may be slightly narrower but difficult for me to measure accurately. Not sure how much can be read from my photos at that angle, however I think it was established a while back that the Dapol boiler taper isn’t quite right. It was explored at length on the Dapol Manor thread.
  17. I didn’t try to remove it either. Just trickled some ‘Ballast Bond’ over the coal load and sprinkled the real coal over the top.
  18. Agree about the buffers being too heavily sprung, and I just glued the tender tank filler lid shut!
  19. Accurascale meets Dapol! The Accurascale model is as ‘out of the box’, the Dapol model to the right has been treated to a coat of ‘Klear’ and some light weathering.
  20. 7812 arrived today. Only time for a quick test on DC but very smooth running straight out of the box. The chimney on mine was also displaced slightly, easy to rectify, however doesn’t look like it was well fitted in the first place. Subsequently found the safety valve bonnet was also very loose and needed re-gluing! A quick picture outside the George Hotel at Penmaenpool
  21. Std 4 2-6-4T ‘80097’ sits outside the shed awaiting its next turn of duty.
