  1. Indeed? I guess it depends on where you reside then..makes sense I think. Could it be that populations are different to East Midlands?
  2. Exactly my problem...and again I see no way out but break curfew and visit the local supermarkets unfortuately.
  3. hmmm, well, having been out of the trade for a few years I cannot dispute that...I do remember some manufacturers made it tiresome to change a bulb..like some continental models.
  4. Haha, I dunno where youve been for the last two weeks, but online shopping broke down under massive over use couple of weeks ago, I wish you luck in your endevours though.
  5. To be honest most people check all their lights/indicators/brake bulbs before they take it to mot...it's one of the mot items a complete novice mechanic can fix for themselves. Also, garages re mot stations are on the list to stay open afaik.
  6. heh, This is where it starts. I'm sure tho if you keep your distance and don't get noticed to often you'll get away with it.
  7. agreed, this is why I mentioned the fact that along with the new regulations comes no way to enforce or police them...Around here abouts certain groups will see boris's new orders as nothing more then a new challenge to beat and get around. Italy and Spain are a few weeks ahead of the UK in lockdowns and to me, the best thing we could do is bring our country up to speed asap with their methods, otherwise I can see us catching up with their respective infection and death rates very fast. just my thoughts.
  8. Er, ok am I missing something here? Self Isolation...far as I recall means stopping in home and not going out...that possibly include hanging out with the nice folk down at the local shops? Roger
  9. I don't want to put on a damp blanket on things, but with the current climate of food deliverys, self isolation is going to be impossible for me unless my local supermarkets get things fixed pdq. I'm 66 and have chronic COPD, plus mild diabetus 2...I'm rather annoyed as vunerable as I am I still have to go out too shop for supplys, thats if there are any. But keeping my hopes up and trying not to imagine myself as being a drain circler..lol Actually, on thinking further on, I have no right to expect any special baby sitting really, just take my chances with the rest of you who have to carry on regardless! Stay well all. Roger
  10. Didn't the Gurka's have a thing that once drawn their kukri must draw blood before it can be returned to it's scabbard ?
  11. I just wish the guvmint would quit dithering and get on with the enforced isolation, bring in the troopers...It is obvious to me that a large proportion of the population have not a clue how to conduct them selves. Might as well bite the bullet and get it over with....a few troops at the supermarkets might also go a long way to slow down the chavs attempts to override the rules also. Stay happy and healthy all Roger
  12. "Thanks for registering Priority for our existing customers We're very sorry but due to the exceptionally high level of demand we are temporarily prioritising deliveries for our existing customers. As a result, we are unable to offer you a delivery slot at the moment. Unfortunately, new customer bookings will not be processed. We apologise for any disappointment. We are working hard to increase our delivery capacity and we will contact you as soon as the situation changes. Thank you for considering Ocado." ok, giving up looking for now...I still have 2 large boxes of bran flakes left so plenty to keep me happy.
  13. This is quite interesting, I followed a link posted earlier to some guvmint disaster guide and read this, thought I'd post it here and get your opinions on what it means..very mysterious as I am an "At risk" citizen. I'm very curious as to what they are going to tell me, or even are they actually going to contact each and every at risk person. "If you're at high risk The NHS will contact you from Monday 23 March 2020 if you are at particularly high risk of getting seriously ill with coronavirus. You'll be given specific advice about what to do. Do not contact your GP or healthcare team at this stage – wait to be contacted." ref link https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
  14. it's a shame I know but car parks are a convenience, I do not believe your rright to a parking spot is god given. Why did your SiL not park elsewhere and walk to his shopping?
  15. I've just checked Sainsbury and Morrisons online delivery websites to see if theres a chance of a slot but both systems appear to be broken, Sainsburys won't even let me log in despite me having an account before all this debacle and displaying this message. "Email address Due to the huge increase in online orders, we're pausing new registrations for the time being." And the Morrisons online page where you choose your day/time slot is displayed incorrectly and does not allow you to select/highlight a day or scroll through the day/months. So, for those two anyway, I'm stuffed..good job i'm only ordering for me and nobody is relying on me.
  16. One would hope and pray that the results would be shared globally....without the huge bill hopefully..
  17. Morrisons pick their home delivery items from central warehousing not shops, one would presume the same warehouses that supply the shops. And afaik picked at night shift.
  18. That is the kind of que i'm used to.
  19. I feel sorry for the supermarket staff. On my last visit to morrisons , standing in front of a stripped isle of ex loo rolls, I asked a young lady if the shelves actually did get restocked from yesterday, to my dismay the poor girl was almost in tears as she described the mornings events, I could tell she was both shocked and probably a tad scared, she reported that at opening time a large crowd of unruly people qued at the door and cars backed up all the way to the nearest roundabout...She went on to explain that when the doors opened they all rushed in shouting abuse at staff for being made to wait and litterally fighting each other over who gets what produce wise....I just stood there with my mouth open..The police were called but it was several hours before order wasrestored but not before the shop was again ransacked and most produce gone. I'm gobsmacked..I've never seen this kind of behavour before and wouldnt normally believe it possible in this country. Are we as a nation such horrid people in reallity?
  20. Thanks for that It led me to watch another old archived film. I was searching for the original Night Mail film but this one proved to be just as interesting for railway content.. Apoligies for straying away from thread content. Roger
  21. After reading some of your comments I get the feeling that not many posting in this thread have much in the way of experience in using super market delivery systems which are pretty new innovation and very much basic in design. I have been using them for a year or so due to health reasons and can be very usefull but deffinately have disadvantages too. I consider myself lucky because I reside in the catchment area of at least 8 large supermarket companys. As a result of that user/provider ratio the companies very basic systems have been able to bumble along quite happily on low usage loads. For some reason non of the systems are the same and each has their own way of dealing with things. Before the great debacle expected waiting times averaged out at 1 to 2 days wait for delivery...It has to be at least 1 day because your order is picked overnight, the night before your delivery day..hence, editing your order can only be carried out up to 5pm ish the day before delivery,so the pickers can "see" the new items. How things keep going out of stock, even when ordering online I have know clue, I do know that Morrisons orders are picked from some central ware house near the customers address and not the shop near them. Other companies may approach things differently. I know Morrisons are really struggling to find drivers and warehouse staff to increase out put and hence delivery slots. but if no further staff are found I cannot see any improvement in deliverys any time soon. Perhaps a page from other countrys books and start using the spare troops I know the guvmint are keeping back for more extreme emergencys? Anyway, cheer up! it'll all be over by christmas At least one of those stupid jerk jokes on ebay has been disabled already, maybe people are getting on the ball.
  22. Perhaps there wouldnt be so many folk breaking curfu if the supermarkets started to deal with the problems currently making it imposssibleto obtain food deliveries. Last night I tried all of the main supermarkets in the hope there might just be a slot free. Oh no, no chance, all of them were fully booked for at least 3 weeks ahead and have no slots. So this morning, despite being ill anyway, apart from being in the vunerable group I had to break cover and head out into town to try to do some sort of food shop. I did notice however, that Icelands from this morning ask you if your in that vunerable group. before offering a delivery slot...good going Icelands, wonder how they check up? and how long willit take to pass that on to all the other overloaded supermarket delivery systems?. ps, If I see yet another person pushing a supermarket trolley weighed down by stacks of toilet rolls am gonna get of my mobility scooter and punch their lights out...."joke" "ish".
  23. Not having checked for awhile, today I checked the delivery slots from morrison's online and discovered that the nearest slot was 6th-7th April, thank goodness I'm not in a hurry or starving.
