http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRI-ANG-RAILWAYS-R-355B-0-4-0T-INDUSTRIAL-LOCO-NELLIE-VN-MIB-/300661690777?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4600d55199#ht_823wt_907 It's amazing what you can save if you shop around!
  2. Just in case you weren't confused enough, I believe I'm right in saying that both WD150 and HE3888 have carried the same 'BR' identity - '68006' - whilst at Peak Rail!
  3. You've made it as a modeller when you've built everything you've ever wanted to do, to the best quality you could possibly perceive, and have therefore 'completed' the hobby, ready to start a new one... Until then, shall we all keep practicing? Personally I'm happy to look at any of my collection and think "Yes, I've made alterations to the RTR model and changed it for the better". I think it's for this reason that my pet peeve (at the risk of going on to another topic!) is rakes of RTR stock at exhibitions. In some cases it might not take much doing, but my perception of being a decent modeller - I suppose roughly equivalent to having 'made it' - is to be competent and confident enough to change a model for the better.

Oh quite, in fact I even considered bidding for it as a siding filler, the inclusion of the instructions just made me laugh!

People *collect* them? I thought they were ten a penny (both in quantity and value!)

  8. Well, I'm actually quite tempted to model the period now! Whether to go for a station or a depot is another matter, and how I'm going to afford a fleet of black 5s another still!
  9. Must be an excellent choice if it's managed to become a cliche!
  10. Had a game of cliche bingo at the last show we visited, last to spot them got a round in! Off the top of my head it included: GWR branch terminus; O gauge 'layout' on a 6'x2' baseboard; beautifully detailed loco hauling out of the box stock; rakes of coaches with the same numbers; etc.
  11. Already painted - if I ever get round to building and exhibiting my 80s pres layout, it will appear!
  12. Alternatively, go the other way - I can't wait to exhibit my new layout: Clapham Junction circa 1584!
  13. Funny, just the other day I was musing upon doing 'Sodor in the late 60s' - Several Daisies, Thomas's branch facing closure, Duck sold into industry and heavily weathered (dirt, brake dust, a beard ) etc... One day!

http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_4805wt_1348 I'm sorry, somebody paid HOW MUCH for a Bachmann N?! The normal eBay value for a decent one being £45-£55... Something I'm missing? There's also http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-Standard-Class-4MT-steam-loco-BR-Black-No-80088-/230745551067?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BUA%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D260955778571%252B260955778571%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6400333905903404909#ht_500wt_1363 , though actually I love monstrosities such as this - as I have a project in mind which will require a repaint anyway, it's one to watch!
