  1. Can't find anything in Peto's,but just found the livery data sheet for the 48xx/58xx,which states" tank sides and ends, GREEN ,tank tops BLACK,as is all associated tank top equipment" so my best guess is anything forward or above the tank tops would be green.(Assuming a green liveried loco).

I can't find any prototype pics of where the top feed pipe black ends and the green begins. (But presumably where you have got it, just about at the front of the tanktop.)

Perhaps a look in Peto's Register ( the 4800 and 5800 tanks) may help? I'll have a look myself later and see if there are any hints.

With regard to chain link fencing I have looked at both the KS Laser Design and the Buzz Models versions on their websites. The latter appear to be slightly better detailed but may not be available at the moment. I have also been looking at the possibility of scratch-building some if I can find a source for suitably sized mesh.

I seem to mind that Eileen's Emporium had some wire mesh about the right size at a reasonable price.

Searching through my archives I came across this B&W photo possibly taken in the appalling winter of 1963 at Blackney. I decided to make a Christmas card from it. Seasonal wishes to you all.

Just in case people were worried and I'd left the dark side and returned to OO modelling I thought it is time for an update! :)

Over the last couple of months or so I've done a lot of maintenance work on the track and the DCC feeds to improve running, and also put some extra batons under the middle of the baseboards. The station side work is complete and I've still some work to do on the depot side.

I have been doing a lot of work on the station platforms, I finally got round to building the other platform. I have used AK Interactive Asphalt and Concrete Terrain Acrylics for the platforms, edged with the white acrylic pen. I shortened the original platform to the same length at the new one and then applied the AK Interactive acrylics as on the new platform.

It is still a work in progress but the bulk of the work is done and shortly I will hopefully be able to ballast the station track and then I can start work on the goods yard.

Here are some photos of the work so far.

    There is still

    A lot to do?

    Looking good.

  6. Ah ,well, in the good old days locos were just moved about as required, usually stuck into a goods train, or maybe towed by a light engine(with a caretaker crew , of course)Nowadays a charge has to be made(as the railways must turn a profit)to shift things about, and "Hey Presto! " the road haulage industry can undercut the prices again. Mind you ,as they  have to use a specialised haulier it will still cost a fair old wad of money to  do the job. I suspect the above picture truck and trailer would cost at least the thick end of £250k .The last new truck I drove was £85k about 12 years ago and that was without a body or a Hiab crane mounted< and was only a 6 wheeler.
