  1. Update on Singapore. Safety valves moved and dome holes filled in. Another coat of paint and a 0-4-0 chassis. Then off to get nameplates and some work plates. A bit rough and ready but I don’t think it’s bad for my first attempt....
  2. What an interesting looking engine, which company owned it and what industry did it work in?
  3. Practically everything on my layout is secondhand or hand built. the track is so knackered it gives a realistic industrial ‘roller coaster’ ride. Most of my new stuff comes from Birthdays and Christmas money. second hand is also the way I buy as it’s cheap but only requires a little service before it’s a good runner (damn, I’m late to the second hand topic, my mistake)
  4. My grandad had a Victorian GWR train of 3 Hornby 4 wheelers and 2 ratio coaches all hauled by Lord of the Isles. the coaches are really good (in my opinion) for early suburban/Victorian trains on a budget.
  5. I’ll have a look in my railway shop when time allows, if all goes well I should have some sort of progress started soon!
  6. I’m planning on turning a pug into a Hawthorn Leslie (3865 ‘Singapore’ specifically) the boiler may be a bit long but I just need to add a cab back plate, move the safety valves and whistle. could anyone give any advice on extending the saddle tank? plastikard perhaps?
  7. Would this image help if you’re still working on the tipplers?, found it in a book of mine “Past and Present - Leicestershire”. The Picture is taken at Syston North Junction in 1960.
  8. I think black lining edged white will look smart but it may look a bit like a Stewart and Lloyds Minerals Ltd livery (iron ore mining)?
  9. Looking forward to how this progresses as I’ve only seen the preservation Rothley, it’ll be nice to see it in it's original form
