  1. Very slightly off topic, ive acquired a WD 2-8-0 (cant find a 2-10-0 anywhere) i'm keeping the number but changing the name, do i want 2mm / 3mm or 4mm nameplates - measurements mean nothing, this is my return to model railways after a 30 year gap, i never changed anything before (not properly) im older and wiser and just need a leg up, as im planning on changing a few identities, but this is the most important one...... its going to honour a friend (well known to most in railway circles) if all goes well then i shall reveal the name once its done.
  2. What if BR built a Standard Version, or maybe if Stanier built one
  3. Thanks Guys i just got a Bachman 2mt & a 4mt plus a Hornby 2mt The Hornby 2mt is for conversion i wont say what to yet as it seems likely i will have the only one, once its displayed others may decide to copy it and thats fine, i just want the first one, i already had a Hornby 2mt (46400) and last year got another (46521) the idea behind another 46521 is a friend of mine is willing to convert that into a standard 2mt as 78034 (rumour has it the new one will be £180) Stock is very much a mixture, i have some wagons dating from late 50's early 60's some other wagons date from around 1969, coaches i have Pullmans dating from the 70's, a set of LMS coaches from the 80's and a set of LMS Suburban coaches dating from the 90's, Locos i have 3 Triang 0-4-0T from around 1969, a 101 DMU from the 60's, then the rest of my stuff varies through 70's - 90's, i have picked up a considerable amount last year (pre-owned) TBH im not sure if they are 80's 90's or 00's ALL track is brand new still boxed purchased last November, at present the line is not built, this is something that is a work in hand, the boards are stored having been taked down after i lost interest due to break in back in 1991 / 1992, but they have been stored well in temperature controlled conditions (in the house) all being well building should start at the end of March... it was another modeller that said there are flange issues with things, Peco is a make i had endless trouble with before and converted all track to Hornby, i had a Wrenn Class 20, but this i no end of trouble with, when it wanted to work, it was full power or nothing, and if it stayed on through points once there was no guarantee it would next time, and so it was sacrifcied in December and SOLD as i had no use for it, its put me off Wrenn for life everything is a mixture of Kitmaster, Airfix, Mainline, Lima, Dapol. Triang/Hornby, Triang, Hornby & Bachman - this is the current situation here at Holby City Railway, with around 60 locos in the fleet........ Thanks to all of you for helpful advice, im truly looking forward to getting back into it now in my late 50's
  4. im using Hornby track and in told there a gauge issues with Bachman locos running on Hornby track ?
  5. Does anybody currently have a Hornby Ivatt 2-6-0 for sale please, suddenly the market has virtually dried up and those that are available are silly money, must be a runner please, and reasonable price, i ran out of money before Christmas so couldnt get one then, please help if you can holbycityrailway@gmail.com
  6. end of an era, went down there by bus not long after i couldnt stand it, the box always stood out at the end of slater road, the dairy is now a housing estate, and my dads house has been rebuilt, i cant go down there anymore, it hurts, i spent 20 years down there as a child - its not the place i grew up in anymore
  7. just getting back into model railways after around 30 years, luckily most of my stuff survived being stored, that which has not is slowly being replaced, 48 locos looking good, 2 x 3 car DMU (101 & 126) also looking good, must get new coaches, although i have 5 LMS suburban coached and 3 LMS cars, my Pullmans are not so lucky, im actually looking for somebody that might want to get involved and join me, with help, it could be up and running before Christmas, as a solo project its looking like February / March 2021, anybody interested ? it will be U shaped shelf layout 12 - 14 " wide giving around 20ft of running (end to end) with passing loop in the middle, modelling preservation era, (don't start its my choice), ideally i need somebody that can do electrics, i have no interest in scenery other than stations, signal boxes etc, so somebody with a scenic eye would be useful, im more interested in locos and rolling stock, and obviously track laying to my design (subject to space) and running of course, ive got some very simple but achievable ideas, its DC ONLY (ANALOG), anybody wanna join me, call it a 2 or 3 man MRC, no membership to pay or committee to please........ (WEST MIDLANDS)
  8. as somebody that needs 3 boxes on my line, im wondering where / how can i get Barmouth Box, im also wondering if anybody could build Bentley Heath Box for me, my late Father worked there, and im lucky to have several photos of it
  9. well, my position is that i cant do it i dont have the patience etc, thank you to those who understand, there are those out there that prefer to just build things for people, i wish i knew a couple of them, my uncle was well respected in model railway circles for building locos, there are many prairies and auto tanks out there that he built before he died, i used to watch him building white metal kits, sadly he is long gone now
  10. maybe a bit of both i dont have the patients or the skill
  11. not equipped for building white metal, not got the ability to build kits, cant solder, never leaarned
  12. fantastic, thank you ive found 2 in my price bracket, 1 in Germany but one is actually in the UK so im going for that one, she isnt intended to run much, probably 6 times a year, probably out of gauge anyway, thanks
  13. i stand corrected, H0 will be as good i think, she isnt intended to run much, probably 3 or 4 times a year, probably out of gauge anyway, thanks
  14. im seeking a OO Gauge Class BR 64 297 2-6-2T of the DB i cant seem able to find one, somebody advised me they can go for silly money around £250 im not willing to pay anything like that, but somebody must have an unwanted one, or know where there is one, maybe somebody is changing what they model and is willing to part one of these splendid little tanks, can anybody help at all please ? - must be 00 gauge, loco number doesnt matter, please help if you can
  15. Once Upon A Time, i had Waterslide Transfers for BR STEAM, / LMS / GWR & BR Diesel mainly Triple Grey Railfreight Sectors, Having been out of Model Railways for somewhere around 30 years, these are no longer anywhere to be found, and try as i might, i am having such difficulty finding new ones, can anybody point me in the right direction please, im mostly in need of BR STEAM i need both early and later emblems and numbers suitable for renumbering 9Fs, & 2MTs, as i have 2 9Fs both need a change of identity, and 3 x 2MT of which one is to be spoofed as 60.116 (7% solution) PLEASE HELP ALSO i have 4 "Traing" 0-4-0T polly tanks, one in original red, the others have all been painted but i would like to try and return them to original liveries does anybody know where i can get suitable lining in WHITE and in RED please, or how to remove the HUMBROL paint from the plastic body
  16. if possible im looking to purchase the body for 60 006 Great Gable (also known as Scunthorpe Ironmaster in Corus Livery)
  17. really need an RTR or somebody to build one for me, there would be no way of me building it
  18. does anybody do one of these in 4mm / 00 please, im wanting to replicate No.17 The Highflyer which lived at the SVR for years until she was cut up for scrap
  19. probably in the wrong place, if i am i apologise, but I have a Lima Class 60 purchased around 1990, she had an accident before being stored some years ago, now, the question is, with Lima gone, will a Hornby body fit the Lima Chassis ? as replacement Lima bodies are silly money from what ive seen. Also if possible im looking to purchase the body for 60 006 Great Gable (also known as Scunthorpe Ironmaster in Corus Livery), shes the only 60 i have and it would be a shame to assign her to scrap just for a badly damaged body
  20. Hornby Railways R2390 GWR Kings Class Locomotive 6028 King Henry II and Hornby R1048 7028 Cadbury Castle
  21. Front Coupling is required as i model Preservation Era, and therefore my line is end to end with Run Rounds, no space for a turntable so all locos need all couplings
