  1. Fellow member asked me to create an STL for a Sharp Stewart 4'6" 14 soke 12" throw PB. Drawn to fit one of our 4' 6" Society Tyres. Here is the link to the STL in case anyone in the future also wants similar. https://drive.google.com/file/d/14nfTeNWd_wQQC4zRTY3tYxpvV2TbvSpW/view?usp=sharing
  2. Third of the Manning Wardle Old I Series - Number 17 Blanche
  3. Here is Number15 Little Usk. The second of three Manning Wardle Old Class I Locomotives owned by the B&M.
  4. Hi, I cant compare as I do not have any Code 100 rail and even if I did it would be difficult to see in a photo given the relative size. There are lots of possitive reasons to join the society, it has a unique place in our hobby. Here are some photos of the rail I bought a couple of years back through the society store.
  5. Have this small chassis on the workbench - hopefully will fit a motor and gearbox over the next few days....
  6. The model will be part etch and part 3D print. Etch artwork completed and set off to PPD to work their magic. We had a discussion at the last Zoom call on artwork prep for 3D etching. I simply draw my etches in Visio, save as a PDF and then send for an etch. The attached picture is what I send. PPD kindly sort out the colour separation.
  7. Next up for my collection of Brecon and Merthyr engines will be a 0-6-0 outside frame saddle tank. The B&M had a number of these engines either built directly or acquired. The majority of the engines were built by both Fowler and Stephenson to a broadly common design.
  8. For me the trick to learning Fusion is to not get too bogged down in the theory. All the tutorials I looked at get caught up in constraints and the difference between bodies and components. Both of these topics are important but they are not essential to making a basic model. I was probably one year into Fusion before I really started to focus on constraints. Just start by drawing and extruding. Dimensions are important but these are easy. Stick with bodies and by the time your bodies become too complex you will understand why components can help. Now I constrain everything and do use components to structure my models.....but I got to these gradually - I want to make models not be a Fusion expert and I found that keeping this front of mind helped me to learn Fusion.
  9. Fusion is perfect for these types of boiler fittings,,,,
  10. Steven presented these models on our Society Zoom call. Some superb model making here. Really wonderful models.
  11. Thanks Rob..... Still not happy with the engine performance. Decided that the gearbox was not helping. So having a go at printing one......
  12. Rob - I spilt water washable resin all over my screen. I looked online for inspiration, took a piece of cloth, immersed it in very hot water, placed it on top of the resin damaged screen, let the resin soften and then scratched it off with a plastic ruler....it came up a treat.....
  13. Next up is the 3D print to make the following body..... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oR9o6LqZEsAbo-5d95jnUze9XSjCwytP/view?usp=sharing I have had to make some deliberate compromises on this print to ensure that the footplate and boiler have the necessary strength.
  14. First up is the Tank. This is saved in full size protype inches. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nHvdE4P6kT8dVsdh0n1CBImFo3QTcCTB/view?usp=sharing
  15. So focus now is on the printed top with etched chassis. I will post the prints in the next few sections.....
  16. That said I did make one half way decent engine that I will keep ......
  17. After weeks of messing around I have given up on trying to make a repeatable 3D printed chassis. By repeatable I mean something that I can just print, add wheels motor and pickups and send down the track. With such a shart wheel base, small throw and very little weight the distortion of warping and shrinkage is too great. Maybe I will come back to it in the future........this is a tiny sample of the number of attempts I took at this. All conveniently sitting on top of the dustbin :-(
  18. Thanks Rob - I have been holding off on updating the prints as I have been going through a pretty extensive tidy up of the artwork. The bunker has now been corrected together with a number of other errors in the body. I have also just noticed that the front headstock is very slightly out of alignment so that will be fixed. I will then upload.
  19. Ok thank you - I use RM Web as a diary of my activities but also to try and promote a bit of interest in S Scale so this is good news - thank you.
  20. Hi - I post alot of content on RMWeb but very little of it appears to be discoverable in Google. Is this a deliberate strategy of RMWeb to limit google indexing or am i doing something wrong in how I post? Grateful for any help.
  21. I received the revised etch today.....few more components to add but this contains the body parts to enhance the 3D prints plus two chassis versions....one for split axle and one for pickups.....I hope to have these at our autumn meetinsg,,,,,once again made to my skills/standards that may not be as high as others so there is the usual health warning.
  22. I have been reliably informed that this is the correct rivet detail for the saddle.....I will replace the STL for downloading later in the week.
