  1. Do you ever come across 66773 in your travels? Just curious to know where it's working.
  2. Evening! Just stopped raining deluging here; see what the evening brings as there is an unusual working scheduled later through the local station. I served my apprenticeship in the late 70s, early 80s and ISTR, in the fabrication shop, a vat (approx. 10' x 6' by several feet deep) of warmed trichloroethylene for degreasing pipework, panels, etc. in an annexe of the main shop!
  3. Morning Awl, Wet with a vengeance here; just waiting for a lull to get out to the car! Did it fall or was it pushed? There is an argument which follows Darwinian principles of survival of the fittest!
  4. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) - ABBA
  5. Good evening! Another day of tearing hair out (those of you who know me will know that I don't have much anyway and what there is be too short to make a decent grip!). As for GP surgeries, mine has a resident Countess D and a pharmacy, handily located by the exit; no analysis facilities though. If you plan to arrive by car, they record the registration and call you in as required. Organised, IMHO. How they will conduct a rheumatology check up by 'phone next week will be interesting. How long this excellence will remain is questionable with at least 10 residential developments starting within 2 miles. Clearly, Gstaad will feature very low in the destination plans! However, as iD points out: there may be a slight thorn lurking!
  6. Good Evening, In today's news: Perhaps they have an app on their phone which is showing the image from the camera? I did see someone walking along the pavement reading a newspaper! My tactic is to generally walk directly towards them! As I understand it, pineapple is full of enzymes which is one reason it is traditionally served with gammon as one of them aids digestion thereof. I also recall reports that pineapple 'preparers' have been known to have no fingerprints as the enzymes destroy them! Hopefully, ne'er the twain shall meet
  7. Ah! Another nod to the passing of Common Sense. An invention of (I believe) one chain of 'super'markets (did somebody say Just Sneeze?) to ensure stock rotation. Thought: water is the oldest recyclable resource on the planet; why does it carry a use-by date? Also, why is the use-by date on a 5 year matured cheese next Thursday?
  8. Good evening! Sounds an interesting idea; is there a list anywhere? I'm fed up with splashing out on ginger and turmeric supplements and generic chlorphenamine (piriton [others are surely available] - you're paying for the brand as well!) and would welcome any alternatives!
  9. It contains a capacitor which KILLS the DCC signal. BTW, I hope your voltage measurements are on your meter's AC scale?
  10. You said the old style Hornby connector? The R602? GET THAT AWAY FROM ANY DCC SYSTEM!
  11. Never forget that the fuse is there to protect the cable, not the equipment hanging off of it! It's easier to replace a fuse than it is to replace the cabling when it decides to take on the role of a fuse!
  12. But if there are no walls (presumably, with door), how does the roof remain as a roof rather than a floor? I guess 'top down' planning could fail here!
  13. May I refer you to this obituary: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/229-early-risers/&do=findComment&comment=3971665
  14. Your own saliva should contain enzymes which will break down your blood. How you apply it is your call!
  15. Well, I say Schtine but iL Dottore of this parish prefers 'Stone'!
  16. Two countries separated by a common language. For me, it's zedd zedd top. Rule Britannia!
  17. No, not The Who (Roger Daltry indulges in a little railway muddling from time to time, I understand) This bunch of blokes is ZeDD ZeDD Top!
  18. Perhaps they just want a feather in their cap? Shows how much it was needed, though!
  19. The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy) - Simon & Garfunkel
  20. CV29 controls several modes of operation so it is impossible to say that it should be a specific value. As an example, if you are using long addresses on locos, it has to be at least 32! Forcing it to, say, 14 will turn long addressing off! (Use 46 instead!) As an aside, and slightly , as RailCom is written into CV29 and is part of the NMRA 'standard', does not having supporting RailCom make a decoder or controller non-NMRA compliant?
  21. Music to watch Girls by - Andy Williams
  22. Junction 15 with the M4 does not look happy on Google's traffic map!
  23. Good morning on my last Monday of annual leave! (Back to the grindstone next Monday!) As many have said, the commercially available sphygmomanometers compare well (and are often from the same manufacturer) to those used by your surgery. As for the need for a skilled operator, not necessary! Fasten the cuff between shoulder and elbow, tube to machine to the inside of the elbow and press the button. When it stops, reach for pencil and paper and record the Systolic and Diastolic pressures and the pulse. Job done. Using, as you put it, "the services of a skilled operator" opens you to the dreaded "White Coat" Syndrome which usually results in a high reading!
