  1. Made by Hornby was it? Dsve Dave, you not being able to spell your own name tells me that you have had too much sun, better come quick, I'll take your place on the sun-lounger doing whatever work needs doing
  2. I'm back just about, using the on screen keyboard, so typing even slower than usual! Why? Last night I washed my pc keyboard with a mug of Cappuccino (complete with froth and brown sugar on top)! Going back to Apprentices and the above, many years ago I used to work near the benches where they repaired PCs used aboard RN Ships. First task was to strip them down and clean out the remains of someones Veg Soup or was it where someone had been calling Dewey & Louie's mate, The worst ones were saved for the Apprentices.
  3. Seen in the yard of a local Care Home ...
  4. Did you go back to pictures from a safe distance?
  5. I once had a 2.8i Capri. You could lever the barrel out of the tailgate lock with a knife blade then put a finger in the hole and flick a lever across to unlock. I was shown how to do it by a policeman after leaving the key in the ignition and locking myself out (I did have to prove to him that is really was my car first though. I think the clincher was my wife and two small children glaring daggers at me because they couldn't get in the car either). Dave I had a Hillman Super Minx with the key ignition switch in the dashboard, as the lock/ key was so worn that it otherwise fall out I had to start the car then put the key in the ash tray for safe keeping, that or scrabble around looking for it under the pedals. A friend had a Lotus Ford Cortina, he was not amused to come back to his car to find me and a girlfriend sat in it sheltering from the rain. I could open and start it with my Krooklock Key! Cars from my past, VW Fastback Variant Type3, VW Beetle (6 Volt), Humber Sceptre, Holbay/ Sunbeam Rapier (pair of twin-Webber Carb's), Hillman Avenger, company car Metro (bonnet wide flew open going past a number of school kids the day after it had been 'fixed' by a BL dealer mechanic using a Lump Hammer!)
  6. If it was as noisey as the one that I have used on the towpath verges alongside the Wilts & Berks Canal, don't worry, there won't a small mammal within miles! Yes a handful to steer
  7. There aren't a lot even if you include dead or fictional OK, what do I know about Belgians, more than I did earlier
  8. Sorry Andy but I thought leeks were straight. Are you now telling me that they have a dip in the middle. When did this happen and why wasn't I told. I'll fetch my plumbing tools
  9. Currently watching The Night Mail, seen it before but ...
  10. Several charities advertise a Will Writing Service done by Lawyers, presumably in the hope that the charity will get a percentage. Like everyone else is saying we (SWMBO & myself) must do something about writing a proper Will. I know at first hand the problems of not leaving a will, my Mother left a non-witnessed Will. I couldn't even prove that it was her writing, so literally not worth the paper it was written on!
  11. If you put Inverted Commas around your search word(s) it then searches for 'exact words', takes out some the rubbish.
  12. And I go with "I plan to get an RD250" My old RD250!
  13. Hi Fred, This looks an interesting book, it might help me identify some of my collection, please how/ where can I get a copy? Some of mt Tootsietoy/ Londontoy etc are nearer TT scale than N. Tootsietoy Broadway & PullmanUnknown maker?
  14. I can see a problem here, unless you take a compass with you (or you are near a window so that you can see the Sun), when you take the layout to a show, the North End may be to the South,
  15. OK, I'll start off with the missing Headlight Masks ...
  16. Leave it as part of the scenery. Figure out a reason why later. Perhaps the grass caught fire a while back, new growth coming through?
  17. You're not a proper OCD sufferer until you have CDO. It's the same thing, but the letters are in alphabetical order, which is the way they MUST be. HA HA becomes AH AH
  18. I'm way down on the modelling standards compared to most (all?) here but I know what looks good (even very, very good) but to keep it working as your friend wants, could you fit an alternate set of S7 wheels? That way keep the provenance/ history of the model but allow the loco to stretch it's legs every so often.
  19. Bill, I thought that you wanted less porn? Thankyou we now need the Brain Bleach after imagining Richard in mackintosh and rubber boots, kissing sheep. Brian
  20. If Panniers are 'porn', then what would constitute/ qualify as 'video nasties'? Had a friend who was the drummer in a Heavy Metal Rock Covers Band (ie their versions of the likes of AC/DC playing in local pubs & clubs), their band name was Black Nasty, not a phrase that those of a nervous disposition should try Googling! He was one to defy stereotyping, a serving Royal Signals Staff Sergeant, Mayor of a local town as well being a Hard/ Heavy Rock Drummer.
