Unless the specific loco is available (either RTR or easily renumbered), then support coaches are a moot point.

And it's unlikely that one manufacturer will create a support coach for another manufacturers loco.

Of the 5 you mention above, only 1 of them is in the Bachmann stable.

TBH - the most commonly used WCRC support coach of the Carnforth based locos is 80217 - it isn't too difficult to convert a BSK.

Many of the WCRC coaches also have mods that mark them out as different from "regular" Mk1s - such as sealed up middle doors and footboards removed to match. Some of the Mk1 FKs are now FOs.....

And not forgetting the removal of end steps.

Well of those locos I'm only short of the jubilee, mainly because Bachmann haven't bothered to do the modern ones!

I have a renumbered 35018, a standard release 48151 and another renumbered 46115, along with a standard 6201 Hornby release.  And yes 80217 is often used but I know the others are used lots depending on the reliability of the loco...

    Nice photo.

Im not sure yet, will depend what I can pick up at a reasonable price. The Bachmann 2F stock is very nice but the Hornby ones are very good value.

    Thanks

    Mark

Thank you! I have a whole load of photos of the lakelander that aren't on flickr if your after reference photos?

I'm looking at buying a load of the DCC Virgin coaches up for repaints and for the use of them as charter stock.

They could do a Hornby NMT HST and leave the top light off for 10 years and at least 2 releases............................

Don't be silly this is Dapol not some amateur off the street! :banghead:

And the thing is these coaches get about too so it's not like there shouldn't be a market. Pretty much any modern layout wanting a steam loco on the front (or one of the many suitable diesels) could legitimately have a rake of them.

Indeed they do and whatever WCRC engine is on it (48151, 35018, 45699, 46115, 6201) they use a pool of support coaches. Also if you look at the Mk2F coach releases you will find an example of each type of coach you would need for a rake.

    Seems like an oversight...

  5. I currently have 002, 023, 032 & 034. However I'm tempted by 68016 as it was an earlier delivery date (2015, although not part of the first two? deliveries of 68's) and would match up better with 002 than 034. But like a few on here I'm not sure how many people are thinking like I am. I also need to look if I need 5 68's. I would argue with two TPE sets on order then yes I would. As then it gives me a good mix, to run 023, 032 & 034 on the TPE duties and 002, 016 & 034 on freight duties.

Unless you missed out on the TPE locos originally then I'm not sure how popular these ones will be, unless people want the whole fleet of TPE 68's! It's nice to see some more blue ones being done. I think the Chiltern ones would have been more popular had the rolling stock been done for them to haul, as you can still find them brand new I believe.

TBH nobody will sell anything until they make them. That's the frustration at the moment. We have WCRC 37s, 33s, black 5s that will work with these but they seem to be in limbo.

Let's hope there's an update next month.

I did find it very interesting that Bachmann even with the coaches they announced they were doing had lots of holes in them, doing a range of mk1 BSK, SO and RMB then a Mk2A SO. No first class coaches, no Support coaches which would have been a real treat and then no such full kitchen vehicle meaning that anyone's rake of WCRC coaches is still very limited :scratchhead:

Don't get me wrong I'm glad they are doing them, but why not go for it and have a better selection. I'm obviously not asking them to make a full rake and have all different running numbers and names because if you want that you just buy multiples of the one and do the renumbering yourself. But just seems daft when in theory they will have the tooling as part of other coaches they do but not as one complete unit.

  7. If you need a reference to go by, here's a link to a photograph of mine of a 57.

    Stuck to it - IMG_2945

You should be able to get a dremmel in or a pair of fine snips in to do it. As you can see it doesn't really need to be a fine cut as it's not in real life. I'd just go carefully and that's all you can do in modelling!

@MRDBLUE17 are you waiting for Bachmann to release the Virgin Mk2F to do the conversion's from?

DB use them fitted with flat containers on steel traffic from Scunthorpe to eastern France through the channel tunnel as well as the Jaguar aluminium trains.

They're also used by GBRf on some of their intermodal services.

Does anyone do a kit for the bits that carry the steel? Would be interesting to model that!

    Thanks for the information guys!

  9. Hi all,

I've had a rake of the standard Bachmann modern image container wagons for a while, before Hattons FEA's or Dapol's intermodal wagons came out. Now my question is where and when did these wagons actually operate, as I'm considering selling them if they don't fit in with my era of around 2010-2018. Any help is much appreciated! I've attempted to search through my own images but unfortunately I concentrated on the locos :help:

    Cheers all!

I would certainly complain if my beans had gone up in price and I had to wait 3 years for them

I think the beans might be out of date by then too! Just like the fact the tooling might be a bit old fashioned on the 150 compared to the the 158?

A Hornby executive HST finished at £572 on ebay tonight. What an absolute joke.

Why oh why will Hornby not release more Executive and Swallow liveried HSTs, that is what people want, not obscure liveries carried by one or two power cars for a few weeks. Please please Hornby, lets see some intercity liveried HSTs with sound to stop people selling their models for ridiculous money........

You'll find that EMT power cars fetch a similar price tag, why a rerun of these haven't been done I'm not sure. But there is more than just one period that has demand for reruns. Hornby haven't managed demand very well. However as a manufacturer you would always want to leave your customer wanting more so you don't end up with dead stock.

Still waiting...... I guess they're too busy running around fitting a top headlight to a HST power car

    11 weeks now.

Your awaiting there stock response, "The colour is correct and we are sorry that you feel that it is not correct"

On a side note has anyone had anyone dodgy circuit board in there GBRF 50? Now I've fitted a sound decoder in my pair one of them doesn't want to function correctly. I'm having lighting issues :blackeye:

    Hi XChris,

If you don't feel like receiving our email newsletter updates you can follow our projects on here, our Facebook page or on Twitter.  The latter two are linked to our website so whenever we publish a news item (which is whenever we have something useful to say!) you'll get a notification.

We should have news on Caroline in 00 in the next 4 weeks.

    cheers

    Ben A.

    Hi Ben,

I've dropped you a message regarding the newsletter, I'd actually quite like to receive it. As I have my eye on a few of your projects

Both are showing 'in tooling' on the projects page.

That's good evidence that they are being produced.

Mike and Ben have explained many times, there are only updates when the status changes, or is about to change, as in early bird dates for example

Apologies wasn't meant to cause any offence!

I know these things take time, and I'm happier to wait longer for better results. This would be my first purchase from revolution as I've missed there earlier results due to being out of the hobby (See the amount of post's on my profile), so wasn't sure how they operate (not subscribed to the newsletter, not sure on the website).

Awesome, looks like I might be tempted to get another 37/4 or possibly a 37/6 if their going to be delayed until Q3 :D.  I know that your looking for suggestions regarding a future run, so can I put forward these 37/0’s operated by Colas.

    37116

    37175

    37219 “Jonty Jarvis”

    37254 “Cardiff Canton”

I hope these are of interest to you.

I think the one I really want to see is 37057, in its BR Green livery as Colas had it on test trains with its headcode boxes.

Is there an ETA? I’ve paid for a sound fitted ROG Europhoenix one and am eying up a DRS one of some flavour and seeing if I have enough time to pay for it!

As an aside which of the DRS ones are running on the current railway in the depicted livery?

AFAIK the 37/4's are all spot on up to date. The 37/6's that are current are 37602 (2017 it appears on flickr so now probably stored currently) 37606 (according to flickr is still active) 37609 (appears to be around until 2017 on flickr as well so possibly stored currently).

92036, has been in the exact livery A/S have done it in for about 12 years. The EWS sticker was applied and the BR Arrows are still in place to this day. I'm not sure if your trying to say A/S have got the livery wrong or not but I think it's spot on. If this information helps mean you have chosen the right loco then I'm also glad I could help.

    There’s a link to a photo taken a week ago here;

    92036

I believe most of the EWS/DB ones still have the arrows. Unless they are in Red/Stobart. Which is when they lost the arrows.

Which actually makes me think I am surprised that there isn’t a 92017 in Stobart livery released as a limited edition or a Rails version etc.
