  1. I'm yet to see even a Hornby new tool wagon that has not got issues with having something as simple as free unbinding wheels.. it doesn't exactly give faith when it comes to a locomotive.. however I'm clueless as to if this has anything to do with the factory. Could it not be simply that the CAD supplied to a certain cost enforces the elimination of certain luxuries such as metal axle etc.. I suspect Hornby have to achieve higher margins in profit than a smaller or new company even if built in the same factory.
  2. A one wagon pick up freight leaves Tunstead Moor.. You can feel Beeching's breath on the line....
  3. Ah my mistake.. the pics I had downloaded to use for the weathering must be older.. thanks 👍
  4. I was actually referring to the fact it should have the roundel in gold .. just wondered if anyone did this as a transfer.
  5. Somebody help me and stop 🛑 me.. I'm tempted by the pair of Belmond Scotsman class 66 Hornby have just put out.. mainly as a very light weathering project and a tsx trial. I have a few questions though as I look at them.. where would I get the correct gb railfreight transfers from and would Hornbys incorrect version be hard to take off.. Also has anyone ever put out a kit to alter the light clusters as these are also obviously wrong and is there a further detail pack for the buffer beam. Not a criticism of Hornby as I get they produce these on masse to keep the price down yet produce lots of paint jobs. Other than that this actually looks one of the better applied efforts.
  6. A Dremel may come in handy to open up a bit more space or a little rewiring and moving the connector. These are not as small as a small 6 pin and every mm counts in these models. Is there a reason by the way Hornby have chosen not to do a 6 pin sound version.
  7. looking nice.. I like the gentle sweeps you have got into the track despite the small space..
  8. Ok so looking at that photo above I posted on Thursday my eyes just bleed 🤣 when I see that spanking shiny guards van. So it's been airbrush and powders day today. The aim really is a simple quick technique to get it to match factory done 7 plankers. Vallejo dirt on the body and black on the roof. Took 10mins.
  9. Taken from the volunteers reward special. Sorry it's a bit dark, but... It was dark🥴
  10. Returning the coal empties that were left in the headshunt back to Tunstead in time for collection.
  11. Hopefully it could be quicker as the apple is a little delayed I believe due to being Initially rejected as it's description mentioned the words pre release
  12. Well DPD just arrived with three huge boxes..One with one 15v lead in it the other with 8 pin TSX decoders and the other with a 21 pin.. At least the cats going to have fun with all the boxes and paper but its odd; I even got postage refunded on the 15v adapter cable after a phone call yet its still arrived in a huge box on its own.
  13. I'm guessing from the video. Can't quite remember.. that we can arrange the apps buttons anyway we want, besides the default?
  14. RAF, what's the R number on this please as I can't seem to find it in the online store.
  15. The 15v adapter has other uses as well in the general range so I doubt Hornby will see it as " connected just to 7000 so let's hold it back until a launch"
  16. Normal club is the same (200) or 2£ for joining. Then 15%.
  17. As I said the vids gone but someone on the Hornby forums has a pic on there layout.. look on the what's your latest acquisition thread.
  18. You may be right. The poster on the collectors club forums has removed the post with the vid. Though there is one saying someone has received it by DPD.
  19. Think a few people have received them already.. in fact there's a cpl on u tube
  20. The only other thing that caught my eye was the pricing on Cl73 battle of Britain.. What baffles me is that if this does contain the new sound BT chip and that Hornby will move over to 21pin regardless of the model,(as seen in the ,"should be railroad" cl66) by spring 2024 the chip is worth nearly more than a dc class 73 anyway making this quite cheap. No doubt the price is wrong or the description flawed or I'm just confused by wine.
  21. I started off quite excited by the new BT DCC but I'm already a bit concerned by the fact one sound model is sold out before we even have reached a release. I'll explain why.. this product in my mind is a great idea to make DCC affordable and easy even for the new user. But and it's a big but.. it is very in house only orientated and if the house itself doesn't seem (already ) to be capable of matching demand with production I see problems. I hope I'm wrong as I have pre ordered a few and look forward to trying it. But this isn't a ltd loco run.. this should be a fluid limitless production that at least matches the number of "x" pin locos in the market.
  22. The problem is it's a bit meaningless.. if they run out and Hornby can't or don't supply them with there full allocation then once again it will be another round of disappointment emails from Hattons (even though it may not be Hattons fault). There's also the other issue that Hornby not only seem to have changed ideas with outlets. But seem to now be competing in a way with price using the rewards scheme which can go to 15%. Useful for items that don't see much discount like the new BT chips
  23. Bit more of an overview looking towards to the fiddle yard exit.. some more details added including a start on etched ladders and detailing the derelict water tower, and a start made on adding a little more variety to the hedgerow tree colour to suggest new growth. Trying not to do too much.
  24. I know ow it was 10 but the new joiners seem to be getting 15 in rewards. I didn't get any info emailed. Though TBF I was going to let it slip anyway. But being miles from a decent shop It seems to make more sense to start new than carry on with the old 10% off retail.
