  1. No kippers available today, so just look in the mirror and wish.... Well, at least we know how the Great Western moved fish out of Neyland, just that the use of low containers with ice is too late for Basilica Fields.

  3. A wise decision. I started with a SIII SWB, went to a SIIA LWB and then to a County 90 V8. Damn decent vehicles. No doubt that there will be some of us who mightl check that you have put the PTO lever in the correct place. regards, Graham
  4. The last photo above, with the wisps of steam on a damp day, looks the part and that Series two / or SIIA looks at home. Why worry about how many drums fit in the back? What says that the poor forlorn Landy has to be the factory hack? In the photo the placement of the model looks great, as if someone has parked with just enough care as to not get in the way of shunting. regards, Graham
  5. On the M25? In the rush hour? Do like the atmosphere of your model.
  6. For those of us who might be stuck in the "Vertical Tappet" and "Straight Switch" time discontinuum... what moves the switch tongues? what is the function of a clamp lock? what is bolted to the running face of the switch toe? Thank you for such interesting images, Graham
  7. Correct, the expression 'something' is "A1 at LLoyds" means that the subject meets the highest standards and hence is a minimal (insurance) risk. I recollect that one of the GWR Directors was a Lloyd's name at the time when the engine was rebuilt. Graham
  8. When these buffets were built, to diagram D167 in the 1930s, some coaches had cooking equipment which worked on gas and some coaches had cooking equipment which worked with electricity. The LNER Carriage Association has a web site where the Gresley Buffet no. 641 is described as being built with electric cooking... together with two sets of batteries and three dynamos. I have not found a photograph of a "electric" D167 Buffet in "as-built" condition and hence I am not sure of the arrangement of battery boxes / dynamos on the underframe - might anyone be able to help in this matter? A supplementary question, please. Where were the steam heat and vacuum pipe runs on these coaches? Thank you if you are able to help, Graham Beare
  9. I wonder why... wrong era? wrong fuel? or just the wheels will not fit.... Humm, I guess that the reason is that neither a Castle nor a Western would be allowed around that loop. regards, Graham
  10. You will find some photographs of the T49 coaches in the several volumes of "Severn and Wye", Ian Pope, published Wild Swan.
