  1. Good morning one and all, I hope every one in UK has survived the nights storms without too much damage......(in the past I've also been out repairing / supporting / removing fence panels in the middle of the night...... Still tomorrows POETS day, and we are already half way through the month! Stay safe, Trev.
  2. Wow, what a lot's been going on today on here? Well the soup was supposed to be "leak" -- according to the restaurant manager this morning. Once I'd gone through the menu with him suggesting a number of spelling corrections...it's quite unusual here to find that many in the same document. The boss phoned and suggested that visited one of our finished (phase 1) projects as we now have a boiler to install. Phoned the clients man on the ground - "it's on its way - should be here by lunch time" (yeah - right!) Called in around two - still on its way.....but I says you have got about a zillion crates of bottles to move............"ah forgotten them!!!" . Yea gods it is so difficult to get any thing done here.. Anyway get to the airport surprise - planes on time!!!! So back home before dark , ( I was on the one with the green tail) Now to try and catch up with mails, Try to have a good night, Trev
  3. Good morning all, pretty good nights sleep. Ended up with the pizza last night - took a long time coming and it was huge. So as theres a fridge in the room, guess what I'm having for breakfast? Wrong! .......pigged out on the pizza so now I'm have the fruit salad I ordered last night too. Lets hope whatever hump day brings you it's survivable? Stay safe, Trev.
  4. Evening all, "happily"! ensconced in a hotel in Aba...well until I went to the restaurant.......the menu is quite interesting; "Gratinated onions and lick soup with whipping cream and swiss cheeze" and other such delights - though peppered dog is not listed! (Apparently it is in some of the lesser known eateries around here!) So gave that a miss it was actually easier to ask what they did have - turns out best they can do will be a Pizza. But why is it hotel rooms now have got such dim lighting? Just seen a couple of snippets of the UK's weather - stay safe folks! Trev
  5. Morning all, i was supposed to be getting on a plane for an internal flight in a short while, but late last night got an SMS /Text message from the airline saying flight had been delayed until 10:45......luckily my return flight isn't until tomorrow (perhaps). And for the first night in months I've woken without pains in my hips back or legs!... Well lets see what today has in store for us? Try to stay warm & dry, if you must go outside, be careful. Trev.
  6. Morning all, another week dawns, not much else from me at the moment. Try to survive whatever life throws at you today, Trev.
  7. Good Morning all, not much to report from the dark continent, though the sun is doing its best to break through the dust cloud. Not got much planned for today though I might go for a walk before it gets to hot. Lets hope we all have a day of peace, Trev.
  8. Morning all, Harmattan [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmattan ] in full force here - worse than I've seen in previous years, sky's a sort of musstardy colour.....and every things covered in dust! Slept fairly soundly last night - then woke with a start just after six, realised that it was Saturday and headed back to the land of nod for another three and half hours! Lets hope the goes well. Trev
  9. Good morning all from a positively chilly Nigeria it only 18C ! Mind you it will be in the high 20's by lunch time but with humidity in single figures & the air full of dust. Still today's Friday (what already?) so lets make the best of what life throws at us? Trev.
  10. Evening all, posted a few more holiday snaps tonight. For Xmas I was given a number of bottles of non - alcoholic sparkling wine ( ghastly stuff), so my house girl who can be very inventive in the kitchen decided it might make a "Red Wine" sauce to go with chicken - it didnt....well a least it was edible - and with mash potato to soak some of it up...rest of the bottle went down the drain! Ok bed time, sleep tight, mind the bugs dont bite, pleasant dreams, Trev.
  11. Good morning all, was it only a week ago that I was still on the shores of the Pacific? Seems like forever ago! Still tomorrows Friday........... what ever your day brings lets hope there are no disasters ? Stay dry & warm. Trev.

  13. Good Morning all, Being as it's Hump day, I just had to add this photo. (Taken when I was wondering around Orange Empire Railway Museum). Quite cool here barely 20C, and the air full of very fine dust (Hamatan) , and the temperature not expected to rise much above 27C. Still only two more days and it's Friday! Try to make the most of your day, Trev.
  14. Evening all, My "Train Mad" GF has given me another task --- I'm planning to drive back with her from So. Califronia to Vancouver in Late March / Early April (the scenic route mainly along the coast) - to find a "few" train things along the way, (Rail Museums, hobby stores etc) trouble is without looking very hard I've found three for day one & two! -and thats just north of LA! ---oh well "Google is my friend" .... Enjoy whats left of your evening. Trev.
  15. Good morning all, Is it Friday yet? ??? Though in all yesterday went well as it's always a slow start to the year as many have "traveled" and dont start returning until the first working day of the year. Be good (if you can) today, Trev

  19. Morning all, (well it is for most of you) - just on 9:30pm here in Altanta International Airport - 90 minutes till my flight then around 10:49 hours and I should be back on the dark continent!. Managed yet another train ride too. The inter-terminal train (driverless) has some real "Train-set" like curves! Lets hope that the day goes well for all, Be good , try to stay dry & warm, Trev.
  20. Good Morning & happy New Year to what I like to call all my friends on ER! Lets hope we all survive whatever life throws at us in the coming year. Just over 5 hours of 2014 left here. But just been out to photo the last sunset of the year . Due to the cold & wet today (If any one tells you it's always warm in Southern California - they're telling untruths! Barely got into double figures in Centigrade today) So I've putting my Christmas pressie together. Travelling back to Ng tomorrow , arrive Friday evening. Be good (or if you can't be good be careful!) Trev.
  21. Good morning all, As Marilyn promised I was "forced" to endure another train trip today...to San Diego old town. There I had my first Mexican lunch..... then as the weather has turned cold and rain was coming caught the next train back. I'll open a thread on the trains in the US section when I get back to Lagos....only another full day here. Hope your N.Y.E goes well, Trev.
  22. Morning all, I cant claim to have any illustrious or infamous ancestors - the family historian (my Mother) has not managed to get back much before the early 1700's. Today Marilyn decided that I could drive the "scenic" route from Palm Springs back to Carlsbad......forgetting to mention that the road rose by over 3000 feet! (in about 10 miles!) Photo is from near the top.....Palm Desert in the background......(elv 435ft) tis twisty windy road. There were though a lot of bicycling types pounding their way up! Train trip again promised for my Tuesday.. Hope yours goes well, Trev.
  23. Good morning all, quite day today, but did go to an up-market resort / hotel / golf course - just able to afford a coffee! Spent a fair time watching the birds...... Lets hope every ones Monday goes to plan, stay warm & safe, Trev.
  24. Morning all, No trains for me today (M must be slipping!) just a bit of a tour round the Palm Springs area. Though we did have a very nice Chinese Buffet (all you can eat!) lunch. Managed to pick up some copies of "Narrow Gauge & Short line Gazette" yesterday, one of which has piece on the Groudle Glen Rly. The view from one of the supermarket car parks this morning is not like your typical UK view. Hope your Sunday is all you'd wish for. Stay safe & warm, Trev
  25. Good morning all, Yet another "surprise" (or two) for me today (Boxing day) - Marilyn took me to the "Orange Empire Railway Museum" - spent nearly 3 hours on a self guided tour ... it is a huge site! - This was on our way to my next surprise - couple of days in Palm Springs. Lets hope that the UK's weather doesn't effect anyone's plans to badly, stay safe, Trev.
