Is that what they call "Bondage?"

The late Mark Gurries would be shaking his head at some of this.

You haven't said "Did it make it back"? 😁
We did, but 4-up w camping equipment meant it was overloaded. 55 mph was the max, even on autobahnen, as it became unstable from there. It was awful on Belgian pavé And the clutch played up - dealers visited - but I think one driver was hamfooted with it. When the owner took over it seemed fine again. The brief skirmish with a trolleybus in Trieste - that driver again - didn't result in more than a scrape, fortunately.

An acquaintance is a guide at Exeter Cathedral. Such an appointment required many months of study and an exam, despite having held the same post at Gloucester Cathedral. I wonder how he pronounces it. If we see him we'll ask.

I like the Police Hillman Imp in J3849.
Hope theirs was more reliable than the one my Father owned!
I'll have you know that in 1966 four of us went camping in a 1964 Hillman Imp - from Surrey to Dubrovnik!

Unfamiliarity with slam door stock: How many people booking on mainline steam specials will not have previously encountered Mk.1 stock on heritage lines?

Irthlingborough! A place name I had forgotten! In the BR HQ open-plan office full of support staff for TOC Privatisation, 1994-6, there seemed to be several young ladies who lived there, commuting from Wellingborough. Must have been a good peak-hour service.

A fine and comprehensive portfolio, thankyou. As for quality - most people would think they'd done quite well to take them!

Sport reference?
Afraid so, Captain. Something to do with 22 grown men chasing a bag of wind like bees round a honeypot. Baffling.

Even if it is "Sold Out at Rapido" it may not be "Sold Out at Alternative Retailer".
Certainly for the wagons, Rapido are clearing whole batches, so the website says sold-out. But the bigger dealers may have plenty left. E1s are a much bigger investment, but dealers may still have some over and above their client pre-orders.

Attacking trains had a tactical value, but strategically it was better to destroy workshop facilities
Wasn't that what the Dambusters set out to do, by flooding and beggaring power supplies?

Thank you for all the suggestions about spending my windfall guys. I have, however, decided that it will be spent on various bits for my layout, basically to avoid creating ill-feeling among those left out should I choose one of your suggestions ( although I can confirm that Oldddudders’ idea didn’t even get onto the starting blocks).
I am deeply, but deeply, disappointed.

Something GWR, perhaps?
