  1. I’m not a fan of these “ id buy 100 , it’d sell like hotcakes “ type posts ..

And I don’t have space for one , and already have the other but surely …

The HST , The class 08/09.

Nothing on the market to current standards , and the red box versions extremely limited supply and liveries as they concentrate on their core demographic of steam .

But he’s a lot older and dare I say it, he’s becoming Vettel.

This would open a massive door though for Sainz at RB.

Do you think Lewis heart is still in it ?is it my imagination or is he outperformed by George a lot now

I recently posted how I was able to 'crawl' a CavAlex 56 on DC operation around my layout (~12' x 5') whilst hauling 14x Bachmann TEA bogie wagons 'plus a few extras' without changing the power setting.

I then started seeing which locomotive could 'really crawl' smoothly.

I didn't want to push the 56 any further, harmless or not, she's still new!!

I replaced with a 'super detailed' Hornby EWS class 60.  This was admittedly over a short distance - I don't have the patience to follow at this speed!!

This is really impressive, so the bar's already been set pretty high by that Hornby 60!!

I 'counted' 20 seconds between one full sleeper (sleeper plus gap).

I tried a Hornby SD 56, but that's too highly geared.

A H4-66 (Hattons 66) performed at least as impressively.

Don’t much see the point of the crawling . Real life trains don’t crawl much unless they are coupling up. People are at work and want to get the job finished !

That would make it more original than a lot of the Spitfires flying today!

Regarding the Jaguars at Cosford, a lot have moved on and aren't operational. Cosford have got three Hawks and the Typhoon prototype that was previously on display at Duxford for training.

Talking of Typoons, ZJ913 was rolled out this morning for the cameras, ready for the 2024 airshow season...

Oooh....! Appears ZJ914 "Blackjack" will be the spare jet this season.

Think I prefer the black one. They should make it gloss black

Just played with that. Nearly everything above FL400 is private business jets, most at FL410. Just a very small handful of BA flights at FL410 to FL430.  Most of what I can see at FL450+ is a Gulfstream.

It reminds me of a story from a friend of a friend on traffic control at Prestwick, perhaps 30+ years ago. One transatlantic flight requested permission to descend from FL600 feet to FL400 . "Say again?" was said twice. Might be an urban myth? Or a U2/SR71?

Dunno how high Concorde went . I think both U2 and the blackbird could manage that high ?

  6. I like the 350 design , it’s like a slightly melted 787 ;)

you can tell all these things come off similar design aerodynamic cad whatnots …they all look fairly similar , wasn’t the case years ago ..

I’ve just purchased this mug in recognition of my time on the plastic jet …it’s an engine mug ..Boeing do some good merch

  7. I think the question I’d ask with rails is , “ show me the photo of that loco looking like that “.

There’s a fair percentage of imaginary weathering going on ….what people think weathering looks like rather than the reality . Should always be based on the real loco I feel

  8. You won’t find much flying in there .

the runway is only about 1400m which precludes routine ops of all the heavy or pointy stuff .

theyve got a load of jaguars there they run for technical training . I wonder if these were flown in somehow ? Like slam it down and brake like stink / drag chute etc

  9. I wouldn’t swap my pre new version blue box ones - ima cgually still happy with my 47035 from about 2005 ! That did take hacking around the bodies to change the obvious class 57 bits though , but my more recent one is also good.

If I got anymore it’d be the new Bachmann , but have to be well below £200 and the blue ones seem to consistently stay above that

    £99? Think yourself lucky!!

NHS dentistry is extinct in Cornwall, so we'd not seen a dentist for years.

When my wife wife had a receding gum / pain issue six months ago, we were forced to sign up with a private practice - I thought I'd better have a check-up too.

We both had an initial inspection - compulsory if you wanted to be seen; a hygienist appointment - again, compulsory prior to any treatment; my wife had a desensitising coating to her teeth, and I had a minor cavity filled.

    Total cost - over £2,000 !!!

Six months later, they were insisting that we needed to go through the hygienist / inspection regime again - no way !!!

It is high time that the government dictated that all newly trained dentists fulfil several years of NHS-only practice before being allowed to undertake private practice - and that the government pay realistic remuneration during that period.

    CJI.

Maybe if the NHS is funding them but you can’t impose that if they are paying their own way through training

It was done in the Factory at Old Oak as a homage to the last few Hymeks which clung on at 81A into 1975, one of the painters involved was ex-Swindon Works. I drove it a few times in '83 and '84 and it was one of the better examples. Here's the paintjob being applied on 4/4/82...

And unlike most blue diesels the yellow has square corners

  12. From Dave’s vid for those who haven’t seen it.

he also pointed out there’s no backing to the exhaust so you can see straight in to the PCB.

The TMC weathered version was better as it hid some of the mistakes !

The Class 28 is being rereleased and that actually does look like a potato in real life! Gotta love the ‘Object’.

In which case it’ll be modelled inch perfect to look like a 47 ;)
