  1. That's an absolute motherload of wagons... you need a scale Bescot for them !
  2. Very nice model.Well done !
  3. Great wagon weathering ! Don't force yourself - it'll become a chore ! I tend to have several little projects going at once so I can chop and change and not get bored
  4. Hi Bill, Yes , changed avatar - fed up with Borat ! Office view instead. That is a remarkable working . Thank god people take photos because you would never believe that combo without ! all the best
  5. What a pain ! I wish the manufacturers would make body removal as easy as possible. It's hardly a rare thing with dcc
  6. are we not getting early 80s blue ones without headlights then ?
  7. Nice pics, I wonder what that Bangor - Aylesbury was all about ? more catalogue traffic ? 47s were used from time to time on the pad newspapers I think.
  8. great layout ! can't get enough of photos of this
  9. nice locos ! Never saw the mainline 31, IIRC it was painted to pull the company's inspection saloon and as such it needed to be a light loco to do all the routes.

    Dapol 'Western'

If I'd known you were in Swindon, Dave , you could have had a cup of tea and a hobnob.. just don't come empty handed !

That looks nice ! Good job Dapol - Dave also appears in the flesh in the estimeed " Swindon advertiser " today , with the steam team promoting the ltd edition one. Agree with pugsley that this may steal the Hornby 60s crown...
  12. hmm, yes, yodel are rubbish. I would hope hattons don't start using them exclusively
  13. er, there's an echo in here. My phone is possessed... I've got aload of trip notes from the Banbury area a member kindly sent me. Fascinating reading.
  14. Those WTTs are fascinating , shows what we have lost really. Class 08, 25,31,45, 47, 50 ,52 sweet....

  16. Wow, Mickey - "payback time for the south " eh ? Hard to hide that chip on the shoulder 4630, I agree that it's a shame that any of the country has to put up with this blight. And I'd be happy for Wycombe to take a track down the centre, it's a dump but not typical of the chilterns at all. I don't want to get drawn into politics - it's not allowed, but this will polarise views on here, both left and right. So No more comment from me on this thread.
  17. Although this topic veers dangerously towards politics, I would be intrigued to learn how having a fast link to the North will re balalance the nation's wealth and provide more jobs.....is it just that those N of the SE will be able to get there quicker for 'all' of the massive buoyant job market there is there now..... I'm not a fan of the term NIMBY as it's paraded around like some sort of medical condition, when in actual fact why should anyone's house, lifestyle or view 'take one for the team'... I sure as heck am outraged at the destruction of my beloved Chilterns although I don't live there anymore
  18. not overlooking the practicalities - if I run a train from Severn tunnel junction to my, er, plank I could run class 25,31,37,45,46,47,56 ...you get the idea. now 95% of my freight would be gone, the other 5% would be shed hauled. I don't think a traditional shunting plank works too well with modern practice. Funny thing is, I can't remember much about the time. I was 10 in 1982, and the most enduring image is the HSTs...impressive then, and still so today even in FGW purple... Other than that it's a bit blurry. I do also enjoy the early EWS years as that coincided with a great period in my life..
  19. Mainline blue is a great scheme.....hard to find 37s in it - there's vi one or the Rex ltd edition and that's about it . I'm loving your early EWS fleet....see some numbers in there I used to see regularly in " Rails" , movements log each week. Pages of interesting 37 movements before a) Rail got pretentious and decided it wasn't for enthusiasts and b ) the 66 take over limited it somewhat
  20. 31110, 270 iffy. 268 ok, newly produced ones ok
  21. That said, My 31268 is the smoothest runner in the fleet and I'll be looking to add additional examples from the sound batches.
