  1. I would love one for my collection but the moulded handrails all over the locomotive and tender put me off from ever buying one
  2. Great to see everyone getting their models and the issues being worked out. I have to say it's the best model I've ever owned, so happy I've bought one. Thank you to everyone at Rapido, the NRM and Locomotion for making it happen!
  3. I have two A4s again. Thinking I need another in garter blue.
  4. Mine came today! On my birthday of all days! Those Canadians sure know how to make amazing models!
  5. I live in the UK, but separated by the tiny Irish Sea. I rarely get 48 hour delivery in 48 hours so I can imagine what posting something even greater distances can be like. In fact the Single is so far the only model to be delivered when they said it would be.
  6. Something to be said for a circle of track on a baseboard. Took me back 25 years to times me and my late Granda spent laying on his dining room floor running his double tender Flying Scotsman. It's what sparked my love of Gresley's designs and the LNER. Wonder what he'd think of my collection?
  7. Spent the morning running No1 in and here she is pulling her first train
  8. As for my evolutionary line up I do need an A3, Peppercorn A1 then a Deltic. Would also need a new cabinet to house them all!
  9. My evolutionary line up! Fitted a chip, never had so much hassle getting the tender screwed back together! Only criticism of such a great model.
  10. The original B16s would be commercially viable. Long lived, a few different liveries and plenty of running numbers. Also a mixed traffic design so plenty for it to pull. Also plenty of models to run with it especially if you model the post war period, ie B1, K1, Pacifics, D49, J72, J94, Q6, V2 to name but a few.
  11. Simon got back to me last night and will send a spare out. Great customer service! I spent the morning swearing and fitting the buffer beam detail including the replacement chains. Also this is as close as I can get with matching carriages so far!
  12. I got mine today. Was so excited seeing the van pull up! She is a beauty! I was surprised by her weight. Hats off to Rapido, this is my first model by them and hopefully one of many more! Although one of the guard irons has gone missing and I can't find it anywhere in the box
  13. They also have marketability, after a year or so as an exclusive split up carriage sets could find themselves in the main range with different liveries. I'm meaning if a mainstream manufacturer takes them on
  14. And with the new model of the 800 you can cover 1870 to today. Just missing the small boilered Atlantic
  15. All the talk of matching coaching stock got me thinking about the LNER streamlined sets. Long lasting, could be sold in a full set or in parts for the post war period or to make it more affordable. A rebuilt beavertail would also appeal to the Scottish modeller.
  16. I bought one because I have an A1, I also have a C1 so the Single is a perfect accompaniment model. And when I get my A4 from Hornby I'll have a nice collection of GNR/LNER East Coast Mainline models illustrating motive power evolution. And all in green!
  17. Why is this thread still full of posts about lining? The model is not lined, end of. The guys at Rails were asked as to why and they responded. Do you not feel all this rubbish over what might have been in some modellers' eyes is counter productive to the hobby? If I was a retailer or manufacturer reading post after post of all this I would question why I bother making models at all. I have ordered a model and I cannot wait for it to arrive. Rails and Rapido should be applauded in their efforts.
  18. I love his videos. There's a whole community of young modellers out there reviewing models for the benefit of the hobby. Seeing the coach in the flesh so to speak makes me certain that I made a good investment and has me wanting it and The Single all the more!
  19. I took the plunge and ordered one. Couldn't let the opportunity pass me by
  20. The E4 is an interesting idea. A distinctive wheel arrangement, a long lived design and Victorian designs seem to be vogue, plus there is a survivor to study. I'd like Hornby to tackle the K4. The missing link in Gresley's masterpieces and Hornby seem to nail LNER designs. Plus they're Scottish.
  21. As much as I like pouring Guinness at work I'm afraid I'm a cider drinker! My Granda and I used to walk my Great Gran's dog over to Windsor Park. We'd stop on the footbridge and watch any shunting going on. Of course I was too young to know or appreciate what I was watching.
  22. I grew up in Lisburn, County Antrim. I still remember vividly a grubby orange locomotive hauling Guinness trains past Bow St Mall. The siding to the Guinness site in Belfast is still there I believe. I think I'll be buying a pack!
