  1. Hi all A little progress with some detailing on and around some of the buildings on the north end of the works. Added some Metal fencing to a storage tank area, but left the gate open to allow access for a delivery of gas by road tanker. Added some bricks around the entrance and along the coil loading building, and will put some lights to protect the the road crossing and also grime up that metal fencing. Jez
  2. Hi all A bit more detailing work.... with some pipe work added, for cooling or transferring pressurised gases around the northern end half relief structures. Added some concrete and general grime to right hand siding area that will access the coil loading building, the other two lines will be for plate, beams and wire loading and will be worked on next. Jez.
  3. Hi all A bit of experimenting with mirror tile wall stickers. Stuck some on a sheet of plastic card and placed it at the end of the coal storage area to give some depth and distance to the end of the layout. Looks not too bad will also place some along the rear of the coal heap as well. Not yet convinced if it's to my liking will experiment a bit more!! Unable to hide this end of the layout with foliage or some type of structure and couldn't find a suitable background. A few photos of before and after and some depot images. Thanks.....Jez
  4. Hi all A bit more scenic work. Exstended the road and added a crossing that passes over the the reception sidings, also a signal box that will control movements around the works sidings and coal reception lines. A low loader has just gone over the crossing with an excavator heading for a construction site at the works and a 37 with a short steel working passes over the crossover that leads to the coal reception or bypass line. Also stared work on a road bridge that will go at a angle over the main line and works spur. Jez
  5. Hi Graham... looking good, builders yard sits nicely in front of the warehouse. Will you put tipper body on the chassis of the toymtec 8 wheeler. Jez
  6. Hi all A new arrival for Lackenthorpe arrived at the reception sidings. Picked it up at Model Rail Scotland, this is my favourite livery for a 37, will get plenty of use on hauling steel traffic. Would love another to form a pair they would look great on a long rake of baa coil wagons. Started a road that will run alongside the works that will then cross over the coal reception line and up over a bridge across the main line. Jez
  7. Hi all A bit more progress on the area around the gas holder, had a go at scratch building a half relief structure that has the looks of a heat exchanger/cooling facility that wii sit on the embankment. Added a crash barrier that sits along side the access road that runs along the embankment along with some greenery. Purchased a Farish water tower whilst at Model Rail Scotland which is very a well detailed structure , not sure where to put it at the moment !! Jez
  8. Hi all A bit more work on the the embankment, with some greenery added and grimed up the concrete support wall. A road was put down for access that will run along side the gas holder. Grimed the pipe work and support structure and added some greenery. Haven't touched the track yet, that'll come later on. Jez
  9. Hi all A bit of progress on a retaining wall that supports the embankment that the gas holder sits on, along with some pipe work that comes from the cooling tower via a pump house or an over flow tank. Will add some latticework to support the pipeline that goes over the track to the tank. Also more work on the area around the second reception sidings. Jez
  10. Hi all A bit of progress on the are around reception sidings and the coal discharge lines. Added five floodlights that sit in the area between the two road reception sidings and the lines that run around and through the coal discharge shed. Scattered some oven dried earth around the area along with some greenery, will not be using ballast on any of the tracks that run in the works. The hole area still needs heavy weathering and lots of grime. Some photos of a pair of blue 20s run through the bypass line. Jez
  11. Hi Graham..... yes the US layout is still above Lackenthorpe, I need to get hold of some more Kato unitrack. It's slow progress on that layout at the moment, shall be visiting the US later in the year so will be able to get some items and visit some locations for some inspiration. Jez
  12. Hi all A bit of work on the depot today. Installed a pair of the excellent CR signals floodlighting towers. Weathered the concrete hard standing along side the main depot. Jez
  13. Hi alll It's been a while since any progress due to lack of motivation and funds, back on it now. This has always been a long term project along with my US layout and with both been outside in a purpose built shed I was able to just leave them until my enthusiasm came back. Started a new job a few months ago with a utility company so have some financial security and no 3 hour daily commute, RMweb has kept my mojo ticking over and seeing others progress helps. Had a tidy up and got some trains running, a couple of photos of the reception sidings with a building for the train crew/ shunter and steel works staff. Jez
  14. Hi Noticed this truck positioned on the diamond carrying out some kind of work, does anyone know what it was doing? Jez
  15. Hi Graham......yes US at the present, both are long term projects. I was made redundant in May so things are a bit tight at present, got a temporary position at the moment so once I can find a permanent position will be able to get on with both. Jez
  16. Hi Graham Cracking progress.... Like the distribution shed, great way of hiding the sharpe curves. The layout doesn't look over crowded with plenty of options for different traffic flows. Jez
  17. Hi Graham.... The layout is coming on nicely just shows how much you can get out of N, with a clever design and excellent carpentry skills in just 4x2. The 47 sounds and looks the business also. Jez
  18. Hi Graham Coming on nicely, the 37 sounds great. Jez
  19. Hi Graham I would go for two and have some fuel storage tanks, most small depots would get trip wokings which would deliver thier fuel and loco refuelling would be carried out inside the depot. It's the larger depots that would have TTA's stabled. Progressing nicely......Jez
  20. Hi Graham That's superb..... great use of such a small area, looking forward to watching your progress. Jez
  21. Hi all Not much progress with the layout.... An attempt at dry brush weathering on my coil carrying rolling stock. Have eight red baa's and three in metal sector livery, red one's are hard to come by. Hoping to pick up some at Model Rail Scotland this month. The Dapol hood's are a great model, have 12 mixed between VTG and Tiphook Rail, so will be able have a decent realistic rake of coil wagons. Jez
  22. Thanks Graham....... I've still got one more space to fill, between the gas holder and the longest works building. The structure will have to sit on an embankment with a road that will go along the front and up and around the side. Here is progress so far.... not much space to play with! Jez
  23. Hi all. Slow progress ......a little work around the works sidings and getting on with the area where the cooling tower and gas holder will be. I may add a mirror at the end of the coal storage/handling area to give the impression of a long stack of coal. Not much to show so a few photos of empty mgr hoppers passing by. Jez
  24. Hi all A bit more progress along the rear of the layout, have decided to place the cooling tower next to the Coke Ovens with a small grass embankment around it. Most of the large structures are in place so can start landscaping and adding smaller buildings along with a road and level crossing. Jez
