The airfix shed is too big!

Sure I’ve seen somewhere before that the doors aren’t long enough either to reach the floor either.

Looks good so far (your first idea reminds me of Barber’s Bridge) and looking forward to seeing this develop.

    Thanks for looking. Regards Paul.

    hi Howl03,

firstly, I’m glad this post is a a well deserved resurrection of this thread. Stunning modelling.

Secondly, the Smiths 3-links you’ve added to the Peckett above: how easy to do was that? Want to do that to mine but concerned about doing it to a £100 loco.

Whilst there's scope to extend, the layout itself has remained the same - stock has increased tenfold however!  The most recent arrivals include USA Class 'Yankee Tank' No 30064, B4 Class No 30096 and A1X Class No 32655 (the first two primarily due to @Graham_Muz and his Canute Road Quay).

I've slowly been adding images to my Gallery page.

Eventually I'd like a seperate station diorama, having purchased the recent release of Bluebell Railway buildings, but that won't be for a while unfortunately...

Excellent. Glad there are plans for something else. I enjoy browsing your website/instagram page when time allows.

  4. This weekend I’ve put together the finishing touches on one of the most enjoyable pieces of modelling I’ve ever done.

Using the Petite Properties Harper’s Yard kit as a base, I’ve gone far away from Britain, inspired by a photo on a Menorcan Instagram account I follow. Initially, it was just planned as a building, but I’m beginning to think that a ‘what if’ line on Menorca might be a way forwards. I’ve chosen Menorca as it’s our favourite destination and so, why not?

The construction was fairly straightforward and makes use of Wills limewashed stone plastic sheet (sprayed in Halfords white primer which is an excellent paint) and their terracotta tiling too. The doors and fittings are roughly painted to indicate wear and tear, coming from the Petite kit (with hinges made from slithers of painted paper) and the finishing touch on top of the roof was terracotta coloured air dry clay.

All that is needed is a very (very) light weathering and I’d love to add a few vivid plants, much like those seen in Binibeca.

I’ve really enjoyed this build and am looking forward to creating a layout for it but, for now, attention will turn to an 00 micro in a box whilst I further research and plan my Menorcan line.

Having also got my first ever paragraph in print, I can confirm I am also available for autographs.

Just send a stamped addressed fiver to.......... :lol_mini:

    Cheers,

    Phil.

Likewise, although I’m not sure I’ll need to spend much time deciding on an autograph.

The Railway Modeller item is a photograph, taken end-on, from the overbridge.  No drawing I’m afraid.

Ref:  Railway Modeller, October 1964, Vol. 15, No. 168.  Page 277.

The Model Railways article was titled: Goods Traffic at Norton-in-Hales, by Bernard Holland – as mentioned above.  It describes his analysis of the Wagon and Sheet Book for the station, which was in use between August 1929 and March 1943, so post-dates the period of the Keay locomotive.

The Wagon and Sheet Book recorded the arrival (and departure) of wagons at Norton-in Hales, and the article cites a selection of years during the 1930’s.

No local coal merchant is noted but coal came largely from Potteries collieries, either in colliery wagons or – if I’m reading the article correctly – wagons operated by a J. Potts, described at a coal agent and factor based at Macclesfield.

Ref:  Model Railways, August 1974, Vol. 3, No. 8.  Pages 389-391.

    Regards

    TMc

Thanks very much for the info. Will look at a certain auction site and try to obtain copies.

Again, all replies very much appreciated. Thank you all.
