I think it was discussed earler in the thread following some pics with the stripe applied right up into the corner. Your right about it being eminently "modelable". (I think we've just inveted a new word there). Just to hear some one say , "Tut, tut" never would have happened!

Highest 16 tonners in England? Not the best quality video about but interesting all the same. The 16 tonners probably being used to transport Dursand from Parkhead quarries. To sort out the lights on my Clayton first I had a go at sticking some five thou plasticard to the Heljan led housing after I’d cut the front from the housing. Total failure as the light didn’t scatter through the plasticard as I’d hoped. MkII version was to solder 4 leds in series to some copperclad. To fit in the already modded housing and it works a treat. No resistors required as the four leds work perfect at 12 volts (I’m DCC) Might be a bit dim under DC until full power is applied. And before anybody says it… I know you shouldn’t series up leds but it ain’t going to explode and it works… A picture says a thousand…. And here are a few pics of my motor solution when it was in DC prototype mode. Works a treat… surprisingly… and clears the cab for a bit of detailing. Porcy

Anhydrite from Long Meg to ICI Billingham was a large source of sheeted mineral traffic. ICI Billingam had (Still have actually.) an anhydrite mine on site at Billingham but it couldn't meet demand. (It's currently part of a planning application to store low level hazardous waste, a previous application to store nuclear waste being unsuccessful.) This till 1963, was another ICI fertilizer production plant. I seem to remember Modern Railways ran a photo essay on rail traffic to the plant. I think these trains used 21 ton hoppers. Two quarries locally to me, historically had problems with wooden wagons carrying processed lime (particularly Dolime) catching fire when the tarps split. It was one reason why, in conjunction with Steetly, the L type containers were developed. L type containers apparently had rubber seals to prevent the ingress of moisture but I've never managed to confirm this. The Design rights (The British Railway bits not C&O) were sold to an Austrailian Company. The BR roadrailer project was allowed to slowly die as folks with foresight saw that the Malcom Mclean designed Intermodal container was the way forward. The last rail test run saw one of the couplings fail which some saw as the final excuse to drop Roadrailer... Poor tare to load Ratio... High Development costs...etc etc. The two prototype trailers had to be modified after failing SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders) Inclination/gradient tests and the wheel hubs almost falling off due to wheel stud failure. The bodies also cracked heavily above the pivot mechanism. This all happened during their first road run from Scotland to Oxford before ever getting near a railway. It is. Complete with an American accent. Dialogue could be a bit shaky though. Looks like McQueen must have shinned along the side of the carriage and over the tender to get int the B1 Cab but Mcqueen could do anything... Oh... and almost forgot! Phones (out of Stingray) is amongst McQueens crew. You get the occasional sample of his voice. Porcy

No. It was a different shape. There's photos of it about on the web. Not to sure but there is film of it somewhere. It may have been in the West German feature film of the GTR. Porcy

If I may take the liberty of correcting some earlier statements. First vehicle was not a BR Standard BG and it was only the first coach that was substituted on the night of the robbery. M31016M took the place of the “High Value†coach which was originally a Western region coach. Sorry can’t find its number at the moment.
