Thanks Cropton. I'm thinking they will be suitable but I may omit the wire entirely. It is barely discernible at 25 yards, so on a model I'm worried that it may look overscale at the rear of the layout.

That MW is lovely, one of the best MRJ ones I've seen - especially as it has the original cab

Hi All,
Can anyone advise the most suitable 4mm scale product which is the nearest match for the type of wire fencing on this photograph please?
I'm looking at the ratio range at the moment, though I'm open to other brands/considerations. Ideally I'd rather not have to solder anything, though it's not outside the realms of possibility.
Many thanks

Quite a fleet you have!
Is that an MRJ F class Manning Wardle? - Looks very nice, any chance of a better photo?

One set of gib and cotter coupling rods have been overhauled and will shortly be winging their way from RSHN Newcastle.

1 hour ago, Mark Carne said:
all the survivors have frame cracks around the driving axle,
Hi Mark,Does that statement include RSH7671/51 JUPITER currently resident at the Colne Valley? I am lead to believe she had a somewhat more sedentary life out-stationed away from Corby and was in good condition when purchased from S&L.

I am told No.24 had/has cracks in the frames and the leaf springs were re-positioned during overhaul at Corby to help alleviate this. She was a popular loco at Corby and she was stripped at Scunthorpe with a view to restoring her to working order. Unfortunately she is very far gone and is far from original condition as is noted above.

Corbs, I'm happy to solder these up for you for free - are they the ambis ones?
PM me if you'd like to take me up on it

The Dump car is coming along nicely..
Have you ever considered adding a lost wax safety valve cover with salter valve arms for the Hornby Peckett to your range? It would make a nice upgrade.

Hi Andy,
A class L has never been available as a kit in 4mm scale I'm afraid - the closest which is currently available is the I or K class from rtmodels (previous versions available from Impetus and Peter K). At the other end of the spectrum CSP does several larger 0-6-0 types.
Hope that helps.

Expect to pay top whack, unfortunately - I sold a rough one second hand a few years ago on ebay for £150

Hi All,
I'm looking for a pack of Exactoscale 4mm insulating fishplates - 8 pairs or more, if possible - more than happy with an opened packet etc.
Payment via paypal
Many thanks

It's a very slender design with the coupling rods notably outside the width of the footplate - I would agree with Ruston, features typical of EB Wilson.
I think the exercise has been prepared as a homage to the loco or loco design - the motion is lacking behind the frames and I would suggest it is perhaps unusual to see shadows picked out on a technical drawing?Paul A.

Broken up for spare parts - I suspect not.
I would also echo the sentiment that it coincides with GB Railfreight interest in the class...

Just so you know not all is lost Paul here are my Juno nameplates.
I have a NB body to mesh with a RT chassis. Should be just the the real thing
That's so 2 years ago...
Best of luck with it - the larger footsteps she sports now are not original, though she did gain them at Buckminster at some point.

One would hope so, it being less than 15 years old!
Less than 11! She went for preservation in 1969.
18'' Austerities at Exton Park quarries in Rutland were cut up at less than 10 years after being built, but that's progress for you I suppose...

I have a cunning plan for these - 6 sets in hand from the US.

Juno looking like its on its last legs.
Yes, the first photo I've seen of her looking so - she was generally kept in good condition. Happily preserved of course (Shildon at the moment, I believe), as are several other locos from the quarries which fed the High Dyke branch.

IMO D9522 is a very poor choice for the class 14 re-issue.
One of the few which was cut up early in 1968 - no further use in industry and not preserved.

How hard would it be to add another wheel set and make one like 'Salmon'?
I think Hattons will be taking care of that one soon...

Great news!
Not sure which fits my chosen prototype better - Ideally I need the earlier type with salter safety valves but with the shorter chimney which was fitted during overhaul.

Have you thought about axle boxes Robert?
The preserved ones differ from those more commonly deployed, I believe - they may be a later modification. I can't remember which ones featured on the drawings I sent.

I'll try and model specific locos, modelling specific NCB and Midlands Ironstone engines in the late 60s, 70s and into 80s, but may stray at times.
You dabble in NCB as well James? Well, nobody's perfect...
Watching with interest of course

Looking forward to a rake of these distinctive wagons, glad things are moving forward.

The dump car is looking excellent, very fine chassis indeed.
Any more clues regarding the early Hunslet ?
